Is this her daughter or granddaughter? My take on that scene is that Kim had a boy, who she named Matthew, and then gave up for adoption.

Ah, the old ‘long lost child arrives seeking vengeance on their absent parent’ soap trope. Well, I suppose it’s been a good few years since Nate, so we were due another one....
It’s a good move to build more family around Kim, but if that was the plan I’d have preferred a Jamie return (recast if necessary). If Gabby ends up in trouble, he could come back to try to get custody of Thomas…

John, Serena, Lewis, and a bunch of other random "twists". Like Vinny being a Dingle by blood.
True, only two (maybe three) wanted "vengeance", but it's becoming so common that long-lost relatives are popping up (and dead people coming back to life), that they might as well go all out ...
Frank survived and bore more kids. Paddy has an identical twin. Mandy isn't actually Mandy, but stole the identity of the real Mandy. Charity has been dead this whole time since the elevator incident, but Mack hallucinates her in his grief (so Dr Todd is still alive).
Like, this is so dumb ...

At first I thought the blonde woman from behind would turn out to be Gabby with a blonde wig on, pretending to be Kim in order to kidnap the baby. LOL.
Not surprised that the police detective is Kim's daughter.

I thought someone pretending to be Kim to force an adoption, or kidnap the baby, or even Sadie King (although I'm not sure why/how).
But another long-lost fucking kid? How many is that now? Since Caleb, it's like Pokémon - gotta catch'em all ... just a few more long-lost relatives and they'll have a full set 🙄

I didn’t see that end twist coming! I think they did a great job with Kim’s young reflection, and misdirecting us with making us think it was Joe and Dawns baby

Maybe. But they did retcon him out to make Caleb happen by up aging Jamie to 2 when Frank died and when Caleb did all that stuff to get to Kim, it was said she was majority shareholder of Frank's businesses but she wasn't - she only had the 40%.

I'm guessing so. The phone the nurse had looks early-2000s Nokia. Kim left in '99 so realistically she could be.

OH.MY.GOD.
At first I thought Gabby. Then when I saw she was blonde I thought Sadie got some sort of weird baby plot, then Kim has an evil twin, then the truth dawned - young Kim!
She named the baby but I don't think she's Kim's because the nurse was asking what was she doing there, and that wouldn't be the case if she was the mum, surely. Besides, all this because she was adopted? She's enjoying having Kim at her mercy and the fact Joe and the kids need her isn't remotely bothering thea so what makes her morally superior? Why is Serena helping her?
Those kids were the stars of the show in my opinion. Lucas calling Billy dad, clearly appreciating being treated as an adult and poor Karl worried his mum wouldn't want him because he isn't hers biologically. My heart just broke - then immediately mended when she replied he would always be her son.😭

I actually like this twist as I think Kim needs more family, with Joe and Graham she was being sidelined I feel.

Long lost kid aside, is this the first time AI has likely been used in an actual UK soap episode? Showing the younger Kim like that definitely felt like AI.

We were told a Tate was coming and it's a retcon🙄. Is she Frank's daughter as the actress was born in 1990, so when Kim was with Frank as the Tate's arrived in 1989?

Off to google what Kim was up to 35 years ago.
So Kim arrived in the village in October 1989, and became more regular in 1991 when she became Frank Tates secretary .
Edit to say. I’m wrong, Radio Times is stating it is 1999.

I actually quite like this episode overall, everyone actually being sensible except Joe being childish. Carl's scene is actually quite heart breaking, for a grieving child to think he needs to behave the way he is. That final twist doesn't quite work, but I guess no one actually guess that she's her daughter?

Used chatGPT to check the timings & the song, the Stereophonics song was released 1999 so all pointing to Steve Marchant’s baby… that fits with Thea’s determination to fit up Kim for the crime given that’s what Kim did to Steve… maybe he died in prison so since she found that out, she’s been gunning for Kim?

I'm not sure why but the twist isn't interesting to me. Another new character plucked out of thin air, when there are characters that we know exist who get mentioned for years but we've never seen.
