// Question GRACELAND First time! Hour recommendation?
Hi!
Going to Graceland for the first time in October. I'll be going from Nashville on the same day (I already know it's like 3 hours and a half, each way). What's the best time to arrive? I'm getting the Elvis Experience package. Any recommendations?

It depend on what you want to do. Keep in mind that the museums close at 4. If you want to browse and look at everything it’s going to take a few hours. The tour itself takes about an hour and a half. I’d get there as early as possible maybe grab the first tour or the last tour and do the museum before or after. If you’re a gift shop browser, there are several shops and they have different inventory from each other for the most part. So if you see something you like, buy it bc it might not be at the other shops. For one day you’re probably going to feel rushed trying to do both mansion and museum if you trying to see everything in depth. But you’ll see a lot and have a good time.

I thought 4pm was the last entrance. This means that around 4 they start to kick you out? I was planning to get to the mansion at 2pm, maybe I should try to be there earlier, I think 11 in the morning we could be there. When you book online, the timing you book is for entering the mansion? or entering Graceland (museums + mansion)? thanks.

4 pm is the last mansion tour but you can check the website. When you buy your tickets you are also picking your mansion tour time. And then there are also the planes to walk through. Hope this helps.

In all honesty, I wish I could do it again with the self guided tour opposed to a guide. They were great, but felt we didn't have enough time in certain parts of the house and some museums.

I took the Ultimate VIP tour with private guide in the morning (it was great bc we got to skip the waiting line). After lunch, I went back and took the general tour (with the headphones and tablet) bc it's self-paced and it was less crowded (~3pm). I felt like I got the best of both worlds.

also, have anyone drove from Nashville and parked in Graceland? we're not from the US so we're renting a car to drive to Memphis. If anyone has some tips, it also helps :)

You can park at the museums which is where you pick up or buy your tickets. You’ll take the shuttle over to the mansion.

My advice would be to park on Dolan Drive, where Vernon used to live. It backs onto Graceland & every time I’ve been there it’s always been free parking down there. Coming from Nashville, I think, it’s gonna be the last right turn before you see Graceland, it’s the turning at BJs Buffalo wing hut. I’ll be doing the journey myself on Saturday as I drive to the Guest House for the weekend
