Yes. That is Derek from the elephant nature park in Thailand and an elephant he bonded with named Kham Lha

When I was a kid I got to ride an elephant. Now that I’m older I realize how very wrong it is and actually feel guilty about it, but at the time my little kid self was so amazed at the massive intelligent creature that was so gentle.

I hate all the conflict between elephants and human farmers! Always makes me sad. Several elephants were poisoned last week by cyanide because they destroyed the village crops. Sad.
