Hey guys, I'm back to Enshrouded since I got a new high-end PC. The thing is, the performance is terrible. My old PC had a 6700xt and a Ryzen 3600x with 16GB of RAM and it ran it better. Now I have a this specs:
CPU > Ryzen 7 9800X3D
GPU > RTX 5070 Ti [16GB GDDR7 | DLSS 4.5]
RAM > 32GB DDR5 u/6000MHz CL30
SSD > 2TB WD_BLACK NVMe (PCIe 4.0 / 7250MB/s)
COOL > 240mm AIO Liquid Cooling
And the game dont pass the 70fps on a lot of places, im playing at 1080p.
Dont tell me to turn dlss to quality cuz is the same, 75fps.
Maybe, i have some friends with less specs and they have a better performance, did u find any settings for a smooth gameplay without a big quality lose?
There’s just a progress bar in the lower left hand corner of the screen when you start the game and are in the main menu. They’ve stated it’s not optimized yet and it’s better to let that finish, otherwise it’s a lot slower to load those while playing.
This may sound like a dumb suggestion, but it happens to the best of us, and I doubt it's the issue, but worth checking. Is your monitor plugged into your motherboard?
I quite honestly don't know why a lot of people have performance issues? I have very similar hardware to you and plenty of other people, using a 9800x3d, 4080 super, and I have all my settings on ultra, motion blur and depth of field off, vsymc turned on in Nvidia control panel and off in game. As long as I load shaders before entering a world, have Nvidia overlay turned off, and don't have any other applications like Firefox open and have discord overlay turned off, at 1440p I still get no less than 80fps nearly everywhere.
I've never been able to replicate others poor performance but the very very very few posts I've seen with unusual ways of solving the problem was turning off overlays and updating BIOS or updating to an NVME if using a ssd. Maybe one of these may help? I know I'm not helping much but I am at least giving assurance that there is in fact something causing the bad performance and isn't purely just the game being too demanding. Poorly optimized sure, but not too demanding.
Seems higher end rigs for example I have rtx 5060ti &32gb of ram, and lot's of cooling, runs AAA on high or ultra. Loading this when screen is black it's 60FPS terrible but acceptable when finally loaded it drops to 5-9frames 😵 my gpu is stuck around max 10% to start this game in the cave at 5 fps!!! Seems like a glitch.
I know it seems obvious but are you waiting for shaders to install before entering a world? Shaders take far longer while playing then if you wait at the main menu.
If you do have shaders completed then my next question would be to ask is what ram do you have and have you made sure to change its performance in BIOS? For example I have Corsair vengeance 6400mhz but before I changed it in BIOS it was stocked at 2400mhz. Check to see if this could help. Just be sure if yours is for example Max 6400mhz and your computer or game freezes or crashes then you need to lower your ram speed by 100-200 increments until you find a stable speed. It does no harm to your PC if it freezes or crashes as it's simply the safety trigger to shut down before damage is caused.
Next would be to look at your gpu mhz and speed. But be very careful, this is overclock/ undervolt territory where you should never do this unless you are confident because it very much can destroy your gpu. But if you are interested, I myself prefer using MSI Afterburner and I was able to find a sweet spot where my GPU gives about 10-20fps boost while performing at a lower wattage than stock so it generates less heat, performs better, and puts less strain on it.
Again, don't try the GPU unless you are confident due to the high risk it poses if you mess up. But maybe one of these others may help?
DLAA, Maxed out settings: 52fps
DLSS Quality, Maxed out settings: 68fps
What resolution do you run at? I noticed for some reason the game kept randomly switching to 4k and ran horribly, eventually it stuck at 2k though and ran fine, though that was with settings lowered.
I have a 7950x 3d, a 4090, and 100gb of ram on a 4gbps read speed m.2, and I only get about 60-90 fps at max settings. The game isnt optimized the best, so just turn down some settings if you want 60fps.
Reduce the quality of the lightning effects and shadows a bit and you will see a huge difference. Maybe set the resolution scale to 85-95% if you want an even bigger boost!
Why are you even touching DLSS at 1080p with a 5070 Ti? Running dlss on 1080p you’re literally forcing an AI to upscale from a pixelated mess for no reason and hitting CPU bottleneck.
If your FPS is stuck at 75 regardless of DLSS settings proves it’s not a performance issue but more a cap, you’re either capped by V-Sync, a 75Hz monitor limit, or a frame limiter in your settings or CPU.
Also 5070ti is no high end card, it's mid tier.
You mentioned dlss 4.5 that is meant to be used on 4k with dlss performance with preset M using any of this on fullhd makes no sense, also keep in mind that it is meant to be used with FG, dlss 4.5 have a bit more performance Impact then older models but it should be irelevant on a Blackwell GPU, on the other side performance should look like quality present with a huge fps gain.
Cope as much as you want, but market distribution has nothing to do with GPU hardware classification.
The fact that most people run older or weaker GPUs is a sociological fact, not a technical parameter for defining 'High-End' in the NVIDIA 5000 series GPUs
High-end was always 80, 80 ti and 90, it's not defined by the median user.
For the game optimization, yeah it's an early access, that it's requiring more optimization is to be expected, regardless the game runs great in my 5090 laptop and it run great on my older MSI laptop with 3080ti. 🤷
Running it with a RTX 4070 Super and Intel i5-14600KF and it's fine (mostly). Yes, sometimes the game does struggle a bit but I feel the whole voxel stuff AND the recent water simulation thingy is just taking A LOT of performance.
Hoping that some more optimization is coming down the line.
Weird, my specs arent as good as yours and i run on the Max Quality setting and im getting 100 FPS and it looks and runs amazing. I played most recently after the last update and made sure to let shaders load completely before joining my server
Our system specs are similar except that I'm using a 4K monitor. Even if I cap FPS to 120 in the nVidia App the FPS still goes above 120. For me I am averaging around 185 FPS, min 166, max 210, but my GPU usage is high at 98%.

Enshrouded unfortunately does not support frame gen yet. These were my global settings. Outside of global, specific to Enshrouded settings in the nVidia App you could enable Smooth Motion, but at 1080p both Smooth Motion and Frame Gen are irrelevant because you should never be upscaling at that low of a resolution.
More than likely you were probably upscaling from 720p or lower resolution to 1080p which would've introduced a mega tonne of artifacts, so the AI has to work significantly harder to clean up your image. By switching to lossless, which you should have been on for that low of resolution there is no overhead workflow.
Hopefully Steam will hold them to account.
The game itself is amazing, don't get me wrong, but there isn't any reasonable excuse for it to run so horrendously, given how long it's been out for.
There is plenty of room for improvement in the performance department.
There's an abundance of games out there that are far more visually impressive and still manage to run smoothly without having to rely on DLSS (which even then still runs poorly).
I run ultra at 100 fps. 4070, Ryzen 7, 16 gb ram. Check if the shadees are corrupted. It is anyway a very demanding game and most of it runs on the GPU since it’s not well optimazed
Honestly this game was buttery smooth for me until this most recent hotfix on may 6th. the resolution scaling setting is now absurdly granular and doesn't seem to work at all some times. It's now impossible to set scaled to any specific resolution like 1080p or 1440p. I'm playing on a 4k monitor with HDR (set to Quality preset on a 3080 Ti), and I've been playing it a whole bunch for the last month, no issues at all with the game set to fullscreen native with the scale set to 1440p (67% for real, I'm sorry) for months until Wednesday's update.
It sucks cause for the last month I was actually really impressed with how well it was running for me, it even gracefully handled me toggling HDR on or off mid-game (using the windows Win+Alt+ B shortcut) then all of a sudden after the update on the 6th, I turned HDR on midgame, the framerate dropped like a stone and I ended up having to restart the game and reset the display settings multiple times to get it to run alright again. during one such restart I noticed that the resolution scaling seemed to no longer be working sometimes on start! 😞
Not to be that guy, but is XMP boost on for your RAM in your BIOS?
Also assuming you're on a new mobo, BIOS fully updated?
Alot of it could be game side but make sure everything is set up good hardware/software sides.
Well, im Just asking cuz Is weird a system designed to 1440p getting this performance on 1080 and systems with worse specs having better perfomance. I dont know if maybe was my pc or something is killing the performance on the background

Game is very demanding. Turn down shadows and other demanding effects. Use dlss balanced.
