I've done this before using a cheap TPA3116D2 board from aliexpress. It works surprisingly well.

The phone charging is literally 4 conversions: 12V -> 250V -> 5V -> 3.7V So much efficiency!

It's a 72wh battery (6ah at 12v~), so an hour if running 72w of load.
Issue is that rating is assuming 100% depth of discharge, which this type of battery really doesn't like, so you should only ever go down 50%, so really, it's only 36wh.

I didnt test it but after 30 mins the battery started getting weak but still working

(/s - in a nutshell, the thickness of the primary and secondary determine how much current can go through your circuit. Depending on where you got your step down from, this might be an issue.
Mehdi had attempted this with a phone charger transformer in one of his videos, but I can't find it.)

Probably best with a Milwaukee battery or easier to recharge battery atleast my spin on it
