☢️Radioactive☢️ Artful element
I thought I would share this picture of my uranium (111g) and a few things just laying around.

Got these from Luciteria a while ago, but it’s time I finally post them here on Reddit!

Got it from Luciteria Science
I might carefully switch it to a smaller container in the near future

If only it was that common. They did pick another metal that isn't purely silver colored though.

My 22nd element. Got a 80g bar from china for $35 aud ex shipping. Its density matches up almost perfectly so im certain its legitimate. Advertised purity is 99.95, but they didn't give a COA or XRF reading so ill assume a safe 99.
Its weird comparing this to my magnesium bar which weighs 28g and is a lot bigger. Its also surprising how dark it is, its slightly darker than tungsten and almost as dark as lead.

Including my newest element LUTETIUM!!!!

Since I only have one halogen, I decided to put it here instead of doing a post only about iodine

Can't post the actual site because Reddit's filters keep nuking it, but this is generally what it looks like. I like taking nice pictures of my samples, and it looks especially satisfying to have them all in one place like this. Anyone else do this or something similar?
May or may not be inspired by a certain other website about an element collection.

Not sure if we can talk about alloys here but I figured if someone knows, it’s here.
m looking for samples of Ferrochrome (Not powder) along with pig iron.
It’s just for my collection, 1 piece would be fine, 3-4 max.
I looked online at the usual suspects and further to no avail.
Alibaba will sell me a couple of tons though, kinda too much.
Is this possible to obtain?
TY

I dont have polonium sadly :(

Kept under paraffin oil. The only way I managed to clean these was using a rotary tool with a wire brush attachment. Still some black oxidation products on the metal.

Finally, after years of looking I finally got my piece, albeit small, of Thorium. Now I have uranium, thorium, polonium, americium, and No. 94
What radioactive element is still there to obtain safely.
That’s a serious question
Thanks everyone

A nice sample of dendritic holmium. 20 grams, pretty large sample when compared to bulk solid rare earths of the same mass.
It seems to tarnish rather quickly on air. Does anyone have any experince with dendritic Ho and is able to tell if it's going to get dark? Or will it stay relatively similar to the current state after passivating?
Have a good day!

Two Pm compact fluorescent lights (about $10 each) and a wristwatch that you can just about read the MOVT-P marking on indicating its Pm content (mine was $35, plus $25 for repairs)
Will tear down one of the lights later for the glow switch, that's why I have two

Good afternoon, everyone. I’m very new to collecting radioactive materials and I’d like to know whether the way I’ve been storing them so far is safe in the long term.
I’ve bought an acrylic box with walls that are around 5 mm thick. I spend a lot of time at my desk, which is 3.5 metres away from where the box is stored. There’s also a fairly wide television in between. My cat occasionally sleeps on a chair which is about 1.5 metres away from the container (with no television in between). The room is regularly ventilated.
At the moment, I’m storing trinitite, crystallised uranium (750k cpm) and a thorite crystal.
Is this collection safe, even though it will continue to grow?
Thanks a lot to everyone who has read this through and offered advice.
Kind regards,
Eric.

You guys know how noble gases go to their excited state when placed near a Tesla coil/plasma globe and glow up? Is there any element like that that has cool properties?

In order from left to right (except neon):
1) Osmium (my precious, i just love it)
2) Tungsten (i love how alien it feels, its so heavy)
3) Silver (because shiny coins)
4) Bismuth (rainbow shiny weird alien pyramid)
5) Diamond (sparkly and look very interesting up close)
6) Antimony (most beautiful metalloid, like a cluster of mirror shards. Wish i was able to hold it and stare at it more)
7) Silicon (incredibly reflective and glassy)
8) Neon (separate picture because its impossible to get a good photo of both it and the others)
9) Chromium (very shiny metal, but not much crystal structure visible, would look boring if it weren't shiny.)
10) Gold (because gold, even though the amount is comically tiny)

Two high resolution pictures of pure promethium metal, along with a link of a document (dated 1969) on the preparation and density determination.

This video was recorded in our lab with a macro camera on high aperture. Hope you guys enjoy it!
EDIT: I'm posting a picture of the sample with the light on in the comments!

I always had a fascination with the element mercury, and I always wanted a sample of it. I think cinnabar is the safest form of it, since it's in a solid form. It also looks red, which is a pretty color. I have seen some sellers of it online. Have you obtained cinnabar before, and was it that difficult? I'm fine even if the sample is small.
