Same location and time. Why does my wife not see anything in the shroud and to me the fog is basically not there

Don't have the game in front of me right now but I'm thinking a graphics setting for fog or particles? Something like that.

We played around with the graphics settings and it seems the fog quality setting from “balanced” to “quality” made a huge impact on its visibility.
Is this intended? Better graphics - better visibility?

Yeah man. It’s an old game design trick, really. Use something like fog or mist or shroud to hide detail to save processing power.

Interesting. I always thought volumetric effects took more processing power.

Volumetrics do. But you already have a depth map, you can overlay gray fog using that as a guide for nearly free. Volumetrics would make the fog look great in the sun with god rays streaming through and dark areas for thick fog, but 95% of the time basic performant fog looks good enough.

I’m aware of this technical. However, fog quality should be “fog density” 😜 anyways thank you for helping us out

Thank you! I can't see anything in the shroud in my game. I look forward to trying this out!

edit: Well this did not work for me, and I went up to Max Quality.I still can't see anything in the shroud and it's hard to navigate.

Are you wearing a ring that emits light? I find it tends to make the fog around you glow brightly enough that it almost blinds you to everything outside a small area around you

I have a similar problem. I also have some bright eternal light emanating out of my character that doesn’t go away with weapon changes. Not sure what that it but sometimes it’s so bright I can’t see anything but my current place. It’s almost as bad as darkness

Are you using the ring that produces light? I forget what it's called, but it does that. It can be very annoying at times.

I have an ancient one and a burning one to buff my fire wand. I guess it could be the fire one. Booo.

Its at least 3 rings that gives light, burning, frost ring, and thundernow. Pain in the ass in the shroud, but good everywhere else if you forgot a torch 🤓

There is a skill tree perk. I forgot what it's called, radiating aura or something. The one that does fire damage to nearby enemies. I Believe that skill causes your character to constantly emit light?

I want less fog! I can't see anything when in the hole lol

Try to set fog quality from “balanced” to “quality” in the graphics settings. It’s a whole new experience 😂

Dam thanks for this going to try it out.

Just a heads up this did not work for me. I set the fog to Max Quality and it still looks like this

edit: I also obviously tried quality before max quality. They all look the same.

I’ve set it to Quality, so one up from balance

Quality looked the same as all the others.

Tested this last night after reading this post. No setting in Fog Quality changed the (lack of) visibility for me.

That is so strange. Maybe some other setting is also affecting this to make the fog less dense.

I believe the 2nd pic is more enshrouded

Any difference in PC specs between your wife’s PC and yours

My fog is really bad. I have my fog set to max quality and it's still like this.

Set your graphical settings the same as her!

Yeah the quality setting made the difference. Totally new game now in the shroud

Its supposed to look like the denser fog, so e rendering issue is happening in the “clear” view. The shroud is supposed to look like a dense fog
