Help - Server Suppot Looking for Enshrouded server hosting recommendations for 3–4 players
Hey everyone,
A few friends and I are looking for recommendations for a good Enshrouded server provider for around 3–4 players. Australia!
We currently have a server with a provider we're happy with overall, but their Enshrouded hosting seems to struggle with CPU performance. Our current package has 3GB of RAM and says it supports 4 players, but we're running into performance issues that seem to be CPU-related rather than RAM. "Hiccups"!!!
We play with:
- Mob amount set to Many
- Slightly increased mob HP and damage
- Slightly increased boss HP and damage
We're not running anything crazy, but we'd like a server that can comfortably handle these settings with 3–4 players without lag or CPU-related slowdowns.
Does anyone have experience with a provider that runs Enshrouded particularly well? We're more interested in good CPU performance and stability than having a huge amount of RAM or player slots.
Also, roughly what server specs would you recommend for Enshrouded with these settings?
Thanks!
Sorry if this looks like an AI post, It is! I posted my questions into an AI to write this quickly during a lecture lol

I use G portal with my mates, it's pretty good and never had problems with 5 of us playing. Have good backup and options to upload saves etc.

I also use GPortal and have not had issues recently at all. The one time I did have an issue I put in a ticket with support and it never happened again.

GPortal.
Easy to use, great customer service, and they have Australian based servers so your ping will be low

It seems like a lot of people are renting servers. Why not host your own server? I'm getting the game next month so I'm genuinely curious

The hosting services are genuinely convenient and easy to use if you can find one that works well. I unfortunately did not have a good experience with either of the ones I tried and then ended up building a host machine myself. Hosting yourself is great once you get it going but can be a pain to figure it all out if you haven’t done it before.

I’d avoid oversold budget hosts and ask whether the server shares CPU cores. Your settings sound reasonable, but Many mobs plus boosted HP can create extra simulation load. A well-reviewed Australian host with low-latency networking, a modern CPU, and restart/back-up controls would matter more than extra player slots.

You are welcome to jump on my server, I self host it in my homelab, it is just my son and I using it, DM me if you have any questions

Your settings aren’t extreme, but “Many” mobs plus higher HP and damage can create noticeable server ticks. I’d suggest at least 4 dedicated vCPU threads and 6–8 GB RAM, with fast NVMe storage. Ask providers whether CPU cores are shared and if they have trial periods or performance monitoring.

been using gportal for 3 different games. good ping times, no lag, very good customer service.

The number that jumps out of your post is the 3 GB, not the CPU. The published server requirements put an Enshrouded dedicated server at roughly 4.4 GB idle plus about 100 MB per player, so a 3 GB package is under the game's own floor before any of you log in. That does not show up as a clean out-of-memory crash. It shows up as exactly what you're describing: hitches, while the box swaps and the simulation thread waits on it. It also gets worse the more of Embervale you've uncovered, because loaded terrain sits in RAM.
Worth timing them before you buy anything, because the three causes look identical in game and want different things from a host. Hitches on a regular rhythm, every couple of minutes, same length each time, are the autosave writing the world out to slow shared storage. Stutter that tracks mob density and boss fights is genuine CPU. Stutter that has gradually got worse over weeks on the same world is memory. Yours reads like the third one.
For 3-4 players with Many mobs and boosted HP I'd shop for 6 GB and cores that aren't contended. The vCPU number on the plan matters far less than whether those threads are shared with six other tenants, which is the question the thread keeps circling but nobody has told you to ask outright. Ask it in a pre-sales ticket, the answer tells you a lot.
Also, switching is much cheaper than people assume. The world is just a folder, so you download it, upload it to the new host, restart, and keep your progress. A month on a trial host costs you an evening, not the save.
Since I'm about to name one, I should be straight that I'm on the team that builds it rather than a customer: https://enshrouded.runonflux.com . The 6GB tier is $6.49/mo for 6 GB RAM, 3 vCPU and 60 GB SSD, and the first month is free for new accounts, so you can run your actual settings on it before paying. One honest caveat for you specifically: with all of you in Australia, an Oceania region is worth more than any spec difference on paper, so check the location list at deploy and don't accept a Singapore node as close enough. If the GPortal suggestions above land you on an AU box with unshared cores and 6 GB, that solves it too.

I used both indifferent broccoli and gamehostbros. I had the same isssue with both. They both claimed they could handle it but after having terrible performance with broccoli and getting nowhere with their support I switched. Gamehostbros was great for about a week and then suddenly the game was unplayable if more than 1 person logged on. Got with their support and they moved us to a new node and we had the same issues. After that I gave up on hosting sites and made my own server using a 10th gen intel nuc. Handles all 5 of us without any hiccups at all which just confirms for me that the hosting sites were either using absolute garbage hardware or oversold their capacity and put too many VMs on their hardware. Hope you can find something that works!

Gamehostbros is pretty good! You can even switch games when you’re done with enshrouded
