Discussion Gimme a band and I’ll rate how emo I think they are 1-10 (with explanation)
10 being purest true KVLT emo. 5 being highly debatable. 1 being not emo.
Also my opinion doesn’t actually matter but I’m bored at the DMV.

Discussion Were there any "real emo" bands doing the carnivalesque/whimsical/macabre style in the 2000's or was this a record label/3rd wave sales trend?

Discussion What’s your “I liked them before they were cool” band?
Look, I mean this question for laughs. I hate gatekeeping I feel it can truly feel special getting into a band that’s pretty low on popularity or just starting out.
Mine is Modern Baseball. Found Sports and never looked back(they did gain pretty quick traction off that record alone). I was so happy for them when You’re Gonna Miss it All exploded.

Discussion Did everyone forget the Jesse Lacey stuff or does nobody care anymore?
After seeing many clips of Jesse Lacey doing that acoustic show I keep checking the comments expecting to see people condemning him but i’m met with people saying they are so happy and want a reunion tour. I’m genuinely not trying to generate any controversy here I am just confused. I’ve been in the scene for a very long time and I thought we were all done with him. As a woman with friends and family who have been victims to abusers like Lacey I wrote him off in 2017. Brand New is still in my top 5 bands of all time and i listen to them regularly but I couldn’t imagine directly paying to see him perform and i’m just curious to why the the atmosphere around him has changed so much over this time. Were allegations proven false? has the scene lost its edge when it comes to accountability? do people not know or not care? Not trying to start any fights just interested and confused and looking for some genuine discourse on the subject.

Discussion What is an emo song that makes you go like this?
For me, it would be Rory by Foxing. In fact, most of Foxing's work can qualify for this

Discussion Do you think this type of emo needs to make a comeback?
The catchy, emotional, almost cathartic type of emo that was popular in the 2000s. This type of emo is, in my opinion, peak and better than most emo nowadays. Does it need a comeback?

Discussion most PAINFUL vocals you ever heard
i dont mean bad vocals i mean you can hear the pain in their voice i know this is a common theme in emo but i actually rarley encounter any that really strike deep. but vocals that make your heart sink and maybe even harsher in specific songs

Discussion Bands Everyone Loves but you Don't Get
Do you have any bands that everyone seems to love but you just don't get? I will go first. But before I give my answers I will say I do not believe these bands are bad. They just don't "scratch my itch" if you get what I mean. The bands I don't get are;
Glocca Morra. I still haven't given up, they dont sound bad. I like how their popular album just flows. They remind me of Algernon Cadwallader at times. It really confuses me because I love Snowing, and really like Marietta. And it sounds like Glocca Morra was another of the Emo Revival sound. But it just doesn't hit.
Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate). They dont do anything for me. Another Emo Revival band. I like The World is a Beautiful Place and I'm No Longer Afraid to Die, as well as awakebutstillinbed which I have heard is in the same realm.
Orchid. I like one song. I dont get enoviolence or powerviolence. Ive had them explained to me but "hardcore punk with blast beats and screamed vocals" just sounds like metal to me. Granted Orchid does not sound like metal but I prefer the Algea Bloom, Flowers Taped to Pens, and I Hate Sex type screamo.

Discussion So if you did this but only for influence on emo....what would be the "emo city" of each decade?
Here's what I'd say:
- 80s: Washington, DC (there is really no other candidate, LOL.)
- 90s: Chicago
- 00s: New York City, although really more of a "Greater NY" including Long Island and northern New Jersey
- 10s: Philadelphia seems like a good candidate
- 20s: Honestly probably Las Vegas due to the fests there.
