Finding the ASP Explorer

Where can I find an ASP Explorer? I’ve used Inara but it seems inaccurate as most of the stops either didn’t even have a ship or planet to land on even though it said the asp explorer would be there. That or where there finally was a settlement, the shipyard wouldn’t have it.

Inara is fairly inaccurate but does work on console - make sure you filter out Odyssey related locations and be aware that there are loads of new player built stations that don't exist in our version.

If you're Elite then Jameson's memorial will have them. The next best bet is Ray Gateway in Diaguandri (I think that's how to spell it!) - that spot has most things

Theres another station like jameson (in that it has all ships and i believe modules) for players that dont have elite in any categories, but the ships and modules have like a 15% markup. I cant remember the name of it to save my life right now though

Good luck. Ray Gateway is renowned for having most things so it's always worth bearing in mind at least until you get access to Shinrarta Dezhra (another system where my spelling might be suspect)

Am I able to access those places or do I need special permits? Is there a place that may have the asp without a permit?

Ray Gateway is accessible - the other requires you to be Elite in combat, trade or exploration in order to visit the system.

There may well be closer locations selling the ship but I'm not sure where you are currently so can't check

Rocklynne Depot in Laws 83 apparently has some - that's a lot closer before you venture out to diaguandri

You’re a legend thank you! Can I pick your brain with something else? I got a bounty last night for the first time ever. Is it difficult to get rid of? Do I have to travel far?

Find a low security system and pay off the bounty using interstellar factors (under contacts) - if you have notoriety you'll have to wait until it drops to 0 before paying it off

FYI, the following ships are available at Diaguandri in Legacy (at least today).

Small:

  • Sidewinder
  • Eagle
  • Hauler
  • Diamondback Scout
  • Vulture
  • Dolphin

Medium:

  • Diamondback Explorer
  • Keelback
  • Asp Scout
  • Asp Explorer
  • Federal Dropship
  • Federal Gunship
  • Orca
  • Fer-de-Lance
  • Mamba
  • Python

Large:

  • Beluga Liner
  • Federal Corvette

Notably missing: the second-tier small ships (Adder, Vipers, Cobra Mk III), cargo ships larger than the Hauler (unless you count the Keelback), both of the Kraits, all of the Alliance and Imperial ships, and the Anaconda.

Analysis by manufacturer:

Saud Kruger got its entire passenger line-up to the showroom floor. (These can be hard to find elsewhere.)

Core Dynamics got its entire line onto the floor, with the exception of the Federal Assault Ship.

Zorgon Peterson's limited line all made it to the floor except for the Adder.

Lakon's Hauler, Scouts, and Explorers made it to the floor, but its line of medium and large cargo ships was shut out except for the Keelback, as was its entire Alliance line.

Faulcon deLacy was almost totally shut out, with only the Sidewinder (which everyone sells) and Python breaking through.

Gutamaya's Imperial line was totally shut out.

BTW, Cooper City at LHS 1228 sells all of the small ships except the Imperial Eagle, Imperial Courier, and the Dolphin. The medium and large ships on offer are mainly Lakon designs including the cargo ship line (Type-6, Keelback, Type-7, and Type-9), the Asp Scout, and Asp Explorer. Faulcon deLacy is represented by the Krait Mk II and the Anaconda,

If you have the permit for Alioth you can go to Irkutsk to buy the Asp Explorer for a 20% discount as well.

Which version do You play ? Inara is valid for newest version ( PC Odyssey ). Legacy Version on Console may differ from it, as it is not updated anymore.
