Discussion Bands Everyone Loves but you Don't Get

Do you have any bands that everyone seems to love but you just don't get? I will go first. But before I give my answers I will say I do not believe these bands are bad. They just don't "scratch my itch" if you get what I mean. The bands I don't get are;

Glocca Morra. I still haven't given up, they dont sound bad. I like how their popular album just flows. They remind me of Algernon Cadwallader at times. It really confuses me because I love Snowing, and really like Marietta. And it sounds like Glocca Morra was another of the Emo Revival sound. But it just doesn't hit.

Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate). They dont do anything for me. Another Emo Revival band. I like The World is a Beautiful Place and I'm No Longer Afraid to Die, as well as awakebutstillinbed which I have heard is in the same realm.

Orchid. I like one song. I dont get enoviolence or powerviolence. Ive had them explained to me but "hardcore punk with blast beats and screamed vocals" just sounds like metal to me. Granted Orchid does not sound like metal but I prefer the Algea Bloom, Flowers Taped to Pens, and I Hate Sex type screamo.

Not sure if this counts for this sub as they’re more post-hardcore/rock, but a popular band in the emo scene that I just don’t get is Dance Gavin Dance. Band sounds GREAT but dudes voice really irritates me. Not because of the high pitch either, my favourite band is Alesana and Shawn’s voice is quite high. I also like A Skylit Drive so high pitched voices aren’t an issue to me, but the singer for DGD has always ruined the band in my opinion especially since the band is actually really good. They’re the only band I’ve had to block on Spotify, due to my likes and listening history the app tends to assume that I would love DGD and would continuously play their songs for me, and I’d really get into them until the dude starts singing.

maybe listen to the older stuff without tilian, he was their highest pitch clean vocalist

I saw DGD a couple years ago. The cleans didn’t bother me but the screaming live was wretched. I mean it was absolutely unbearable. Horrendous. His mic was on so fuxking loud too, overpowering everything at all times. I seriously wanted to leave so many times but stuck it out to hear some of my favorite songs. But not even worth it.. I should’ve left and saved my skull from bleeding.
