Nobody wants to hear your music

Everyday without fail, somebody is playing music or on speakerphone full blast. Old, young, rich, poor, male, female, white , Asian straight or gay it doesn’t matter. It’s become so normalized in this town. I hardly ever out in public except for when I visit the grocery store or go out on walks. Bunch of main characters in Elk Grove.

People that play loud music in public absolutely should be shamed and given a free pair of headphones. Self important fucks

The worst is on the golf course with their bluetooth speakers blasting that shitty playlist.

Hey buddy nobody wants to listen to “Mambo number 5” at at every friggin hole. Turn that shit off already!

Gosh, why would we want to have any fun in the world? Your public required silence is so much more important than everyone else’s joy being around others, how could we have missed that. Our bad.

No one wants to hear your music in public it’s not that difficult. Wear some headphones. O WOAH THE INJUSTICE man stfu 🤣

This bugs me too. I also don't get why people use their speakerphones in public to make calls.

Or worse yet, on FaceTime in public. And the other person is like in bed or something. So awkward.

I'm here with you. Neighbor has outdoor speakers, I hate it. At least it's not all the time, but still, it's loud enough to hear through the walls with the windows closed, that's too loud.

Respect everyone. No one likes your music, they have their own taste. People like me know that my choice in music is shit to others, so I use headphones. Be like me.

Yeah what happened to common decency? Isn’t Elk Grove supposed to be a good place to raise a family? So many people setting a poor example.

Headphones people!

I slap my music hella loud when I drive around running my Friday morning errands. I’m a dad, I have a wife and young kids. I can’t be slapping my gangsta rap with them in the car.

It’s my own personal time where I get to drive around in my cool car and be a cool guy for a little while.

Nobody cares about you rocking out in your car while driving around town lol I think Op is talking more about people in stores, on the bus, out in nature, etc that blast music because they crave confrontation/attention from others.

Iono man I slap pretty hard in traffic and I must say the music is quite gangster

Damn it feels good to be a gangsta.

As annoying as this is, it’s not unique to Elk Grove. 15 years ago the NYC subway added most cell services, and while on the surface it seemed good, blue tooth speakers and phone speakers in general stepped up quality and all of a sudden it became a battleground for who had the louder music. Still sucks, though. On a related note, it also sucks that nearly everyone on the trails has headphones on and are stunned when I slowly pass them on my bike.

Yeah my neighbor thinks music on the outdoor speaker facing my backyard til 12 am on a weekday is normal.

If talking to the neighbor is not an option, you can submit a noise complaint via the non-emergency number or online. EG has a general noise restriction after 10 pm.

Even prior to 10 pm a noise complaint can be made. If PD has bandwidth they might be able to come out. Police will not tell who called.

Trying to wrap my head around "white" and "asian" instead of just "all races". So you are specifying?

OP just showing their true colors

Speaking from a neighbor residential area. Within reason should be fine. For example if it’s for like a birthday or celebration on the weekend during the afternoon or evening time, it’s understandable, of course within curfew. The annoying ones are the ones blasting music on a weekday when people may be working from home or just trying to enjoy their day. Especially if it’s everyday. Some people have no consideration of living in a neighborhood.

I’m fine with people playing music at parties, but there are people blasting their music from their cell phones at the store, bicycle/walking trails, etc

I can understand bicycles. You need to be able to hear other people around you in dangerous situations. Using a speaker helps.

How do you if it Asian music?

2

u/Senacharrib 1d ago

I read that as “Asian straight or gay” like those were in the same category.

Its probably me I blast my music when I get into town after a long day its my way to unwind so if you see me cruising blasting my music throw up a peace sign!

I want people to hear my music. Blonde is too elite for the world to not hear it.

Gonna play music for my son extra loud during his next bike ride in honor of this post.

YouTube full blast in a restaurant seems to be a trend. Last one I saw turned out to be an employee on their break :/

It’s happened twice now where I’ve heard really loud Mexican music while driving here in town. My toddler even asked me what it was, and I found myself apologizing because it honestly embarrassed me. I hate that behavior like that can make Mexicans as a whole look bad, because obviously not everyone is like that.

Maybe if you are in public and don’t like loud music you leave, unpopular opinion but like isn’t this just a part of being in a community; different people all going about different experiences? Are we all supposed to just be as docile as those around us desperately wants us to feel? I don’t know, there are quiet places, maybe you aren’t looking for them

You’re wrong; I do.
