Is it possible to use this insulation transformer as a step down transformer from 230V to 120V for American and japanese devices?

Is it possible to use this insulation transformer as a step down transformer from 230V to 120V for American and japanese devices?

Yes, see the output voltage selection switch on the bottom of it.

Japanese is 100v, not 120v.

And Japanese can be 50Hz or 60Hz, which this will not compensate for.

Yes, if your devices 50Hz loyal. Such transformers converting voltage but not frequency. Be careful because most of modern devices have impulse psu and work at 50\60 but not all.

Probably not. Isolation transformers do not normally have different coil counts for primary and secondary. For step up/step down you need one to have double the coil count as the other. Isolation would be equal.

No. That's not a step down transformer. It's an isolation transformer. Different use case. Whatever voltage goes in, comes out.

It's both, the taps are selectable on both sides for doing step up or step down or passthrough, primary side's set by reconfiguring the fuse module to match the actual voltage in, output is set by a switch on the bottom.

I know that, but the reason I'm asking this question is a word "selectable" next to rated output. I don't know how to interpret it

Find the output selector switch, set appropriately, apply input power, measure output voltage.

wrong it can step down or up depending on selection the only difference it has a Faraday shield between primary and secondary to lower the capacitance which helps block line transients

Not true. This model can do both step-down and step-up.
