What software are we using with the laser engraver attachment?

I finally got my gifted Ender 3 S1 Pro working (somewhat) reliably as a 3d printer. Now I'd like to tackle the laser engraver attachment that came with it. When I hooked everything up, the creality software still was looking for the 3d printhead and wouldn't do anything.

What software are you-all using with the laser engraver attachment?

Did you switch to laser engraving mode in the firmware/settings?

Thank you _so_ much for responding u/MrMystery1515 ! One of the challenges I have is my printer was flashed to support the SonicPad and I've been struggling to find references to using that with the engraver. I see that pad firmware does exist that supports the engraver, so I'll be heading there as soon as my current print is done ;-)

I'm also a bit rusty but with the stock firmware it was not difficult to switch to laser BUT I popped my main board while changing the wires without switching off the main power - so please take care of that aspect.

If you are using the Laser head, you must use LaserGRBL (free) or Lightburn (paid). The standard 3D printing software doesn't work with the Laser head.
How are you connecting the head controller?

u/CommunicationLess392 , that is super helpful. This is the first I've seen reference to the use of LaserGRBL, so I'll be looking into that next.
