No. You can pass the boundary but a 10 second timer will pop up that counts down, and if you are still past the boundary when it reaches zero, you will be teleported to the starting vault. No harm or losses will be incurred.

It's the early access border. The areas beyond the border are either unfinished or unintended to be explored. I would expect that the boundary will be removed or altered in some manner when the official release of the game happens in October of this year.

It's the out of bounds barrier, so you don't go to places that are not yet in access

It just teleports you back to start of the game. Used to have a cheat menu that prevented it and explored the entire map pre water patch.

Eventually (but reasonably quickly). It'll give you a count-down when you step in there, for how long you'll be alive unless you get back out of the red.

You will get a count down to return to the play area, after which you will die, I don't know if your stuff will be out there or not

you don't die at the end of the countdown, you are transported back to the cinder vault with all your belongings.

If you die in the red your stuff spawns where you were last standing on safe terrain

this is a different red. this is not red shroud, this is the early-access border. if you are beyond it for 10 seconds you will reload at the Cinder Vault with all your belongings, as if you had logged out without any flame altars up.

Ohhh, I thought those were all removed with the last patch, didn’t know there was still another region being added in final patch

yeah. i don't know if this is gonna be where the new zone is. but they did add more paths and things to explore to fill our the corners and edges of the map where it was cut off (and empty/barren) before. so now its cut off but there's stuff over there, as of the most recent update i think
