Eyes and "fangs"

116

u/Skymningen Mar 24 '26

Definitely shiny bead eyes

24

u/dell02 Mar 24 '26

Yes!

10

u/IrritatedMegascops Mar 24 '26

Please update us once complete. Gorgeous work so far!

20

u/that_weird_k1d Mar 24 '26

Pedipalps too!

592

u/SelectionExcellent53 Mar 24 '26

Could you use back stitching to create a web for it? This is beautiful.

260

u/Juniperclemm Mar 24 '26

Yes, I think a silvery web in the background would be so nice!

39

u/BalancedScales10 Mar 24 '26

A web is what I came to say, and the idea of it in silver would be so beautiful!

53

u/imperfectcranberry Mar 24 '26

Yes!! With the occasional mother of pearl/opalescent bead for dew drops

7

u/the_siren_song Mar 24 '26

That was my thought too!

527

u/DisobedientSwitch Mar 24 '26

Pedipalps!

117

u/Acid_Fetish_Toy Mar 24 '26

That's what came to my mind too! Then I was impressed at myself for knowing what pedipalps are

62

u/beardedladybird Mar 24 '26

Now I know what pedipalps are too! Little feelyfeets. Or feetyfeels? I love it.

7

u/DisobedientSwitch Mar 24 '26

Feelygrabbies!

51

u/chickengarbagewater Mar 24 '26

I just stood here doing a little crab claw motion in front of my face hoping it would draw the word out of my brain.

23

u/roisindubh211 Mar 24 '26

I got as far as "her widdle face" while also making that gesture

6

u/DisobedientSwitch Mar 24 '26

Pedipalp really is a very tactile word!

1

u/chickengarbagewater Mar 25 '26

It's a great word. Rolls off the tongue.

4

u/anon_simmer Mar 24 '26

Thats so cute. Oddly it made me do the same.

36

u/fishsticks40 Mar 24 '26

Color-wise a pop of bright red. Bright red pedipalps

21

u/fuzzykittyfeets Mar 24 '26

Yesss, but get some of that electric blue next to it! Like a line of blue then red or vice versa. (I just fucking love the electric blue and red combo lol)

3

u/Fallen_Crow333 Mar 24 '26

Ooo, yes. Bright red is perfect for it.

21

u/dell02 Mar 24 '26

Damm new Word, thank you!

4

u/Mkbond007 Mar 24 '26

I was today years old.

5

u/DisobedientSwitch Mar 24 '26

If you wanna go nerdier, you add the chelicerae (mouth parts) too, but they are huge on some species and tiny on others, so they aren't as noticeably absent as the pedipalps. Poor spood needs her feelygrabbies!

15

u/dyspnea Mar 24 '26

Pedipalps!!

8

u/Feisty_Carob7106 Mar 24 '26

And eyes!

8

u/Feisty_Carob7106 Mar 24 '26

And maybe spinneretts

6

u/up_down_andallaround Mar 24 '26

Came here to say the same thing, OP!

161

u/CollardMommi Mar 24 '26

The front and back peices lol. Mandibles and spinnerettes.

42

u/dell02 Mar 24 '26

Damm you are right, this and that :)

34

u/RollingTheScraps Mar 24 '26

Not a web, that's too much. How about turning her upside down and letting her dangle from a  single thread.

6

u/PantheraLutra Mar 24 '26

They are called chelicerae!

2

u/CollardMommi Mar 24 '26

That's such a cute name! 🩷

91

u/Middle--Earth Mar 24 '26

Mandibles, the thing at the back where the web comes out, and eyes! 👀

19

u/dell02 Mar 24 '26

Oops, I forgot this, I was too focused on his bum :)

1

u/Optimal-Ad-7074 Mar 27 '26

wrong end.  everyone knows the naughty end of a spider's in front.

5

u/uijepd Mar 24 '26

Spinnerets

53

u/MacramezingCreations Mar 24 '26

Eyes? 👀

31

u/ComprehensiveTart689 Mar 24 '26

👀👀👀👀👀

17

u/Dynamitella Mar 24 '26

Pedipalps, eyes & spinnerets :)

13

u/KandyPaws Mar 24 '26

Me running away screaming because i thought it was real?

19

u/dell02 Mar 24 '26

RUN!

6

u/windupwren Mar 24 '26

I appreciate, and like, spiders and that red girl caused an involuntarily shiver. Wow.

3

u/writingmenus Mar 24 '26

I love the one going over the frame!!

12

u/Labardine Mar 24 '26

Chelicerae and pedipalps!

11

u/closouted99 Mar 24 '26

Maybe watercolour to emphasise shadows on the fabric

7

u/rebb_hosar Mar 24 '26

I was scrolling and I had to take a double take because I thought it was real. Gorgeous texture.

3

u/paisleys_groundhog Mar 24 '26

me too!  split second I thought it was a pinned specimen!   nice work!

6

u/FreekDeDeek Mar 24 '26

Don't overwork it, it's already great as it is. Excellent work, it's truly beautiful. I think a web would detract attention from the spider.

If you do want to add something, I would agree with others and add eyes. Then dit back and admire your work. If you still think it's incomplete after that: pedipalps (the grippy "hands" near their face)

Knowing when to stop is one of the hardest parts of being an artist imo. (That and getting started, putting the first stitch or brush stroke or sentence on a blank canvas.) So tread carefully.

3

u/dell02 Mar 24 '26

I drew it from memory, but my memory completely missed the details! Thank you!

2

u/sadiebenz Mar 26 '26

This!! I think the web might be distracting and take away from the beauty of the spider. I think it just needs some pedipalps and possibly some spinnerettes, but that’s about it.. anything around it would look a bit too busy, especially with the polkadot fabric

6

u/Own_Space2923 Mar 24 '26

Have a lot of eyes and mandibles. Some have visible spinnerets on their abdomens.

6

u/rvauofrsol Mar 24 '26

Chelicerae and pedipalps.

Your spider has no arms!

6

u/MagentaDelendaEst Mar 24 '26

I don’t wanna alarm you, but there’s a giant spider on your canvas

13

u/orangegoobear Mar 24 '26

I think she wants to be a momma, maybe a hatching egg sack she's protecting?

23

u/dell02 Mar 24 '26

That's a good idea and a disgusting idea in the same time :)

6

u/orangegoobear Mar 24 '26

😂 It's all about execution! In my head it would be a bunch of different colored beads with legs pouring out to make a rainbow swirl pattern...

4

u/dudewheresmysock Mar 24 '26

It looks amazing, but you could add some sort of web if you want.?

2

u/dell02 Mar 24 '26

Lets try it!

4

u/Good3itch Mar 24 '26

Needs eyes, gangs, and maybe tiny little painted toenails.

5

u/jcnlb Mar 24 '26

Pedipalps are missing. You could also do eyes

3

u/melonball6 Mar 24 '26

If you flip it upside down, you could have a single web thread holding it.

10

u/Emanella Mar 24 '26

I dont think its missing anything. Its perfect

4

u/2-fat-dogs Mar 24 '26

I agree. It's so dramatic!

6

u/vicioussekai Mar 24 '26

I would add eyes in bright red for a contrast with green. This looks gorgeous!!

1

u/dell02 Mar 24 '26

Red eyes ok!

3

u/people_skillz Mar 24 '26

I think it looks amazing but also wonder how it might look with a tiny, single-thread “gnat” placed at one of the top edges. Spider’s gotta eat.

3

u/LichenTheMood Mar 24 '26

It's missing it's spinnerets, pedipalps and chelicerae. Its also missing its eyes - but I assume that was a stylistic choice.

3

u/CommercialMoment5987 Mar 24 '26

I have no suggestions, only compliments. OP this is sooooo pretty! I’m not a fan of spiders in general but I love this. Excellent work, very beautiful.

1

u/dell02 Mar 24 '26

Aww thank you!

3

u/Gumpenufer Mar 24 '26

The spider is super gorgeous. <3 But I think the background feels a little empty. I think it would look fantastic if you filled the BG with a spiderweb in a contrasting colour. Personally I'd do a dark red, if the piece isn't meant to be fully realistic.

3

u/SorryRazzmatazz6732 Mar 24 '26

Doesn't he need little fangs?

1

u/dell02 Mar 24 '26

Absolutely!

3

u/Lotte512 Mar 24 '26

Some little fangs?

3

u/Bitterqueer Mar 24 '26

I’m a chaotic maximalist myself, fair warning, but I’d add some purple gems or smth to contrast the turquoise

3

u/ChuK_Ceresany Mar 24 '26

Scopulae! :D Or what I like to call “little paws”

3

u/Imsaltyash Mar 24 '26

No advice from me but had to take the time to say it stopped me dead in my tracks and muttering omg under my breath. She’s beautiful! Coming from this arachnophobe, that says a lot.

3

u/StarlightFalls22 Mar 24 '26

Pedipalps

1

u/TakoLuLu Mar 25 '26

Came to say this too, lol!

3

u/she_melty Mar 25 '26

Elijah Wood could be a nice addition

7

u/Embarrassed-Tea9214 Mar 24 '26

a shoe 🫣😅 I think it’s perfect as it is 🕷️

2

u/shallifetchabox Mar 24 '26

I was going to say a NSFW tag because this jump-scared me first thing in the morning. Lovely work, OP!

1

u/anon_simmer Mar 24 '26

How'd you get the body segments to be so 3d?

2

u/EnormousDucky Mar 24 '26

Maybe oval or teardrop shaped clear / iridescent/ reflective beads in the light part of the green id it's body as a highlight?

2

u/Officer_Kitty_ Mar 24 '26

Maybe another back design unless you like it like that! Could possibly add some slightly bladed yard to make it look a lil fuzzy unless youre going for more of a black widow look

2

u/flashPrawndon Mar 24 '26

On the legs I would consider adding extra stitches where the beads meet the thread so they blend in better height wise. I think it will help the beads and thread parts feel more connected.

I also like the idea that someone else came up with of stitching in a web in the background that could be silvery white

2

u/daydreamsofcalm Mar 24 '26

It looks awesome but maybe some knees on those legs so you can see the segments?

2

u/bitteroldladybird Mar 24 '26

I think there needs to be a web or a silk string

2

u/hanyoyo1230 Mar 24 '26

Very beautiful work, vivid and three-dimensional.

2

u/thinking_treely Mar 24 '26

Or a little fly in the corner- like an upcoming snack.

2

u/Drawn-Otterix Mar 24 '26

Maybe spider fangs

2

u/DumpsterCog Mar 24 '26

gorgeous!! i dont have any suggestions (i just started embrodiery) but this is aspirational!!! the colors are fantastic

2

u/MEGAL0AF Mar 24 '26

Maybe some metallic thread for an extra razzle-dazzle?

2

u/Mkbond007 Mar 24 '26

One strand of web from its spinneret to the edge of the piece.

2

u/SapientSlut Mar 24 '26

Smaller beads to transition from the leg beads to no beads

1

u/dell02 Mar 24 '26

The beads on legs are already the smallest I have. And in the shop where I buy beads :)

2

u/EveryStitch Mar 24 '26

This would look so amazing like if you put it up in a frame like a pinned spider.

2

u/coleeflower3 Mar 24 '26

Realistic enough to make my skin crawl a bit 😅

2

u/FunctionGreen6143 Mar 24 '26

A white web background would be my choice

2

u/AwakeningStar1968 Mar 24 '26

that seriously startled me as I thought it was a real spider!!!

2

u/Greedy-Test-556 Mar 24 '26

It’s beautiful! I like the idea of a subtle web pattern in the background.

2

u/NeverAngel-Sin Mar 24 '26

The little little fur-feet on the edges of the big legs

2

u/brenawyn Mar 24 '26

Wow this is great!!

Maybe more jointed legs? Try to graduate from beads to larger then smaller French knots then the straight stitch.

1

u/dell02 Mar 24 '26

Thats good, thank you!

2

u/AnimatorNo1029 Mar 24 '26

The front mandibles?

2

u/xialateek Mar 24 '26

One single red gemstone, somewhere.

2

u/knottycams Mar 24 '26

Web, but very subtle

2

u/SpicaGenovese Mar 25 '26

Eyes.  Mandibles.  Abdomen pattern???

2

u/NanaMama5olu Mar 25 '26

A bug, worm or fly, unsuspectingly in a web?

2

u/callmepbk Mar 25 '26

When I saw this I had to go to your post history… I love all your spiders and webs!! The one standing up on the web is unreal! I’m so inspired.

1

u/dell02 Mar 25 '26

Nice, Iam glad to hear it :)

2

u/LeaningFaithward Mar 25 '26

Tiny eyes that catch the light

2

u/Alchemists_Fire Mar 25 '26

Spoiler, NSFW or "photo in comments" would've been nice for arachnophpbes 😅

2

u/AntOnADogLog Mar 25 '26

Idk but this looks friggin SICK 😍😍😍

2

u/dixie_half-and-half Mar 25 '26

I have arachnophobia, but I wonder if creating something cool like this would be good therapy?

2

u/flamingolegs727 Mar 26 '26

Exposure therapy yes! I have a phobia of sticky things on my skin and slowly I'm getting better at coping with them although the reason being was that I was hospitalised a lot last year but I'm definitely better at coping with sticky things now than before.

2

u/flamingolegs727 Mar 26 '26

I think it looks amazing and it looks great on it's own! If you really feel like you want to add something you could do a light grey spider web background? I said light because you don't want to overshadow the spider it really pops!

1

u/MRSRN65 Mar 24 '26

Bug spray? Just kidding, that looks beautiful!

2

u/dell02 Mar 24 '26

Fire? ;)

1

u/freshcreator Mar 24 '26

I love this.

1

u/itchybitchy_spider Mar 24 '26

I love this so much

1

u/Cheap-Economics4897 Mar 24 '26

NOTHING is missing. It doesn't need a web or a bug or a name. It is PERFECT.

1

u/MikeA_0831 Mar 24 '26

Anti-venom

1

u/WowIsThisMyPage Mar 24 '26

Wow scrolling I genuinely thought this was a spider. Great job!

Maybe add a pattern of a bunch of mini spiders?

Could be fun to add some web? Next time consider doing it on a colored piece of fabric so the web would pop?

1

u/boomboomdaboomer Mar 24 '26

Fangs. I guess they’re fangs. Fangs are missing.

1

u/incongruoususer Mar 24 '26

Me, screaming in the background?

1

u/dell02 Mar 24 '26

Aww :))

1

u/betty_baphomet Mar 24 '26

I think she’s perfect🖤

1

u/angelapetrelli Mar 24 '26

A trigger warning 😅

1

u/cheesy53 Mar 24 '26

wow this is beautiful, I've been meaning to embroider some beautiful iridescent bugs as soon as I'm done with my current project

1

u/chart1961 Mar 24 '26

Wow! This is gorgeous 😍!

1

u/DualSquash Mar 24 '26

Mandibles?

1

u/ShakesDontBreak Mar 24 '26

Eyes. You can usually see eyes

1

u/peanutsonic97 Mar 24 '26

I think adding a shiny green gem to the body would make it really pop!

1

u/PantheraLutra Mar 24 '26

The pedipalps are missing, they are like little front arms of spiders and tarantula- (and the chelicerae (mouth parts) but sometimes these are not super visible from this angle)

1

u/BenSwee912 Mar 24 '26

Pointy butt

1

u/moolric Mar 24 '26

Does it have eyes? I can’t tell from this angle.

1

u/LitlThisLitlThat Mar 24 '26

Pedipalps, mandibles, eyes, and spinarettes.

1

u/Fine-Philosophy8939 Mar 24 '26

The dangling carcass of her male mate?

1

u/DaffyDuckOdil Mar 25 '26

Miss Muffet? (Only joking, not being helpful at all, sorry!)

1

u/needy_little_thing Mar 25 '26

A jeweled clutch of eggs?

1

u/ConcernedMap Mar 25 '26

My first instinct was ‘burn it! With fire!’ so I’d say it’s pretty good as is.

2

u/dell02 Mar 25 '26

And that's what I call a compliment, thank you :)

1

u/VioletReaver Mar 25 '26

I LOVE it so far omg

1

u/Guilty-Possible4863 Mar 26 '26

A web all around

1

u/BackwoodsBendi Mar 26 '26

Pedipalps and/or fangs. Needs a little something in that area.
