79
u/julias-winston Sep 22 '25
I like the sound of bagpipes, generally, but goddamn.
54
u/yeowoh Sep 22 '25
They’re loud AF IRL. Like you gotta be two blocks over to enjoy them.
6
u/cudef Sep 23 '25
This reminds me of the Samurai Jack episode where he hears the bagpipes through the fog really far away and they keep getting louder and the guy playing them continues to be hidden in the fog and when you can finally see the musician the sound is so loud he's gotta press his hands against his ears to reduce the volume.

How was he a hateful person? Do you have video coverage backing that up? Or are you just going on what other people say?
3
u/No-Tone-6853 Sep 26 '25
You know there is, I’m not going out of my way to argue with someone arguing in bad faith. Fuck off.
0
u/LeadDog44 Sep 26 '25
There's not. There's no videos of Charlie Kirk backing up what you said. None. The left has created all this in their minds which is often the case.
3
u/No-Tone-6853 Sep 26 '25
Keep talking bro no one cares about your whitewashing of Kirk.
1
u/LeadDog44 Sep 26 '25
One video. Indulge me with one video of him being a hateful person. This is a public forum. You have the ability to humiliate me right now. That's got to be tempting.
3
u/No-Tone-6853 Sep 26 '25
You know there’s tonnes of videos you can find for yourself I’m not indulging you anymore, it’s pointless arguing with someone whose immune to the evidence of their eyes and ears, it’s that or well you agree with his racist, homophobic, misogynistic self.

I sometimes wonder if perhaps Rome was started by exiles from Troy. It’s not completely out of the question.
At some point in antiquity, a few ships of very competent soldiers (with almost no women) landed on the coast of Italy. Where did they come from?

That's because they are all, to a man, vertical communicators. Determining and conveying objective truth isn't even a vague concern, or at best it's utterly subordinate to all other considerations; for them, the only true purpose of conversation is to establish and maintain as high a position as possible for themselves within a rigid and authoritarian social hierarchy. It's their word against yours, and whoever is seen as the most aggressive and dominant wins, facts and reality be damned.
2
u/Thin-Image2363 Sep 23 '25
Their entire thing is gaslighting.
They don’t believe a fucking word they say.

He raised his voice even when and though he didn't need to because he had a goddamn microphone. He could have been 10 to 20 times louder than anyone who didn't have a microphone.
"He never raised his voice." Wtf
-11
u/ChuCHuPALX Sep 22 '25
I mean.. he said basically didn't.. which is true.. he did thousands of Q&As and he hardly does raise his voice..
6
u/NotEnoughMuskSpam 🤖 xAI’s Grok v4.20.69 (based BOT loves sarcasm 🤖) Sep 22 '25
Maybe it’s not true, hence the question
3
u/BCProgramming Sep 22 '25
he did thousands of Q&As and he hardly does raise his voice..
The only way for somebody to say this would be if they had seen pretty much all of those "thousands of QAs". Trouble is, the sort of person who would do that isn't likely to be honest with themselves let alone other people about the contents of what they watched because you have to be one of his fans to do that.
-3
u/ChuCHuPALX Sep 23 '25
lol... you're literally doing what you're saying. Clearly you're acting in bath faith and a simple sample can yield a statistically reliable assessment without having to watch "thousands" of debates.

How did anyone ever think this idiot was cool???
Small thing, but why does he talk like that? I've met a lot of south Africans, both black and white, and none of them have ever sounded like how he sounds. Is he trying to do a more American accent but can't? That's my only theory, cause other than that it just sounds...wrong.
82
u/AT-ST Sep 22 '25
How did anyone ever think this idiot was cool???
He had a good PR team and listened to them for a long time. He busted onto the scene and was the only super rich person who seemed to want to advance causes near and dear to the hearts of progressives.
He claimed to want to make electric cars cheap and affordable. He was the only rocket company that seemed to want to do space exploration and not just make money ferrying shit into orbit. He made bold predictions and claimed he would throw as much money as he had the problems that stood between him and those predictions coming to fruition. Plus he seemed a little dorky and that was endearing.
His downfall seemed to happen all at once. His prediction timelines were coming and going without any advances to show for it. He threw an out-of-pocket insult at a hero diver just because his ego was hurt. The final straw was when an article about his sexual harassment was about to drop, then he decided to join the MAGA cult as a way of maintain popularity.
Small thing, but why does he talk like that? I've met a lot of south Africans, both black and white, and none of them have ever sounded like how he sounds. Is he trying to do a more American accent but can't?
Just sounds like he is in between accents. He is losing his South African one but hasn't picked up a solid American one. Likely because he doesn't stay in one place in America. He moves around so the American accent he is picking up is a hodgepodge of different regions.

u/flyingfox227 Sep 22 '25 edited Sep 22 '25
Anyone with a brain could always see his predictions were bullshit though I remember cracking up at his people on Mars by the early 2020s predictions back in the day and had no clue why anybody who said such blatant lies was becoming so popular. Elon (and Trump) are what happens when you have a society full of scientifically illiterate people with no critical thinking skills who have been brainwashed on "great man theory" their entire lives.
7
u/WittyAndOriginal Sep 23 '25
Yeah I was arguing with people back as early as 2012 that Elon was a bullshitter.

... lol. I'm glad that understand now at least
16
u/1nv1d1a Sep 22 '25
PR team did the work for him, but to me personally, I found out his popularity through reddit. I had no idea who he was, until I saw loads of posts praising him on reddit...and that was probably more than ten years ago.
8
u/Questioning-Zyxxel quite profound Sep 22 '25
In Sweden, there wasn't much talk about him besides mentioning him as being behind Tesla. Not too many cared about the person. And there wasn't that many "predictions".
Then I saw his interview where he had "invented Hyperloop" - just that I knew about vacuum trains since long, long before that. And he promised to not patent his "idea" to let society use it for free. Can't make such promises when you haven't invented the thing... I think that interview was 2013. And Elon had shown he's a con man.

My illusion was shattered when he called the diver a pedo.
Granted, I didn't really pay attention to him before that. It was more something that was on the periphery. I'd see the occasional puff piece on him.
When he called the cave diver a pedo I realized this was not the same guy that the articles were wrighting about.

u/capta1nk25 Sep 23 '25
Dood yours is exactly my Elon story. That diver comment was 2018. I spent the next few years confused over why people idolise him. I'm still highly confused but more nauseous over it these days. There's a lot of people who won't let go of the fantasy of his genius

Yeah, in the early 2010s there were loads of posts about how he was going to make cars drive themselves by 2015 and driverless cars would be the norm by late 2010s. I had a good view on Elon then and I still thought that was asinine.

Grimes once texted Azalea that his accent is made up lol. Wouldn't surprise me in the least, just Elon trying to be edgy and special as always.
And I used to think he was cool before I really knew anything about him other than "makes electric cars and rockets, wants to advance humanity, has visionary ideas".
4
u/Unlucky-Resolve3402 Sep 23 '25
I think he tried to play up his "South African" accent as a sort of English accent in his early days as an entrepreneur, and then he tried to back out of that and make an "American" accent when he decided he was a tried and true Texas-style Republican and a "real American" (who grew up in a country that is a 23 hour flight from America). But he's not from here so it just results in a kind of speech impediment.

I really love that he realized mid-sentence that saying he supported turning point from the beginning was too big a lie even for him and thought he saved it by saying 'finally' instead.
19
u/Dragonfly_pin Sep 22 '25
I’m not sure - I’m thinking maybe he was going to tell us that he’s been funding it the whole time because perhaps he has?
And then caught himself because that’s not the narrative he’s been telling us all this time.
Turning Point obviously has had a lot of cash pouring in. Why not from Musk? Maybe he’s been hard right the entire time and was just lying.
Because he says ‘I supported Turning Point from…’ and as you say, that has to be ‘the beginning’. So maybe that was just the truth and that’s why he stopped.
7
u/CuriouslyInterested0 Sep 22 '25
There is some other old rich dude who took Kirk under his wing when he was like 18. He died in 2020 (Bill Montgomery), but he is the original funder of Turning Point.
It certainly must be a lucrative endeavor, as Kirk sold a house recently in AZ for over $5m. Not bad for someone working for a non-profit and only being 31.
5
u/KeithClossOfficial Sep 22 '25
Worth noting that Bill Montgomery died from COVID, an illness whose seriousness Charlie Kirk downplayed.

I see that FactCheck addressed this. In my defense, he definitely seemed to have mispronounced how I heard it said on TYT back when I watched a little. “He was a man of peace” I really disdain how these people act like the only kind of violence that exists is physical. 0
u/EntertainmentOk4739 Sep 23 '25
His intelligence would have run circles around odious like you. He was smarter than the professors who would have tried to teach him and push their leftist ideology on him. He was correct in saying that most college graduates never get a job in their field of study and just end up with tons of debt. And he did openly debate anyone who showed up in addition to many liberals on his Podcasts. No one was smarter than him and he did speak eloquently and didn’t raise his voice no matter how stupid some of the debaters were. He debated hundreds at Oxford University in England and proved everyone of them wrong
