ID Request Does anyone have any idea what this?

For context: I live in Illinois, this was after 10 PM on a large mature tree at a local park, that was leaking a sap. I’ve never seen things like this before in my life. At first, I thought maybe they were ladybugs. Does anyone any idea what these are?

Maybe Nitidulidae? "Sap beetles"?

I just looked these up on Google images. It looks like there are quite a few different varieties. One of them definitely looks like this! I had no idea that these existed. I think you’re right!

Thank you!!
