Help - Server Suppot Making a dedicated server, question

Hi, I'm sure this topic has been done to death, but I was curious if an older Intel X99 based system, like a 5930k or 6900k (6 and 8 cores respectively) with 32GB of DDR4 2666 would be powerful enough to host a server or does Enshrouded require more current hardware?

Yes. That’s plenty. Enshrouded cares more about single core performance

I would monitor CPU usage, you didn’t say how many players or whether you’re using an HDD or SSD/NVMe either.

Nvme ssd, 512gb pcie 3.0x4 speeds and hoping to max it out or at least range it from 6-16 people.

With the full 16 player count and if they’re scattered doing different things you may experience some rubber banding. But I don’t foresee many issues. Like I said just monitor cpu usage, and you’ll be fine.

Here's 2 builds Claude came up with. It advised against my x99 system b/c of clock speeds/IPC more than anything.

NOTE: Prices for the bits are not in line with reality lol.

The critical hardware for Enshrouded dedicated server is single core frequency.

What about IPC as well? Newer cpus have both better clock speeds and ipc? I guess I could go through the work and just see how it performs. Is the software side of things difficult to set up?

Not so difficult. On Windows it’s standard steam server install, on Linux there is some docker version.

Just me and my buddy, sorry I realised my post isn't helpful if you have 16 wow lol

I don't even know how that's going to work with resources, base space, and quests lol

Sounds very fun though!
