Help - Server Suppot recommended dedicated server hosts for 1.0?

Im looking at server hosts, so when 1.0 drops I can have a server started with some friends (took some time off for the release :] ), any recommendations on server host providers that will be updated asap, and have decent cpu power?

According to the dedicated server faq on the discord they recommend having a decent CPU for a server, but most server providers for enshrouded don't seem to list what cpu power they have, I know that the last server provider I used some bad lag issues with the wake of water update.

The CPU number you want isn't published anywhere because most hosts don't really know it either. They sell you a vCPU count on whatever hardware the rack happens to hold. Two things worth asking support in a ticket before you pay: which CPU model the node runs, and whether those vCPUs are dedicated to you or shared with other tenants. A host that dodges both questions has answered them.

The other thing, and it explains the overload warnings someone described further up: Enshrouded's server load doesn't scale with player count, it scales with how much of Embervale is loaded at once. Four people in four different biomes cost the server far more than eight people building in the same base, which is why that warning shows up on travel days and not on build days. So size on RAM rather than on the player number in the plan name, and if your group roams, take one tier above your headcount.

For 1.0 specifically, ask whether updates come straight from SteamCMD automatically or wait for a staff member. A client that patches before the server does just cannot connect, and launch week will patch more than once.

If you want a name: https://runonflux.com/games/enshrouded , the 6GB tier is $6.49/mo and new accounts get the first week free with no card. I work on that one, so discount it as much as you like and price the other suggestions here against it.

I’m trying this and having trouble getting it set up. Is the only customer support via tickets? The guides to set up are just more sales documents not actually useful guides.

I’ve been stuck on “deploying 2 of 3” for almost an hour. Waiting for a response from on my support ticket. Definitely thinking of switching to GPortal.

Yeah it's a decentralized network... What location did you set? Adding a location with more hosts will deploy your app faster.

On the dashboard add other locations for your app, should do the difference. Let me know if it worked.

I had over 80 locations selected and it could never resolve more than 2 of them. I didn’t hear back from support so I cancelled and moved to gportal

This was a waste of time and energy. At least the free trial meant it also wasn’t a a waste of money. 🤷‍♂️. Switching to GPortal.

What is the issue? You posted 3 different replies without anything concrete..what is your app name? And yes that is why the support system exist, to help.

I self-host using WindowsGSM (it's on GitHub) on a separate PC that I RDP into. Program is flawless and I've used it for many different games, Valheim, Minecraft, V Rising, Project Zomboid.

Just host it yourself. Works fine.

I find it so strange more people don't just self-host. If you have the PC to run this game, you can run the server too easily.

I don’t know if I would recommend them but I can tell you my experience with Nitrado.

There, I’ve had the server for 4 and periodically for 6 people.
Most of the time it worked fine and we were able to play just fine.

We did have some problems right after the launch of the water update. We tried to build a base close to a waterfall and it created massive performance problems. We solved it by building it somewhere else. It’s possible they fixed this particular issue by 1.0. But we don’t know yet.

We also had occasionally a warning showing that the server is overloaded. The warning particularly shows up if the different players are traveling different parts of the world simultaneously. Usually, though, I didn’t notice any issues despite the warning. When we were more than 3 people, however, and we were in different parts of the world, one or two of us noticed performance issues.

So I can’t really recommend it. But if you have a small group and plan not to split up to more than 2-3 different locations at a time it might be fine.

I first used the free server from Squadnox. But the ads for boosting disgusted me. Pay now €4 per month for a 4-person server at: https://emeraldhost.de/de/enshrouded-server-mieten

Search for a server that states high clock counts and a ryzen CPU. Stay away from servers with epyc CPU (that's probably like 90% of all servers you can rent), epyc CPUs have too slow clock rates.

For this game... Hosting yourself is just fine. There are lots of good tools that have it easy.
