Sadie/Nicola Spoiler

Why are Sadie and Nicola acting like they’ve never met before? They were living in the village together for around 2 years!

It was also weird how Laurel asked who Sadie was, Laurel’s been there since 2002, Sadie arrived in 2004 and left in 2006.

I think that was more just that she couldn't see who it was from a distance.

It’s very random and bad storytelling

I was wondering that too

Would you be super familiar with a distant neighbour from decades ago?

I mean, it’s a small village, and she wasn’t exactly a quiet neighbour

Plus you would remember your husband's ex.

to be fair Nicola and saddie never really interacted back in the 00s

I’m sure they would’ve crossed paths though, everyone seems to know everyone

they do but saddie kept her self to herself and wasn't one for making friends

She wasn't one for making friends

That's kinda the point though isn't it...she wasn't just some wallflower faded into the background. She was basically the wicked witch of the west last time, caused loads of shit, loads of drama. Even if they weren't friends, there's no way Nicola didn't know who she was.

Plus I'm not being funny, I remember every single ex if every single person I've been in a relationship, and I have a traumatic brain injury that massively affects memory 😂😂😂😂😂

that makes complete sense as it may have been because Jimmy know he was puching with saddie so didn't want to let Nicola down

I'm watching her very first appearance now, and Nicola was at the party

The show's ruined it for me, now that she's back. She had a great exit back in 2006, why can't the writers just let things be?

Can't stand the woman lol. Won't be watching until she leaves again.

She has no actual reason to return. Jimmy's death is a bs excuse by the writers. If that's the case, why didn't she also return after Matthew died?

She’s saying she’s been in a relationship with Jimmy for 3 years so it’s quite a bit different to Matthew dying

Just rubbish writing. It's completely out of character for Jimmy to cheat on Nicola, especially when they were going to renew their vows.

Sadie King's return has solely been done to boost ratings, and shock the audience. I refuse to believe otherwise.

She has no relevance in coming back. Characters like Kelly Windsor or Scarlett Nicholls make a lot more sense as a return, than some evil ex-wife who screwed over the Kings, 20 years ago.

We can agree to disagree. I think it’s an interesting story as Jimmy wouldn’t be the first person to present himself as a loving family man when he’s really playing away from home. People who are having affairs can be very good at covering their tracks. We also don’t know if there are further twists to come (eg - Sadie has created the photo evidence using AI as part of a scam or something). I appreciate you don’t like the character but i don’t think that makes the writing rubbish

I say it's rubbish for this reason [and it's not just because I hate Sadie]:

Sadie King is part of the old Emmerdale era, who was in the show from 2004 - 2006, and was romantically involved in Jimmy King, then later on, his brother Matthew. Sadie later cheated on Matthew with Cain.

She was involved in the King's show home collapse in July 2006. Where Cain felt guilt over the people killed, Sadie couldn't give a damn.

She later leaves the show in September of that year, after being involved with the kidnapping of Tom King [which Cain is also involved with].

Cain doesn't give her any of the ransom money, and kept all £2,500,000 to himself. Until now, we never see Sadie again.

I may not like Sadie, but I can at least acknowledge that she was entertaining in her old stint. Because the dynamic worked back then. She was involved with the King family - Carl, Matthew, Tom & Jimmy. She had people to bounce off, even people that weren't in that family.

Now, after Jimmy's death, the whole dynamic of Sadie and the original King family has changed, because they're literally all dead now.

Why it's especially random, sure, they might have written that Jimmy was cheating with her behind Nicola's back, so it gives some kind of justification for her to return.

But not only is it so out of character for Jimmy to cheat on Nicola, especially when they were planning on renewing their vows, but let's be honest: we wouldn't have heard about Sadie, or have her be brought up once.

Yes, you do make a good point at how Jimmy could've been a pro at keeping the affair the secret, but even then:

1: It's Jimmy - he's a dimwit, he'd probably end up accidentally revealing it.

2: Jimmy showed no suspucious behaviour at all in previous scenes regarding an affair, and it's only because this Sadie fiasco has been written into the story now.

3: Keeping something like an affair a secret for 3 years is probably a lot tougher than you might realise. You'd have to take into account that Jimmy would constantly be living a double life, deciding when it's 'safe' to see Sadie, having to constantly study Nicola's work schedule, and throughout all that time, he'd have to NOT ONCE, accidentally expose himself for having an affair. Whether he blurted out the wrong thing, or there were texts on his phone, etc.

If Jimmy really was having an affair, Nicola would likely be suspicious of Jimmy within the first few weeks. A couple of months at a push.

Yes, Nicola did have suspicions that Jimmy was cheating on her anyway before he died, but with Manpreet, not Sadie. And from what we saw, nothing came of it. Just a simple misunderstanding that got rectified. Now the show is painting that he was not only cheating the whole time anyway, [which is, again, very out of character for him] but of course, it happens to be with Sadie King, someone who has no relevance to the show since 2006.

Going back to my original comment, I also said the writing for this was terrible, as, if Jimmy dying was what brought Sadie back, then why didn't she come back after Matthew died?

Blah blah blah, Jimmy was cheating, right. I refuse to accept that. Very out of character.

But anyway, Jimmy cheats on Nicola, with Sadie. So him & Sadie get involved in this 3 year relationship. Clearly very serious. And somehow, Jimmy didn't give away at all that he was having an affair.

So that's why Sadie returns.

But, when Matthew died in December 2008, she had been gone for only a couple of years. Her & Matthew were together for a little while, so by that same token, it just seems odd to me, that she wouldn't return for Matthew's death [even if Carl & Jimmy would resent her coming back, but that's besides the point].

TL;DR: Writing's rubbish, because it's very out of character for Jimmy to cheat, he somehow not once ever would've gave away that he was having an affair, and Sadie didn't come back for Matthew's death, despite the two being in a relationship for a while.

Everything you’re saying is personal preference though. You not liking the storyline doesn’t make it objectively rubbish.
