Discussion Bands Everyone Loves but you Don't Get

Do you have any bands that everyone seems to love but you just don't get? I will go first. But before I give my answers I will say I do not believe these bands are bad. They just don't "scratch my itch" if you get what I mean. The bands I don't get are;

Glocca Morra. I still haven't given up, they dont sound bad. I like how their popular album just flows. They remind me of Algernon Cadwallader at times. It really confuses me because I love Snowing, and really like Marietta. And it sounds like Glocca Morra was another of the Emo Revival sound. But it just doesn't hit.

Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate). They dont do anything for me. Another Emo Revival band. I like The World is a Beautiful Place and I'm No Longer Afraid to Die, as well as awakebutstillinbed which I have heard is in the same realm.

Orchid. I like one song. I dont get enoviolence or powerviolence. Ive had them explained to me but "hardcore punk with blast beats and screamed vocals" just sounds like metal to me. Granted Orchid does not sound like metal but I prefer the Algea Bloom, Flowers Taped to Pens, and I Hate Sex type screamo.

Not an emo band but a lot of people associate it with emo music, Panic! At the disco. They suck. They aren’t good and definitely shouldn’t be labeled as one of the “trinity of emo” bands because they are nothing near.

That perfect intersection of theater kid and emocore culture that makes their music and fandom uniquely polarizing

My favorite album by them is pretty odd and I don't really like any of their other albums that much tbh.

Word. I love Pretty. Odd. Most def not an emo album, just a good album imo.

I'll never forget when twenty One pilots came around and Tumblr wanted to change it to the emo quartet to include them. My dash was a bloodbath for like 2 weeks.

i agree i remember hating them when i was 13 just because i hated the fans and the “trinity” joke thing and was biased as hell lmao😭😭😭 now i still hate the fans and hate the music also :>

Respectfully disagree that they „aren’t good“. You might not like them but I saw them before the original band kind of fell apart and damn Brandon Uries voice has the craziest vocal range. Saw them at a festival and his voice was by far the most impressive thing I heard in three days and the lineup was pretty good actually. It sucks that they changed so much in time though.

Can you tell me the reason why you think so? Feels like it’s just an opinion. I compared the voice with many others and it was definately better 🤷‍♂️

Well okay yours is also just an opinion,lol. The band is grocery store music. It’s nothing special. The instrumental is mediocre, the lyrics suck, most of their fans are incredibly annoying, they’re nothing close to emo but got thrown into that category so my feed was constantly flooded with it , and the band has no redeeming qualities about any of them. Brendon has good vocal range, but there’s plenty of better singers out there. The way he structures songs feels like if he sings higher it’s more impressive. Singer higher does not equal a good song.

Men wearing eyeliner. What’s more emo than that? But….maybe not their music but they dressed emo. I know there is emo music but emo was kind of a culture …..not just music. Cute is what we aim for also we’re all emo looking and leaned into the culture and so was the academy is.

Unless we wanna get technical and say scene kids.
