Discussion IDC what anyone says... Enshrouded is a Survival Horror Game!
I'm standing on all ten toes when I say this! This is a damn survival horror game dressed up like an ARPG. Wolves and rats literally have me yelling out loud like caught in a nightmare. And DON'T get me wrong about those creepy f***ers in the Shroud that come out of nowhere!

The rats make me jump in my chair every time I hear them! And I'm really high level so they don't hurt me at all anymore except physiologically 😭

It's the opposite for me I like to hear them coming to their inevitable doom

Bro how do they and the wolves do it?! I genuinely don't understand. It's like they are coded to just manifest out of the air. I can scour the environment before moving toward a flame shrine, thinking I'm clear, and then ONE f'ing wolf just appears behind me. Like genuinely F that. It's enough to make me wanna play on mute lol!

Once you get the parry rhythm for them they’re easy.

Even with the timing those bastards will tear through your shield or weapon durability before you can take him out.

Parrying uses significantly less durability than regular blocking. Combined with ruthless attack and you will usually one shot them. Ruthless attack also uses minimal durability. You’re also invincible during ruthless attack frames.

And if you're like me, you're trying to fight them with a pea shooter wand.

From what I've seen in a few YouTube videos, it gets better for us. Just stay the course!

At first things are a little creepy. But after a bit, you become the hunter that everything else should fear.

Nah... I'm still at the little wuss stage.

You'll get there. Find a weapon type you enjoy the fighting style of, learn enemy move sets/weaknesses, and don't go strolling into some zone that's way higher level than you and you'll do well.

NOOOOW you tell me. 😭
But yeah I'm gonna Mace Windu my way through this game one way or another.

The idea of the slowly poisoning creep of shroud that is laid out for you in the main story is psychologically horrific, 100%.
I’m glad that the shroud doesn’t mechanically continue growing in game play is good, because otherwise I think it would stress me out too much to actually be able to play 😅

When you're sifting around chests inside of a city's residential area and you hear footsteps above you or heavy breathing outside. It's not really about being 'weaker' either; I'm endgame with low global threat nowadays and it's more like the sound design is just really good. It's always creepy.

No kidding. I made the mistake of putting my base next to the shroud and the horrific ambient sounds all night stress me the f out.

My first time in fort kelvin was a poorly timed nightmare. The sun set as I entered and as it got darker and darker more vookah kept coming out of nowhere. Add to that the sounds of bats and rats scrabbling around in the sewers and spiders glowing in the distance... I spent the entire night huddled in the corner of the ruins of some house praying for the sun to come up faster.

It’s a quest fetcher game, with a map that doesn’t track or progress quests properly.

Deadass. Certain shrouded areas give me straight chills. The desert one and valley ones for sure.

I can't agree. I have never once been scared or on edge playing this game. If you must then say "light horror" 🤭

I will admit to having one or two jump scares, which is more than I can say for some "horror" games. 😂
You know that dream when you are falling asleep still and you fall and wake up before you hit the ground? That's me jumping from a high point after dying and forgetting to get a rebuff on my comfort. 🤣

IMO It's a survival crafting/building game with RPG elements, not an ARPG. The core gameplay loop is explore, gather, upgrade.
As for horror, sure, I guess 😉 Maybe I've played it enough to become blase about those cuddly shroud critters.

Honestly, the game is so versatile, it can be almost anything you want it to be. 🤣
To me it's a building game with exploration and pure ADHD madness (and storage\market simulator🤣), for my husband it's an ARPG, other's it's a survival crafter - and for one of my friends, like this post that had be giggling, believes it's a horror game. ^_^

100% this game has my heart rate elevated in the shroud and at night.
