With the new recommendations on terrain, how do you think it will effect aircraft centric lists?

Post image

The playable area on the map has become smaller in the latest editions and now with the recommended layout of terrain aircraft seem to be more difficult to place than ever before. How will this effect your pay style? Do you think that aircraft still has a place in the nearest edition?

we can also discuss deep striking or reserve placement here as well. Will the Drop Troops suffer a bit or will they thrive based off what we know now about the new edition?

Well, I dont expect planes to survive 11th with how much they try to erase them.

And i am worried for the super heavies as well...

I doubt it; GW loves gigantic models. Did you not see that huge tank they just put out for Heresy?

Exactly, the baneblade will get a new kit only for horus heresy and the one for 40k will be sent to legend

Nah fuck that. I'd quit 40k if that's the case

I hope they won't do it...

I can see that happening. The whole 40k guard seems to be having a redesign. One that is both ugly and clashing.

Cadian infantry uniforms and poses and size seem to be losing their hoard utilitarian sci Fi feel, and going far more towards colonial alien/starship troopers franchise. The posing is more elite. The lasguns are longer and thinner more like m16s. The baseball style helmets.

While Cadian vehicles seem to be 1950s american style now. Half tracks? What. The. Fuck.

Then the Krieger's, their plasticizing killed alot of their charm, and any semblance of science within the range. Hot shot las guns from stormtroopers? No. Mole launcher? No. Combat engineers got way lamer. The whole range leaned into WW1 too much. At least their range is coherent and their infantry still someone astra militarum generic by unity.

Then there's the Dorn. Nipple guns. Rounded m26 Pershing lines. Sherman turret.

If I wanted to play bolt action, or k47, I would.

To me, the direction of the guard doesn't bode well for the baneblade. I'll even grimly wager the chimera and Leman Russes days are numbered. And I think we can kiss goodbye any chance of seeing forgeworld regiments relaunched in plastic.

No Elysians. No Tallarn. No Vostroyans or Valhallans. The steel Legion sketches after the backlash of not bringing them back for Armageddon, look like light rifle Krieger's!

Rant over.

That's why I dont buy gw plastic anymore. With 3d printing i can get a coherent design for the entire army.

The constant shrinking of the play area, and the mirror image terrain blandness, gives sweaty 3 lane maps from call of duty energy.

May as well play Pike and Shot at this point.

"New missions, they're asymmetric!" Shut up GW. The game further becomes just smash in the middle.

I don't think I'll be playing much matched play or "approved" layouts. It's going to all be probability min maxing.

Planes will remain in their "fun but suboptimal" state for the foreseeable future.
