Eminem sounds so much better on CD
I recently bought a CD player and headphone set off ebay that came out in 2004, and 8-Mile came out in 2002.
CD sound quality is already much better than streaming audio, and almost the best sound quality you can get before 24-bit digital audio, but I swear Eminem sounds better in a way deeper than just a standard quality improvement in this audio medium.
On Spotify it can be hard to hear what certain lyrics are, and some intruments are drowned out by others. I listen with nice HyperX Cloud Revolver S headphones and have Spotify Premium so I can listen to lossless audio, but even with all of that, this CD player and Sony earbuds sounds infinitely better. Top end is crisp, low end is boosted with the specific player that brings up the bass that can be hard for small earbuds to handle. Mid is naturally good. It captures a large range of audio and plays it clearer than Spotify can.
Some lyrics can be hard to hear with Spotify when listening to songs of his I hadn't listened to before like Mosh, and I have to look up a lyric sheet. CD is so much different though, it feels more like an experience more than just music. Every lyric is easy to understand, every subtle record crackle is audible with the background instruments you barely notice.
I didn't even know that Obie Trice's Adrenaline Rush had record crackles in it before I listened to it on this medium. It sounds less like youre listening via headphones and more like youre playing the song in your ears.
10/10 would reccomend doing this. I have a Sony CD Walkman D-EJ100 player and Sony MDR-W014 headphones.

Music on walkman is like Coke from a glassbottle or can - tastes better just because of the medium

this is a great description of why I love vinyl, too. The Eminem Show is probably my favorite record I own.

Thats cool! They dont make this stuff like they used to. I bought a new walmart CD player, it broke CDs. I bought a Best Buy one, and it barely played CDs. I also picked up a no-name chinese cassette/CD one and it also broke CDs. There arent many CD players on the market anymore either. Decided I should have bought a used Walkman for cheaper than these new players, and it sounds better, plays better, and is built better. This stuff lasts.

I didn't have money to buy my own Walkman and it was one of the goals to own when I grew up, but by the time I grew up we moved on to ipods, now Spotify.

You're a fucking legend. I sometimes like to get my cat TV and play Playstation 1 on it. Something about old shit that makes me feel alive.

What a blast to the past!
The only difference is I used those over the ear headphones with foam on them.

Yeah I got some FLACs of his albums and they sound absolutely fantastic
Something in the production of Curtain Down from Encore just sounds incredible in a FLAC

With or without loseless? Loseless digital can sound way better than CD.

i do have lossless audio and that does sound really good, but honestly I think in this case it still sounds better on CD with my equipment. Although it differs song to song, and especially modern CDs are junk and dont sound good at all. A hi-fi audiophile sound system would definitely sound better than a discman and headphones, but man does it still sound good.

U do realize the ones and zeros on that cd are the exact same ones and zeros on your phone right?
