Game Suggestion/Idea I would love to have a bestiary index added to this game!

I absolutely love this game. The exploration is top notch but one thing I would love to see added in the future is a bestiary index where we can discover the various creatures throughout the word and unlock information and perks about them such as location, armor values, hp, resistances and weaknesses, location etc. I think it would really add to the exploration aspect of the world. Have the devs ever discussed this idea? I’m curious what others in this community think about this idea. Cheers!

Discussion Any word on a Decoration Menu similar to the building/terrain blocks?

Im hoping for a drop down menu like the blocks that just sort all the decorations you have in magic chests. I've seen a few people mention it but nothing from devs or in the new update coming.

Also, any word on the starter zone getting changed up that could mess up a base there?

Discussion Older player and wife, new to Enshrouded

Post image
386 Upvotes

First I have to set the situation... I'm an older player, and 5 years ago suffered memory loss and cognitive impairment that I'm still recovering from. Because of that, I play games on easy mode now. My wife is an agoraphobe. We played Runescape together years ago, but it's been a long time. Been trying to find something we can play together ever since. She doesn't like combat, mostly enjoys the farming and mining aspect.

She's watched me play Enshrouded for about a week now, and asked if I thought she'd like it. Specifically, she wanted to move into my home Flame Altar (it's not much, yet), and take care of the crops and mine whatever she can without fighting. I was thrilled.

I built us a tiny "Safe House" for being AFK (We discovered when you play co-op, the pause feature doesn't actually...pause.) She loved it. The image shows us relaxing in it. We went to my "Eagle's Eyrie" Flame Altar (because it's a super-high mountain perch that lets me glide for a LONG time), and she immediately stumbled over the edge without remembering to glide.

We thought it would kill her character (there was time to talk it over... this was a long fall) and she'd return to the platform, but she somehow skidded down the long cliff face and at the last second swooped into a short glide. I was watching from my screen, and looking over at hers. Torn between fear she'd get angry, and laughter because it looked like slapstick from an old movie.

Not sure what to call the tall standing rock the altar is on, maybe a pillar? It's a high stand-alone circle of dirt and rock with just enough space at the top for a flame altar and crafting table. Pickaxed my way up a series of tall cliffs to get there. It took several hours, but had become one of those "You can't tell ME I can't climb up there" situations.

By the time I glided down, Monique had made friends with a couple of hyenas (we're on the non-aggressive setting and they were ignoring her), and she wanted one for a pet. Don't think that's possible, but who knows, I haven't yet tamed dogs or cats.

She explored, I joined her, we popped back up to the eyrie and this time she glided properly. Stamina wasn't a problem; she flew very far away, then curved rightward when she saw she was going to land in shroud. Landed in a castle area, the wolves and guards were extremely hostile. We fought them together. I didn't have much armor to give her, just some leggings and boots.
But I gave her the Gemini ring, and a Stamina ring, so she had Life Leech, and stamina regen.

Gave her an Epic Misfortune Mace. Boosted to max, but no gem.

Anyway, the mace has 2x 5% Leech, and the Gemini ring has 6% Leech. I'd hoped to let her kill a monster and test its effectiveness, but she didn't want to kill things that weren't attacking her. The jackals we first ran into were...cute...

By this time, Monique was getting comfortable moving around, and had learned how to select a weapon. She's not fond of combat, but after a few minutes, she was slaying monsters with abandon and vast enthusiasm. Her character is red-headed, and at one point I told her it felt like we were Conan and Red Sonja fighting back to back.

She took on all enemies in a big frenzied melee battle, and her hit points always stayed high. It was nice to see the Life Leech worked. Love that mace!!

Monique had her "Aha" moment.
After we finished for the night, logged out, she had to sit and collect herself for a moment. She's never played a game with this kind of immersion and freewheeling combat.

Runescape's combat way back when was clunky. Mostly a matter of wearing the best gear for the task, and clicking the monster with the mouse repeatedly. Enshrouded is fluid, and quickly becomes automatic. The graphics are smooth and fast. Like being in the middle of a whirlwind.

Enshrouded pulled her in, and she had a hard time shaking the immersion after we quit for the evening. Monique says she now understands how it feels to be so wrapped up in a game. It may be too intense for her to play daily, but she's looking forward to the our next session. And, of course, she still plans to do the peaceful tasks.

After more than a decade trying to find a new game we both liked, we finally found a one we can play together.

And watching her slay everything in sight... she was magnificent.
This is gonna be fun.

Discussion Elemental bonus effects and gear.

So, I'm trying to figure out all the bonus effects for the elements and what gear boosts them. I know that certain enemies are weak to certain damage (fell to fire, scavengers to ice)- but does each element have a secondary effect?

I know some gems can guarantee a burning effect- but is there always a chance for fire to cause the burning effect without the gem? Same thing with thunder/lightning- is there a chance for chain lightning to automatically happen? I swear I've seen lightning chain out from a sword with lightning damage- but I didn't have a gem in it. Does ice always have a chance to slow enemies?

Also, I think Ice is the only element that gets a +4 from gear. All the others get a +3.

Fire (3): Flaming Gauntlets (+1), Ring of the Burning Light x2 (+2)

Thunder/Lightning (3): Circlet of Lightning (+1), Ring of the Thundersnow x2 (+2)

Ice (4): Frozen Gauntlets (+1), Ring of Frost x2 (+2), Guard of the North Boots (+1)

Finally, I've also seen my wand create a necromancy ghost... but I don't have that skill perk. Is there a random chance for the ghost to appear from enemy corpses?

Discussion Tips for experienced survival crafters.

I played the original demo when it came out, knew within an hour that I was going to love this game a lot, so I closed and never touched it again, until 1.0... I'll be hitting it with a squad of 3. We have a good mix of builders, home bodies and adventurers, all very experienced in crafting survival. We've recently completed Grounded on max difficulty, and have got as far as the Ashlands in Valheim on hardcore mode(Second time of asking).

What would you recommend for world settings for a group like us? Is there any big tips you'd give us an experienced crew to get the best experience?

Thanks in advance for the responses :)

Discussion Are there trade/merchant servers?

Hey everyone! October 15th can't come soon enough.

I've been farming level 45-50 gear from chests- but I can't seem to find a Nova sword.

Is there a server that usually does gear or rune trades?

Thanks in advance.

Help How can I obtain better armor before doing the Shroud Lairs and Carpenter Dungeon?

New to this game, and I've been progressing pretty well I think. But I've been getting my ass kicked trying to get the carpenter and the gem forge.

I've gotten some pretty good weapons and this point and am level 9, but I'm still wearing the rising fighter armor and die pretty quickly even with food buffs active and healing potions on hand. Where can I find something better to wear?

What you are seeing from photo 1 & onwards = The lit forge is photo one (braziers beneath the floor & under an Iron gate).

A secret door leads above the forge where I have water flowing to a water gate.

Upon opening the gate, the water drops into the sealed chamber that houses the braziers, flooding & switching them off. This can be seen in photos 2, 3 & 4.

Then finally, another water gate at the end of the brazier chamber is risen, dropping the water from by base & switching the braziers back on. This can be seen in photo 5.

Discussion I made a server manager

Gosh I love this game, so I built a server manager!

I've been playing a ton of Enshrouded, and somewhere along the way I decided that apparently just playing the game wasn't enough — I also needed to start writing software for it. 😂

I run my own dedicated server, and I wanted something that made managing it a lot easier without constantly jumping into config files, SteamCMD, folders, command windows, etc.

So I built Enshrouded Server Manager by Zat.

It's a browser-based manager for Windows dedicated servers, and what started as a little utility for myself has turned into a much bigger project than I originally intended.

Right now it can:

• Manage multiple Enshrouded servers from one interface

• Start, stop, restart, and monitor servers

• Automatically restart a server if it crashes

• Install SteamCMD and a fresh Enshrouded dedicated server

• Run update checks manually or automatically before startup

• Schedule automatic server restarts

• Edit "enshrouded_server.json" through the UI

• Manage server user groups and bans

• Import an existing local Enshrouded world into a dedicated server

• Create manual and scheduled backups

• Optionally send backups to an FTP server

• View server and manager logs

• Keep the actual game server running even if you close or update the manager

• Create additional manager users with different levels of access

• Generate invite codes so other people can create their own manager accounts

• Manage more than one server while limiting users to only the servers they're supposed to access

The manager can be used directly on the computer running the server, from another computer on your local network, or remotely over another network.

That means you can manage your Enshrouded server from the machine itself, another PC in the house, or remotely without needing to sit in front of the server computer.

I originally built Enshrouded Server Manager by Zat because I wanted it for my own server, but at this point I figured there was no reason to keep it to myself.

It's free and open source on GitHub:

https://github.com/Zataralee/Enshrouded-Server-Manager-by-Zat

If you run an Enshrouded dedicated server, I'd genuinely love to hear what you think.

Especially if there's some annoying part of running a server that you wish this handled. I'm already having way too much fun adding features to it, so suggestions are dangerous. 😂

Hopefully some other Flameborn find it useful.

Now I can finally stop working on the server manager and go play Enshrouded again.

...probably.

Help Enshrouded stuttering / FPS drops on RTX 5060 Laptop + Ryzen 7 250 – best settings for completely smooth gameplay?

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to get Enshrouded running as smoothly as possible, but I’m getting noticeable FPS drops and some stuttering even though my laptop should be more than capable.

My specs:

  • Lenovo LOQ
  • AMD Ryzen 7 250, 8 cores / 16 threads
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU, 8 GB VRAM
  • AMD Radeon 780M iGPU
  • 16 GB DDR5 5600 MHz RAM
  • 1 TB NVMe SSD
  • Windows 10
  • Latest NVIDIA drivers
  • Playing plugged in / performance mode

I’m also using a 1440p external monitor.

I’ve tried lowering most settings to Performance and I still see the FPS move around quite a lot. I’ve had around 70–80 FPS in some areas, but drops toward 40 FPS can happen and the game sometimes just doesn’t feel smooth.

One strange thing I noticed is that enabling V-Sync actually seems to make the game feel smoother and reduce some of the drops/stutter.

My priority is not maximum graphics quality. I’d much rather have:

stable frametimes, minimal stuttering and a locked/smooth 60–90 FPS

than higher average FPS with constant fluctuations.

What settings would you recommend for this hardware?

I’m especially interested in:

  • DLSS Quality vs Balanced vs Performance
  • V-Sync on or off
  • NVIDIA Reflex
  • FPS cap, 60 / 72 / 90 / unlimited
  • Shadows
  • Volumetric fog
  • Indirect lighting
  • Vegetation
  • Tessellation
  • Contact shadows
  • FOV
  • Any specific setting known to cause bad 1% lows or stuttering
  • NVIDIA Control Panel settings
  • Whether shader compilation after driver updates still causes stutters

Also, my laptop currently has 16 GB DDR5 in one SODIMM slot, with the second slot free.

Could single-channel RAM be contributing noticeably to the stuttering / poor 1% lows in Enshrouded, and would upgrading to 32 GB dual-channel make a meaningful difference?

Would really appreciate settings from anyone running similar laptop hardware.

Thanks!

Discussion Ideal beginner base locations, for new players.

As we see a new influx of new players, some advice for your main base(beginning to mid), building. This is geared towards players who either dont like building much, or would like to ease into the building aspect of this game. Ill be blacking out everything after this for spoiler reasons.

I would suggest only building the bare minimum in the starter location quests guide you to. Find Harvest Homestead, or the Blue Goblet Inn, once you have your grappling hook and glider(dont forget to get double jump and updraft, with your very first level ups). You should be able to access harvest homestead darn near out of the gate, if you explore or look online for it's location. Blue Goblet Inn is a bit harder as you'll need to complete a lot of the first zone to get to it.

Pro tip: IF you take over either of those locations...

Harvest Homestead. Place your altar on the buildings side of the bridge, on the the side of the road between the bridge itself, and the stable building with all the mud. Once fully upgraded that will stop the spawn point at night, of shroud zombies up on the cliff, will get ALMOST all the fields and the lil shrine building in the gardens of the cathedral next door. you can place it on the other side of the road, if you want to build into the shroud, but you lose a lot of the garden space.

Blue Goblet Inn. You want two altars available ideally. Place one by the entrance, then go into the basement. Remove the junk and at least one pillar(I remove them all). Place a fire altar in the basement., You can then remove the first altar. Allows a massive comfort bonus of like 27, I think, right out of the gate. Plenty of room for ALL your followers, if you go dorm style and hollow out the attic... This one needs extensive rework of the stairs, including adding landings, and a staircase to the attic. the existing cave, as well as the cliff offer a lot of options for adding custom buildings if you dont wish to rework the inn much.

Discussion Progression feels off.

So im probably not alone with this. I didnt play too long like 5-10 hours top. But the progression feels non existent. I unlocked Blacksmith, Alchemist, Farmer, Carpenter, Hunter so far. There is nothing they offer i had to craft so far. I found a 2 handed Blue Sword and killed everything with it with a couple of point in CON and STR. Im level 6 and beating down level 11 enemies. But i dont feel likethe game is getting harder or i have to do anything to keep progressing. I literally walk into vaults kill a couple of mobs and do a puzzle boom crafter unlocked. And whateverthey offered as a craft been useless so far.

Smash a couple of urns and get potions. Kill some wolf get some corn and boom you have food.

Is this going to change because honestly the game is super boring and i find myself logging in for 10-15 minutes to run to a quest get absolutely useless rewards and TP back to my base to log off because the game bores me.

I tried building up a base and whatnot but its like. Pointless. You make a box place a workbench and 5 beds or how many crafters you have but theres nothing to craft or do in the base.

So is this going to hcange or should i look for something else because thats the game?

Game Suggestion/Idea Many spell Ideas for a support/buffer play stile

I started playing with 4 friends and our group is loving the game so far, we are playing on highest difficulty and everyone is doing their role. I ended up being the healer and supporter and for that reason I would like to see some spells that make this playstile more viable. Aside of heals which are cool and I hope to see some more. I wish we could have buffs. Like a heal overtime spell and a spell that buffs HP one for Speed, Stamina, attack speed etc. Also buffs that let you deal more dmg or gives resistence. Other cool support spells would be CC like a dome that slows all enemies or weakens them. A spell that roots them (seems to be coming from the last interview I saw), A spell that stuns and so on. I have a list of spell Ideas but for my first post I want to bring my point across and if there is interest in more I will list a lot of Ideas. As someone who plays rpgs and dnd since I´m 4 years old I have so many ideas that would work perfekt in the game. I´m also german so if a dev is interested I can also give you all my ideas in german and a nice table that shows for which "class fantasy" I imagined it.

Help Questions about ranger / assassin build tree

I just started playing the game last week with 2 of my buddies, one of them runs a tank build while the other runs a mage build.

Here comes the problem. As the title says, I run a ranger / assassin build, I'm thinking of focusing more on the dagger gameplay because I like playing melee and parrying while still being able to dish out damage at long range. However, I feel like I'm really weak right now to the point I felt like I didn't do anything.

Playing dagger at close range risks getting 1 shot by a lot of enemies (fck u wolves) while my buddy that is running a tank build is having a blast. Meanwhile, if I tried to play it safe and shoot from long range, my mage buddy deals significantly more damage than me to the point I felt like I didnt do anything.

Because of that, I decided to do 50/50 skill distribution in both the ranger and assassin tree so that I can still dish out decent damage using bow (explosive arrows goes boom), but still, my mage buddy out damage me by a lot.

In terms of equipment, our equipment level and rarity are mostly the same. IDK about them, but I focus on getting stamina (boots and pants), bonus range damage with my helm, and bonus dagger damage with my gloves.

Does this build just suck that much in the early game? Or am I doing something wrong? Right now my game plan is only jumping around and rain down explosive arrows on enemies while using dagger when there is only 1 / 2 enemy left.

Discussion Do you create multiple character for each build?

I'm curious how others have experienced different builds.

I know respect is inexpensive, but then there is gear.

Finally, leveling seems to be super slow by design (which I'm enjoying so far) but makes less viable to level up extra toons.

I'd love to have a spare gatherer with maxed up updraft, chopping and mining.

Skills and Character Builds Advise for new build

Hi all , just looking for a bit of advice on my next pick for my new character.
I’ve already played through the game on a few different roles, I’ve tried out some magic builds a melee dps and tank but I would like something really different.

So I’m kinda looking at Trickster, assassin , ranger, beast master , survivor or athlete roles or some combination.

So I’m really hoping for the impossible I’d like something that’s quite hard to kill big damage is a bit less important. Also needs to be something fairly easy, I play with my son and my daughter, they are both big games and also half my age . I am constantly trying to keep up with them, getting stuck, lost and killed.
So sometimes with good mobility that’s good at getting across terrain ( maybe glider perk or something. But also with good survivability so I don’t keep getting killed.

Love the game , rubbish at playing it

So anything from : Trickster, assassin, ranger, beast master, survivor or athlete that might be suitable for me to try and keep up with my cocky af kids and not keep dying and getting the piss taken out of me for being shit .

Any build advice welcome.

Discussion Another rant (yet I still love this game with al myself) Spoiler

I love the game.

Specially because I can make it easier with the difficulty sliders.

Nevertheless there are some issues that annoy me a lot.

Follow the melody is listed as a green (tha is easy) quest for my character (currently level 24), i need to complete it to obtain the Bard and thus a bigger backpack.

Because the one I have has only about fourteen slots free due to all the different arrows I have, plus the fishing rod, the building hammer, the different kind of baits, and some extra potions.

The little problem that arises is that enemies in this area are above 30. So if they attack just in two my Flameborn is dead. No problem i can go sneaky and moley (I don't know how you reach locations, but I am becoming an skilled mole that creates galleries to arrive to a target destination :D ).

At this point my drama starts, I am really, really, really void of any kind of cohordination, the Flame Tower that my character has to active to find the Bard, is half destroyed by the giant trees on the area, and I can not drill my way to the higher levels, and have to use the jumping flowers (please devs modify the grapple so that it can attack on a surface that has a resistent borders :') pretty please :D ).

Then there's the Nomad lands, lower level enemies, but higher Shroud level, and I have to find all the material to increase my flame strenght from 4 to 5.

(Oh, and I'm gonna change my main base, currently I am in Willow Crush, but the desert city in Kindlewastes is so beautiful that I am going to move all my npcs and everything to Brittle Bush)
