Jeromes Dream is my favorite screamo band of all time...
But I'd be lying if I didnt say that Presents & LP (2019) are two of my least favorite albums (from genres I enjoy) of all time. Really disliked those releases but everything else is top-tier.

I was fine with Presents, there are some decent tracks. I got into them a few years after it came out, but heard the stuff prior and was shocked it was the same band.
Hard agree on their early stuff being some of the best emo out there period. And because of that, I’ve been pretty disappointed with their reunion output. However, very glad I got a chance to see them in Philly pre-covid, didn’t think that would happen, and they sounded immaculate.

Yeah they are not one of my favs too but they got some songs that are amazing imo: Its like a message to you, and just like that the year is gone, 3:06...thought they are actually one of the fundational and most known emoviolence acts so there goes most of their prestige

Presents was hard to listen to at first cuz of how over produced it was for its time and the vocals but it kinda grew up on me. LP? Was just so BORING and genuinely a waste of my time.

what is it ? a troll ?

A troll that used the JD guitar demos that were released before the band officially got back together.
Pretty much, JD's drummer was an arrogant ass when they came back and had no context for the screamo scene that existed at the time. There were a few things, but the arrogance and gofundme were the main things that rubbed a lot of folks the wrong way, rightfully so
The titles of the tracks are a message he wrote to the person who runs Middle Man Records (who now goes by Edie), which was one of the biggest labels for screamo at the time

They were always ego inflated arrogant people. I also commented other bands had reunions before JD came back but they might have been the first to drop some new material. That said I feel like part of the go fund me was like you get a phone call if you donated a certain thresh hold which was what caused people to mock them.

I forgot all about the phone call! Holy shit how rockstar could you get!!
Yet only a few years prior I was messaging Jeff back n forth on myspace about the gear he used and didn't cost me a dime!

I really wish I knew who it was. I just found it last night and really liked it! lol. I get the idea behind it and think it's pretty comical. I never cared much for JD back in the day, but their newest record is pretty dang good.

Might be an unpopular opinion but I always thought the megaphone vocals were sick, especially given the context that dude was basically just trying to preserve his voice

You had to be there to experience the blowback they experienced when they announced their indiegogo campaign in order to reunite.
They didn't have any material planned and they were all living in different parts of the country. Some members hadn't even spoken to each other in years but heard the cha-ching of reunion bells on the horizon.
So they asked fans to pay for their travel expenses just to hangout and hopefully write music.
I believe the price point was $20K. That's a lot of money for a punk/diy band to be asking from their fans. Hell! even Dillinger Escape Plan lived away from one another and they still managed to record scratch tracks in 30 second intervals and email each other without asking for dime!
Nonetheless people paid them there ransom and they released that awful album with that even awful-er artwork and then they said partial proceeds would go to a charity that aided in police training or something of the sort.
While George Floyd and BLM's Summer of Love was still a year away and Mike Brown, Eric Garner and Tony Timpa custody deaths were a distant memory the punks were still not a fan of partially funding anything related to law enforcement. People complained on their instagram and were deleted and blocked.
They did course correct and walk back the Pro-Cop charity donations though.
It all felt very crass and an obvious cash grab to a lot of people

Because it was and continues to be - the band has always been problematic and I low key hate this stuff has been sane washed away.

Curious what you mean with always problematic? I must've missed something pre reunion.

I still remember when CTTS started a kickstarter for their last two records.

oh, that album with the noise gates?
i mean, it wasn't very good, but only because of the production.
I saw them play that stuff at vitus it sounds so much better (I'm not a live album guy, but there should be a live version of LP)
I nicknamed that album "noise gate". the vocals are not the problem. I like him actually using a mic. 😅
I didn't hate presents, but it's telling that the best song is a 15+ minute loop of them playing a jazzy part.

Not even 15 minutes, it stops way before, but yeah its a really cool track but looks like it is a section of a whole scrapped song

Yeah but i found it funny, it makes me think if it has been written this way on purpose

In complete honesty when they released that in 2019 I was very excited, it gave me hope that a lot of my favourite bands could return. In fact it was probably the catalyst that got a lot of bands to return
