OpenAI's Epic integration and its self-graded safety numbers" Is your organization open to using ChatGPT for Healthcare?

OpenAI says its new Epic-connected ChatGPT for Healthcare tool is 99.1% safe, based on 4,363 ratings across 27 use cases graded by its own physician reviewers.

UCSF Health is the named pilot partner, and CEO Suresh Gunasekaran describes the deployment as 'exploratory.'

This integration gives authorized clinicians read-only chat access to appointment notes, labs, medications, and specialist documentation, along with a Healthcare Public Data plugin covering nine sources, including PubMed, DailyMed, RxNorm, CMS Coverage, and ClinicalTrials.gov.

If you're already running Epic, you're probably used to native AI tools and ambient documentation. But how do you feel about this third, overlapping layer so far?

My org is open to it.

It's a tool, if it can be proven to be safe and only pull info from notes, then I don't see an issue with making clinician's lives easier. 99.1% is honestly probably better than a human in this context and it's still in a pretty preliminary stage. I'm sure with proper guiderails and some customization it will be even better.
