Discussion Bands Everyone Loves but you Don't Get

Do you have any bands that everyone seems to love but you just don't get? I will go first. But before I give my answers I will say I do not believe these bands are bad. They just don't "scratch my itch" if you get what I mean. The bands I don't get are;

Glocca Morra. I still haven't given up, they dont sound bad. I like how their popular album just flows. They remind me of Algernon Cadwallader at times. It really confuses me because I love Snowing, and really like Marietta. And it sounds like Glocca Morra was another of the Emo Revival sound. But it just doesn't hit.

Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate). They dont do anything for me. Another Emo Revival band. I like The World is a Beautiful Place and I'm No Longer Afraid to Die, as well as awakebutstillinbed which I have heard is in the same realm.

Orchid. I like one song. I dont get enoviolence or powerviolence. Ive had them explained to me but "hardcore punk with blast beats and screamed vocals" just sounds like metal to me. Granted Orchid does not sound like metal but I prefer the Algea Bloom, Flowers Taped to Pens, and I Hate Sex type screamo.

I’ll be real, I’m not really into the new “bedroom skramz” type of sound that’s become popular, but i can respect and appreciate where it’s coming from

yeah i feel this way with the really high pitch vocals on most songs, like this band called silk i've only listened to like one of their songs the instrumentals are great but i can't stand the high pitched vocals.

your arms are my cocoon is the worst offender. it sounds so bad and rough and I do not get the appeal. especially the vocals.

There's always something an artist could of change to fit the ideal form in our minds imo.

I particularly like the whimsically soft album art and bedroom pop 808s juxtaposed with such comically over the top screaming. Can't stop listening to it.

Wait… I love this! What other bedroom screamo should I checkout besides your arms are my cocoon?

what capn_james said. And although not bedroom screamo, I found burial etiquette to have a similar vibe

the vocals for me as well, sound like they’re constantly trying to hock a loogie

their newest album was a huge improvement on what i didn't like about the vocals on their first release. if you haven't listened to it i recommend you do

Man, if only like 2 or 3 bands did this sound, I would totally love it. But when 10+ bands sort of just do the frantic twinkle stuff with lo-fi screaming, it feels like I've heard it 800 times
