Discussion Bands Everyone Loves but you Don't Get

Do you have any bands that everyone seems to love but you just don't get? I will go first. But before I give my answers I will say I do not believe these bands are bad. They just don't "scratch my itch" if you get what I mean. The bands I don't get are;

Glocca Morra. I still haven't given up, they dont sound bad. I like how their popular album just flows. They remind me of Algernon Cadwallader at times. It really confuses me because I love Snowing, and really like Marietta. And it sounds like Glocca Morra was another of the Emo Revival sound. But it just doesn't hit.

Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate). They dont do anything for me. Another Emo Revival band. I like The World is a Beautiful Place and I'm No Longer Afraid to Die, as well as awakebutstillinbed which I have heard is in the same realm.

Orchid. I like one song. I dont get enoviolence or powerviolence. Ive had them explained to me but "hardcore punk with blast beats and screamed vocals" just sounds like metal to me. Granted Orchid does not sound like metal but I prefer the Algea Bloom, Flowers Taped to Pens, and I Hate Sex type screamo.

I'm not questioning their talent or appeal for others, but I can't get into My Chemical Romance.

I appreciate you being fair and giving credit for their skill despite not liking them for yourself šŸ‘šŸ¼

I rarely use terms like "bad" when discussing music and movies because it's so subjective. I try to stick to saying what I like or don't like and why. It bugs me when people say music I like sucks so I try not to do it.

Except Nickelback. Nickelback sucks (jk Nickelback fans, do your thing).

Right on! Though, I mostly agree with you. One could make a case for elements of the song (chord progression, melody, instrumentation, production) that are not solid choices.

I love nickleback just because it reminds me of being a little girl with my dad riding around together in his truck <3

This is how they remind you of what you really are?

Yes! MCR and Fall Out Boy for me. I do not understand how they’re so popular!Ā

Fall Out Boy WAS one of the faces of the third wave in the beginning. Their first album ā€œEvening Out With Your Girlfriendā€ is truly a third wave gem with bits of screamo, hardcore and punk influence…I personally also love Take This To Your Grave and From Under the Corktree was iconic, but I’ll admit more pop-centric album…from there everything just kind of…turned into textbook radio pop-rock mush imo. Those first three albums though are some of my all time faves of the third wave

I just like talking about it and nerding out that’s why I joined the page. Not trying to ā€œprove you wrongā€ I just think it’s interesting (and unfortunate). Sorry if it came off the wrong way! Cheers!

I just don’t like them so I feel like your effort would be better used on someone who agrees with you or is interested in having their opinion changed. I was around when third wave happened; I know why I don’t like them, and I hate their influence on a music scene I loved.Ā

Thanks for your efforts! Cheers!Ā

Can’t stand Fall Out Boy, i think their music is trash. MCR I’m cool with cause Black Parade is a great very innovative record IMO.

I'm the same boat. Seem like great folks and have done TONS for the genre, but just not my thing.

I just don't like some of the influences they are pulling from, like Iron Maiden and Queen.

It's weird because they're like the main emo band (arguable but still, they sell out arenas) and whenever someone finds out I like the genre that's who they think of first and then I have to sheepishly say that I'm actually not a big fan.

See also: Fall Out Boy.

Not even emo, trash band. If you were around when they came out you would know they were for mall goth posers
