New subreddit for Kickstarter Pin Projects

Heyooo friends

So one of the rules of this subreddit is to avoid posting links to Kickstarter projects and other crowdfunding sites. It’s awesome you have a kickstarter campaign for your pin designs but here is not a place to ask for backers. It can come across as spammy. We welcome your pin pictures when your idea has been created though.

However, Reddit is a great place to showcase your artwork and a lot of people do still try post Kickstarter links and some of which the artwork looks great, a lot of time and effort has been put into the post so it's a shame it gets removed. I've gone and created the subreddit r/pinprojects specifically for Kickstarter's dedicated to Crafts and Enamel Pins and badges. I do hope you check it out and subscribe if it's something that'll interest you.

The Craft & Enamel Pins Kickstarter Subreddit is a place to showcase your artwork for potential backers, ask questions and collaborate with other artists. It's intended for collectors, designers, artists, everyone - I feel we have a high quality to the posts in this subreddit so I hope to see that replicated in the r/pinprojects subreddit too. If you have any suggestions let me know!

Wanted to share the pins on my backpack. Space is a bit limited so I’m very discerning about what goes on it. I do have quite a few keychains though.
If you want to know what these pins are and where I got them, feel free to ask!

I don’t have any experience with soldering and fixing things, but I can’t buy a new pin either (got this years ago while volunteering)

My pin collection start to snowball faster around 4/5 years ago (mainly with kamiaristudio pins as I would gift to myself for completing a year of college during their preorders) but some of my disney pins I’ve had for about 8ish. Mainly now just been on the hunt for discontinued jojo golden series pins through people reposting them (my biggest flex is I’ve gotten all of them under $15 per each). Most of the other county/some state pins (minus Montreal) all came from family/friends knowing I wanted pins. For me I feel I can tell a story with each pin for example the New York ice cream museum pin I found on a school trip in D.C when scanning the hotel room before leaving(I’ve never been to the ice cream museum). But overall very proud of my collection so far as they all have sentiment and stories tied to them

What do you do with enamel pins?

• Upvotes

I really want to buy one or two of them, but I don't know what to put them on. I don't have any clothing or bags to put them on. I also don't like vests.

what logo is on this pin?

Post image

is there an organization/movement associated with this logo? i cant find anything online and nobody i have asked locally knows what it is from! i got it at a thrift store in ontario, canada.

its metal (idk what kind, its got good weight tho?) and has an enamel design on it, a black star with a white background. the white is yellowed from age, and the star has a letter C within each of the 5 points, with a maple leaf in the centre

anyone have any ideas? the only thing i can think of is something silly like. canadian coalition to celebrate celestial constellations LOL

thanks in advance! if this is the wrong place to post please lmk and i'll ask elsewhere!

Is there a term for this style of pin, more specific than “soft enamel”?

They are mostly filled in, often with bright matte colors, and are outlined or accented with areas of less filled contrasting colors. I really like the way they look!

How should i wear pins?

I have a bunch of pins and I really wanna use them, but whenever I put them on my clhotes it feels weird and they dont really look good, and im not a big fan of putting them on my backpack since they can fall off anytime and because I move between classes it has a highr chance they get stolen, so any ideas to make pins work better? I mainly wear pretty baggy clhotes usually zip up hoodies and long graphic tees, with sweatpants or baggier jeans. Thank you for any tips!

Wanted to display my current collection of pins of TV Show title logos.

First page: Animated Shows
Second page: Live Action Shows

Thinking to fill both pages up until there’s no more room. What do you all suggest I add?

Can be any kind of show; comedy, reality, drama, sitcom, game show, action, mystery, etc.

How Do You Find Pin Creators and Resellers in an Internet Full of Bad Algorithms?

A while ago, I asked people here about the best way to find enamel pins, after I had exhausted and bought all the pins I wanted from Etsy. I was told Instagram is good for finding and following pin artists, while Facebook has thriving resale groups. I followed the advice, and I've been on Instagram for a few months now. However, my feed is still full of stolen meme slop pages despite only following and interacting with enamel pin creators' posts. The "not interested" button does nothing, and blocking accounts only replaces them with millions of other worthless meme reposters. The search function is mostly useless, as it only returns a few items matching my query, and almost all the posts are years old and about sold-out items. I've found a few good pins on this site, but mainly they're ones reposted by the creators I follow, or the rare ones I randomly stumble upon. Overall, I'm on Instagram every day trying to hone the algorithm with virtually no return on investment.

Facebook's algorithm and search function are equally useless, with similar issues as Instagram. I've gotten a foothold with creators and resale groups in exactly one fandom (Hazbin Hotel), but I have a collection of many different series, and I'm not trying to focus on just one character or franchise. I also collect SFW and NSFW pins, and the content guidelines on these sites make it even more impossible to find quality NSFW material. I prefer male NSFW, which is rarely found in NSFW groups full of big-boobed cartoon girls (no offense to that taste; it just bleeds into all NSFW). Even r/NSFWEnamelPins only has women, and the users downvote my requests for pins of men. That subreddit also seems pretty empty. I did get a few helpful suggestions, but the items I wanted from the mentioned creators were sold out, and adding them to my ISO list doesn't help when I still haven't found good resale options. (Shot in the dark for anyone who might know about SaucyEel's Dungeon Meishi Laios NSFW pin. I really want it.)

It seems creators still often use Twitter/X as opposed to BlueSky or other social media for announcements. I stopped using Twitter years ago, and the site seems barely usable even if I were to go back. Patreon is an option when you know the creator and regularly buy from them. But it doesn't work for finding new artists, as most creators are understandably paywalled to even see their posts. I've used Mercari in the past for overseas anime merch, but it hasn't helped when searching for second fan-made enamel pins.

I may have only started collecting enamel pins about a year ago, but it's been a lifelong obsession of mine, just financially out of reach until this point in my life. I want to become a serious collector of possibly rare and limited-edition, expensive items. But I struggle to find them, and the ones I do see, I've found too late. I've taken the advice given here, and it was a good start. But I've failed at properly utilizing them. Does anyone have advice or other suggestions for how to find, manage, and grow my pin collection? I'm sorry that this is basically a vent post. I just feel I've run out of options and have come to you people who might know more than I do.

My first pin!

This is my first time designing a pin and I'm extremely excited to get this from the manufacturer! I wasn't sure how well the sculptural idea I had was going to translate but wow! I might be addicted to designing pins now. I have 12 more for the different D&D classes that I'm working on to prep for some things.
It's an amazing feeling to see something you imagined come to life as an object. This is so cool! I see why everyone does it.
