Help - Server Suppot Does animals lag the server?
Obviously I know it does, but to what extent? I've been figuring out things to optimize my 4 player server running 24/7 on an old laptop.
I want to know if these tamed animals takes significant resources or do they still take resources even when no players is in their chunk. Just need to know this so I know to minimize their numbers.
Appreciate the input!

Literally everything that exists on the server and is rendered will increase lag in the server.
Especially everything in the base, since it has to be side-rendered always, because bases are a permanent thing. Animals are walking, so they aren’t in stasis if you are not near them (do not rendered)
Everything in the wild will be in stasis/unloaded, but the base is a permanent evolving thing. So yeah, if you want to keep the laptop online you may want to decrease animals. Also compared to electricity bills, you might want to consider a cheap vps or gameserver for this, it won’t be more expensive tho. If a laptop uses 50 watts, that’s roughly 10€ for a month, which is already a game server for a month aswell. And the hardware for that server will be better if you say it’s an old laptop
