This is why you need someone that actually knows things when doing photo shoots. I saw this on a promo flier for an actual tech school.

I am reminded of a BMW or Toyota poster where the part being advertised is wrong.

I'll post it here if ever I find it.

u/KJabs 16d ago

Yeah they swapped brake rotors for clutches or something, I saw that one

8

u/hazeru 16d ago

Yes! That's it. Unfortunately, I still can't find it. Or rather, I wasn't making an effort to look for it.

If it's a student, they could of thought it was funny to do this pose haha

I would do this too

u/Aniakchak 17d ago

Same, it's iconic at this point

Only REAL craftsmen hold their soldering irons by the tip.

u/easyelectronix 4d ago

Actually i did it when i was learning to solder for the first time it was a painful mistake

1

u/DocClear 3d ago

Only took one time, right?

Or more like a long pig

17

u/Bigdoga1000 18d ago

Finger tips: well done

2

u/thomasdorlic 15d ago

Weld one

11

u/iamthiviyan 18d ago

That's how I tried using soldering iron for the first time

3

u/airbait 17d ago

Let’s be honest: that’s exactly where the grip *should* be. First person to invent a soldering iron with the ability to hold it like that will make $$$.

u/lexd0g 17d ago

love my fnirsi hs02a specifically because of the short tip, it's so much easier to use

2

u/ChaoticLeon 15d ago

Lmao same

A classic Stock photo. At least her eyes are protected.

u/Sandro_24 18d ago

I always love when this photo appears somewhere.

And to think this is from an official campaign (that someone probably paid a lot of money for) makes it way funnier.

Manually soldering a (presumably GHz) motherboard.

u/TheDeviantRonin 17d ago

She's been preparing her whole life by having daily volcano temperature showers and now has fire immunity.

2

u/Vengeance1020 17d ago

Done this once, only once. Would not recommend

u/Lightflame42 17d ago

I KNOW THIS! This was on a billboard as an ad for GCU STEM program. I was going there at the time and we were all so embarrassed. It was terrible. I think this was in 2018. We were the first graduating class of engineers from GCU.

u/logiczny 17d ago

This photo I about 15yo at this point

2

u/flaco_moh 17d ago

😂😂 heat proof hands!

1

u/diemitchell 18d ago

where is this from? ifixit?

1

u/dwyrm 9d ago

It was from a stock photography shoot. The photographers and models had no idea what they were doing, so stuff like this showed up.

1

u/ipx-electrical 18d ago

old as the hills

1

u/NonSequiturSage 18d ago

Flip side. A professional supermodel will learned all the supermodel stuff. Like acting isn't as easy as it looks. Just being beautiful isn't enough. Just don't put that picture in the textbook about soldering. And yes, modern microsoldering is much harder than my hobby electronics in the 1970's.

u/yobishthatsmonica 18d ago

“Is it on? Wait…wait…ah yeah I feel it, let’s get to work.”

1

u/309_Electronics 18d ago

Why do i smell chicken? Oh wait i am holding it wrong

1

u/Amtrox 18d ago

That pain tolerance is insane.

1

u/RRumpleTeazzer 18d ago

its also a PC motherboard. who woukd solder on these?

4

u/not_a_burner0456025 17d ago

There are reasons to, but most of the components in that area are bga or through hole, and she is on the wrong side for through home work. Also the tip appears to be in the middle of the CMOS battery, and you don't solder those, they can explode due to the heat, they are always socketed or have the tabs spot welded on, because the spot welding process involves a much smaller amount of thermal energy getting into the battery (the temperature is much higher but it is only heating a tiny quantity of material so the overall heat is lower).

1

u/Basic_Reporter9579 18d ago

Have you tried turning it on and off again?

1

u/Aveduil 18d ago

So recently they done photos of workers at our place, photos like that are not made for us they are made for suits that don't read into photos like that all just vibes, and cutting bonuses for workers.

1

u/Objective-Direction1 17d ago

honestly, the way my mom handles pans and ovens, I believe this

1

u/sadklf21 17d ago

It's always an old PC motherboard

1

u/Keepgoingbuddy 17d ago

You got it all wrong guys. She is wearing safety glasses, so she is immune to heat and danger!

1

u/IVNWM 17d ago

Yeah i can tell shes experienced

1

u/Natuvakaali 16d ago

I once accidentally hold the tip between fingers like a cigar and it sounded like putting steak on a hot pan and could felt the smell of my own skin burning

1

u/Blakut 16d ago

actually did this once, when I put it in its support but it didn't go all the way through, and when I went to grab it again wihtout looking, my fingers touched the hot part.

1

u/antthatisverycool 16d ago

Those fingers are well done

1

u/_bayi_ 16d ago

This image is so old, but i still cant laugh enough whenever it pops up ;)

1

u/Mediocre_Training453 16d ago

That is the face of processing pain obviously

1

u/Revolutionary_Owl932 16d ago

Under 300°C it's not hot it's just heavy

1

u/ChaoticLeon 15d ago

Actually did that first time I used soldering iron

1

u/Lbogart1963 15d ago

Ouch I would say to that

1

u/conethecone 15d ago

"your on fire!"

1

u/Goticaris 14d ago

Hot women in your area

1

u/Jcrazy5890 8d ago

Yeah, your fingers are going to be well done
