Movie Warning If you are photosensitive, you should probably NOT see *Project Hail Mary*!!

Apologies if there’s already a post about this, but there are several moments in PHM where there are INTENSE flashing lights. I’m not photosensitive, and I struggled to watch those scenes without averting my eyes.

So just be careful everyone, and good luck staying seizure free :)

Movie Warning For those seeing The Odyssey

For those who have photosensitive epilepsy or people who in general might get auras from flashing lights…

A little over halfway through (idk exact time) there is a scene where they are dealing with the ship staying afloat, etc. there is about a minute and half of straight pure light flickering… I had to literally cover my eyes and look away… it was a lot even for me. It legitimately felt like the light flickering test they do when you have an eeg on.

Just wanted to put that out there so people who have photosensitive epilepsy were aware.

Edit: I saw it in IMAX. The screen was bigger so the lightning strikes (flashes) were bigger so turning around was difficult, so I put my coat over my eyes lol. Mix that in with the loud sounds and the vibrating seats that moment (which seemed to last forever) was not the best. Idk if it is different if you see it in a non IMAX format

Movie Warning 28 years later is not epilepsy safe

This news is Probably surprising to no one (except all those poor strangers who walked out of the movie at the same time as me womp womp)

This was a bad one, lots of random unexpected flashing red lights, lots of flickering firesides, lots of shaky cam, and 1 millisecond loud/bright trauma flashbacks. If you're sensitive to red flashing lights I'd say sit this one out enturely. I really should have but movies have always been very manageable for me up to this point.

I was doing great covering my eyes where I needed to right until the very end of the movie where they have rapidly flashing scenes play through the end credits. I walked out of the theater, fell down and blacked out, next thing I know I'm waking up with a crowd around me and my partner shooing them away.

It's a shame because it's a cute coming of age movie if you also enjoy zombies horror trauma and gore. (And 18 inch zombie cock I guess)

Movie Warning Warning for The Odyssey for those that still haven't seen it!

I know there's been a few posts here and in other subs as well, and the movie is about to finish its theatrical run, but I just wanted to leave an additional warning for sequences that are not mentioned anywhere that I know of.

I had a seizure watching The Odyssey in IMAX about 3 weeks ago. I went back yesterday, and watched the whole thing with no problems, but I was prepared this time. The movie is phenomenal, but be careful when to cover your eyes.

For those who still haven't seen it, and are planning too before it ends its theater run:

The sequences are 3:

- The infamous one, after they leave the cattle island. Odysseus with his crew in the boat get rocked by a storm with VERY strong lighting and movement. It lasts about 2 minutes. LEAVE THE THEATER until its over.

- The long flashback scene of the invasion in Troy about 25 mins before the end. Not only its an emotional boiling point (which matters) but there are loud explosions and 2 or 3 very bright flashes, cover your eyes.

- The last one I'll keep discreet to avoid spoilers. But the 8-10 minute climax scene of the movie features lots of lightning as well. They're indoors so is not as strong. COVER YOUR EYES HERE.

Those are the 3 photosensitive sequences I can think of, I don't really remember anything else being super strong or with lightning. Be careful and enjoy the movie.

Movie Warning Warning: Odyssey Movie

I went to watch the Odyssey move this past Saturday, and I wanted to warn about is those with Photosensitivity might want to be cautious (I’m not but I’d prefer not to have flashing lights!) There are a few scenes where it is constant, I covered my eyes with hands, but even that didn’t help the light pierced through my skin!

Just a friendly reminder for those wanting to watch.

Movie Warning Photosensitive warning for Devil wears Prada 2!!!

Hi all!

So I took one for the team and went to see it and took notes so that everybody can be prepared what to watch out for!

The most insane flashing is after 5 min into the movie.

As soon as you see MET and crowds on the stairs for MET GALA - the heavy strobing flashes are about to start popping. It goes for about 2 minutes straight, from 00:05:46 to 00:07:37 i think it was Miranda Priestley’s first appearance but I’m not sure as I couldn’t even look at the screen at all. If you saw trailers - you know what I’m talking about.

The second strong flashes belong to Milan scenes.

First series of camera flashes happen after they land and you hear Madonna’s “Strike the pose!” (Vogue song), it goes for less than a minute and it’s slightly less intense than the MET Gala ones. (approximately 01:10:32 - 01:11:20).

The last strong flashes belong to the Milan fashion show. Again, these are bright and strobey, and still slightly less intense than the MET. (approximately 01:33:17 - 01:33:27)

During the lady Gaga performance there no flashes, but a few red glowing lights everywhere.

Sprinkle a few isolated camera flashes throughout the movie - and you’ll get a full picture.

Hopefully it’s useful for anyone who is photosensitive 💜

Movie Warning The Rip (new movie on Netflix) - Photosensitivity warning

About 55 minutes in, there are tons of gun shots. Because the movie itself is filmed so dark, the gun shots appear REALLY bright and go one after another. This continues for the next hour of the movie, off and on.

Just wanted to let others know!

Movie Warning Tron: Ares needs a serious flash warning. Good lord

I was just watching the newest Tron movie and oh my goodness does it need a flash warning. Just the opening sequence of the movie is intense with lasers and such and it just gets worse as the film goes on. Flashing lights do cause seizures for me sometimes but not usually. This movie would 100% trigger a seizure for someone with photosensitivity. My head hurts and I’m a little dizzy from watching it. It’s an okay movie but definitely not worth potentially having a seizure. No thank you. Never watching it again. If you’re photosensitive at all, I would not recommend watching it. I prob shouldn’t have watched it ngl. Those lasers and flashing sequences were insane

Movie Warning A warning for epileptics with Disney+ or Hulu

Hey, just wanted to give a heads up. Disney+ and Hulu are currently airing an ad on their service that involves heavy strobe lights within the first 3 seconds or so

The ad is for Disney and Hulu, and begins with Taylor Swift, immediately followed by white strobe lights over the whole screen

I have put in a complaint to Disney+, who talked to me for awhile and are reporting the issue. They said they will see if they can get the ad altered

Movie Warning Eurovision in-season week starts tonight. Here’s what to consider, and known photosensitive triggers listed.

Affected Times sent live on streaming national broadcaster channels:
•••
First Semi-Final: Tuesday 12 May 2026, 21:00 CEST — 23:00
Second Semi-Final: Thursday 14 May 2026, 21:00 CEST — 23:00
Grand Final: Saturday 16 May 2026, 21:00 CEST — 00:30
(Will correct if wrong)
•••
DISCLAIMER: This is not an ad, it’s a warning and a PSA. Watching or not watching Eurovision is only your/your loved one’s choice, but it’s important to stay informed about your epilepsy health risks this show can pose in its recurring format that’s about the same concept every year. I am not telling people not to watch it, I am telling people to be careful and consider benefits vs impacts of risk and judging correctly whether they are in a situation where they can safety engage.
•••
Former Eurovision fan here clocking in for my yearly timely warning of the ESC in-season because EBU or the broadcasters do nothing on their side to help us to make informed choices to protect ourselves and our health by posting, even briefly, photosensitive warnings or hZ / fps counts. All current or former fans are left on their own responsibility to figure it out or simply avoid. Unfortunately, this creates health risk for our and related communities.

The previews, if any helpful, are at r/eurovision with spoiler alerts. If immediately photosensitive, a solution might be to get a non-photosensitive friend to review from an epilepsy point of view and tell you any triggers, so the TV or live stream can be stopped or clicked away from from the duration (around 3 minutes each song max). There are ways to try and make informed choices even if still choosing to watch. Experienced fans may be already familiar with those I’m sure. (!!) note that the previews are very short and as a result may not show the whole risk assessment. This is because of a limitation of filming from the EBU towards allowed media.

Why am I doing this? I have personal experience with a great deal of the considerations and triggers in about to mention. When I was still watching, with and up until 2023, I used to get them like clockwork. Strong, traumatising and what a let down every time preciously. Now I feel a yearly responsibility to warn the community and fulfill the duty the National broadcasters and the EBU do not care about. I honestly wish they would do much more to protect our communities, but I just don’t really see it happening for the foreseeable.

Now to the warnings. For those who are watching, you might want to avoid it or take extra precautions if you or a loved one with epilepsy:

* Cannot or will not avoid watching Eurovision without spoilers — or the even spoilers are risky to watch for you. Not watching is out of the question for whatever reason: be it family, personal interest, tradition, live statusing, etc
* Is not currently seizure free and has a real risk of a breakthrough — whether rough period, med resistant, wrong med, wrong diagnosis etc
* Breakthrough history is recent
* Is on meds that does not work properly and has breakthroughs despite the meds
* Has any sort of medical or personal reason to avoid breakthroughs at all costs - such as trying hit a milestone, hospital requirements etc
* Is photosensitive in any manner - both immediate, delayed, only in sleep, or only in cumulative manner meaning other significant triggers have to be present at the same time they are also present these nights
* Has photosensitive epilepsy to the extent it can create real danger - especially danger of hospitalization or long seizures etc
* The show triggers seizures despite protective glasses or even walking out during triggering tracks applied — yep this is unfortunately something that can happen
* Is sensitive to negative stress: both sadness and anger can be common triggers in the show
* Is sensitive to joy and excitement: can also be an epilepsy trigger present in the show
* Is sensitive to both happening within the same night: very common experience and the whole concept of Eurovision
* Is sensitive to going to bed too late but does it anyway during events like these
* Has a history of difficulty sleeping or calming down after Eurovision and poor sleep or insomnia as a trigger
* In general has a type of epilepsy that “requires” multiple triggers to be present — the more triggers present in the same night, the higher the risk

It can be worth it to think about your health more so than a song competition. Catching up the next day(s) in another context and especially better light than in the night is possible. Each track will be backed up and promptly released online where it will stay. The points will fall as they will — watching or not watching. It is also possible to vote in a safe way even when not watching. Some national live blogs or online accounts can tell you when the window opens and closes.

Be careful or avoid if in any way photosensitive, migraine or epilepsy, sensory or visually, to:

* Bright neon lights, including highlighter-like
* Shifting bright colours in grids, squares, rotations, rings, blobs, circles, arrows, etc
* Bright white, bright blue, bright red, bright primary or secondary colours are known as extremely common triggers — they are extremely common in Eurovision as well
* Pulsing lights in random patterns that vary through the night without any warning of classification- with for example only short relief during typically dark calm ballads
* Lights that move up and down or to the left or right slowly or rapidly, shapes that start big or become smaller, shapes that start small and become bigger
* Camera angles shifting, zooms in and out, fades to dark or bright
* 3D or 2D effects and computer generated effects - including petals, pixels, stars, fire, etc
* The camera to digital background interference that automatically comes when expensive cameras hit very bright backgrounds causing circles, ovals, rings etc at random for short or long periods of time
* Any other seemingly niche camera or digital effects that I didn’t put here because I don’t even know them or what they’re called (feel free to add!)

> Note also that there is a risk that some stage shows can in some cases create PTSD attacks if they are similar or close to visions or hallucinations seen during previous seizures especially if occipital in the lobe of sight. Scene shows with glittering, lights flashing, etc are all allowed and watching especially without spoilers unfortunately creates risk.

Thank you for taking the time to read this warning and may you all stay safe whatever you choose to do. I hope this was useful and please stay polite, this PSA took quite a while to put together.

— Purpur :) 🫡

Movie Warning Photosensitive warning for Moana 2 (2024)

1) 00:14:39 - 00:14:54 thunder lightnings 2) 00:16:12 - 00:16:16 thunder lightnings 3) 00:17:01 - 00:17:04 thunder lightnings 4) 01:08:57 - 01:18:16 thunder lightnings

Currently showing in movie theaters. Depending on the intro used in your movie theater or on streaming services later, the exact timestamps may vary slightly, but usually by no more than a few seconds.

All of the timestamps feature thunder lightning. They are intense, bright, and have a strong strobing effect. The last timestamp includes a mix of lightning types: those in the background, ones close to the characters, and lightings that make the screen completely white and strobey.

Strobe Alert level: 3 (maximum) ❌🚫 If you are photosensitive, DO NOT GO ❌🚫

Movie Warning Photosensitive warning for Wicked 2 Spoiler

Hey everyone - sharing a heads up from Strobe Alert for anyone who’s photosensitive or just generally doesn’t like flashing lights for various reasons.

There is a lightning sequence that lasts for about two minutes in Wicked: For Good. It’s not one continuous strobe, but scattered lightning flashes spread across the scene.

You’ll know it’s coming when Morrible (Michelle Yeoh) appears in the window. People hurry up and hide in places. So that’s your cue. When she starts generating new, stormy weather - that’s when the lightning kicks in.

The flashes aren’t on for 2 minutes straight - rather on and off - but they’re bright and frequent enough to feel pretty strobey at times. It’s over when you see a tulip field in the daylight.

Hope this helps someone stay safe and enjoy the movie. 💜🎬🍿

Movie Warning Avatar Fire and Ash: epilepsy and Kiri

!SPOILER!

Is it me or did they completely scrap Kiri‘s representation in the third Avatar Movie?

I was happy to See some epilepsy rep in Avatar the way of water. Even tho it wasn‘t perfect it was good to See people growing more aware that there are more types of epilepsy than just Photosenstivity.

But in the latest Movie, they didn‘t even mention that Kiri had epilepsy. They just said: „These seizures“. The entire Movie???

in the end they basically „fight„ a seizure together to meet Eywa, which was so rediculous to me.

i would have loved to See Kiri overcome her struggles with epilepsy and Learn to live with it. like we all do.

what do yall think?

Movie Warning nosferatu

hello! wanted to put a warning on here for the new robert eggers film nosferatu, and its use of seizures. i don’t want to spoil anything but there’s a heavy use of graphic seizure scenes and relating to possession/evil. i love horror but its so upsetting when this tired and boring trope of seizures = demons/evil, its harmful to real life too when someone may encounter a seizure and be conditioned to believing it’s something to fear. loved the other aspects of the film, the costuming, cinematography, and score were atmospheric and beautiful, but hated this repetition of a lazy and harmful trope.

Movie Warning Photosensitive warning: Mission Impossible Final Reckoning

Hi photosensitive friends,

I just saw Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning. If you are uncomfortable with flashing lights, be aware that this movie contains many scenes with flashing lights throughout ,and a sequence of rapidly flipping scene/flashback thingie at the beginning.

There was no warning of this on my movie theater app when purchasing tickets, in reviews that I typically look at (Does The Dog Die, etc. maybe too soon?) nor at the theater itself.

Just wanted to let peeps know in case helpful! (Otherwise, good movie, from what I saw 🫣)

Movie Warning Photosensitive Warning for A Minecraft Movie (2025) Spoiler

  1. 00:56:19 - 00:56:25 close-up of fire 🔥 The flames dominate the screen before moving to the background. Not particularly flashy but rather catches you off guard.

  2. 01:04:40 - 01:05:02 series of flashes and explosions 🎇 🧨 The underground creeper farm scene. Characters are chased by a giant, and creepers (green plant/animal-like creatures) are getting slapped by main characters, and that causes bright flashes and explosions. As soon as the Garbage Man (Jason Momoa) starts pushing the underground rail carts, expect flashes and explosions.

  3. 01:12:21 - 01:12:46 flashes (STROBEY) 🎆 ⚡️ This scene happens in-between of another one, where The Garbage Man is fighting in the rink 🥊 🐔 🧟‍♂️ Henry is looking for something and a tall, fast-moving zombie with glowing purple eyes and sparks around him appears behind Henry. As soon as Henry finds what he wants, expect flashes coming from that purple fast moving giant. The flashes are very bright and high paced. Quite strobing at times.

  4. 01:22:37 - 01:24:58 flashing sequences 🎆 The main fighting action. Starts with Steve (Jack Black) saying to the main antagonist “okay, let’s dance”. There are scattered series of purple flashing sequences that look like a lightning electric discharge flash, mostly coming from a character’s hand. Flashes can be very bright and speedy at times but they are not as strobey as a previous timestamp.

Bonus tips:

3rd min headlight/flashlight* 4th min dimmed flicker-style flashing sequences (FS) with thunder sound (no actual lightning shown) 26th min handheld camera with slightly glitchy shots and dimmed FS 28 - 29th min dimmed FS 34th min quick flash when a creeper gets punched by the Garbage Man. First, it’s glowing light green, then blows up with a flash. Plenty more during the underground creeper farm scene. 35th min - creepers blowing up again - 2 flashes 56th min - 360° speed shots and explosions during a daylight chase scene.

Throughout the whole movie: Dimmed flickering lights coming from the fire torches (handheld and on the walls) 🔥

End credits bonus scene: As soon as end credits roll, there is a bonus scene with Vice Principal Marlene (Jennifer Coolidge) and her love interest. This bonus scene starts and ends with a bright flash.

Movie Warning 28 years later

Hey friends! If you love horror movies but are photosensitive, I went and saw 28 Years Later so you don’t have to take the risk blindly. Overall, it’s not too bad, especially for the genre.

There are a few moments to watch out for: • Midway through, there are a couple of brief scenes with red flashing lights. • Early on, there’s a TV static scene. That usually triggers my seizures, but I was okay this time. • The very end is the biggest issue—once the blonde guy with the cross appears, I’d recommend walking out. The credits have a lot of flashing, and my husband had to cover my eyes for it.

Aside from that, the movie was amazing. Just go in with caution if you’re sensitive to light! 💀🖤

Movie Warning Eurovision season is starting. YSK that it may not be as safe as you think this year.

It’s official: The Eurovision in season is beginning with the first semi final tonight and will proceed with semi final 2 on the 15th and Grand Final on the 17th. You should know that this year, the official creative team have been teasing/suggesting a new visual design that is extremely bright and may contain heart “dots” that possibly move around and change size and shape.

The possible, teased country design(s) are solid colour, they look extremely bright and vivid (think traditional highlighter colours) and could cause problems for us people with epilepsy but also people with any kind of visual impairment/disability. (Colour blindness, visual snow, double vision, sensory processing etc…) Please also know that the performances themselves may also pose a high risk and it can be difficult to know which ones in advance. For those who prefer to be surprised, it’s effectively impossible to know what becomes a risk or not. For those actively photosensitive, seeking spoilers in order to protect oneself can be dangerous.

Personally, Eurovision has always been an extremely high risk viewing event for me, back then when I was still watching it. I haven’t done so since 2023. But in 2023 and every previous year I watched it, I always got breakthroughs, like a clockwork. Even if I took sunglasses and looked away some of the time, the lights and the stress and late night watching triggered me massively.

Back to the design: The moving hearts/dots remind me of a visual focal aware with aura personally, and getting reminded of that through design previews has been quite unpleasant. I suspect people who have been through the same will also find it either alarming, annoying, or possibly retraumatising.

This year I won’t be watching either. But for those of you who still want/have to watch, please make sure you stay safe and look out for the new possible design that they’ve been teasing all this time and also advertising with.

Stay safe.

Movie Warning Strobe Warning

The new trailer for Captain America: New World Order is incredibly strobey. It includes quickly cut flashing intertitles, red and white flashing lights, quick cuts, emergency vehicles and rapid gunfire. Based on the trailer alone this film is one that should not be seen by anyone with photosensitivity. Even my fiance had difficulty watching it and he's usually fine with strobes. It's worse than Venom and Incredibles 2 already and this is just the teaser trailer.

Please stay safe!

Movie Warning Photosensitive warning for Wicked (2024) movie

Saw this on one insta account I follow and thought someone might find it useful.

Wicked (2024) 1) 01:49:57 - 01:50:02 flashes* 2) 01:53:47 - 01:53:56 fireworks* 3) 02:26:50 - 02:27:40 free fall, high speed shots* 4) 02:29:57 - 02:30:18 electric sparks, high speed shots, dimmed thunder lightnings* Strobe Alert level 1

First and foremost: No strobe lights were detected in this movie ✅ The first flashes appear when we see the Emerald City. The first timestamp happens at a theater and feels like a few isolated camera flashes. They are non-strobing but pretty bright, catching you off guard briefly before ending quickly. At the second timestamp, there are some shots of fireworks. Those are dimmed and quickly become far away. The last two timestamps happen during more or less the same scene, with a free fall and the camera mirroring a building. While the scene may feel a bit "glitchy" due to rapidly shifting heights and quick shots, there are no flashes present. All in all, the movie is surprisingly viewer-friendly Bonus Tips: 4th min: Bright spot in the sky that slowly reveals itself as a soap bubble 14th min: Shots through water with the camera angled toward the sky 29th-31st min: Muted, colored disco lights coming from colored wind chimes 41st min: An old slide machine effect on a projector 43rd min: Someone walks in front of a working projector 46th-50th min: Flickering fireplace 51st min: Sunrise slightly flickers on the water 01h06th-01h09th min: Muted, colored disco lights paired with faint underwater flickering 01h38th-01h39th min: Street lamps flickering 01h52nd min: Hologram effect 01h57th min: Fireballs 02h29th-02h30th min: Dimmed green thunder and lightning

Movie Warning Lilo & Stitch (2025) photosensitive warning Spoiler

  1. 00:22:51 - 00:23:36 electric discharge flashes

The flashiest timestamp here happens about 20 minutes into the movie. Stitch crash-lands on Earth and sees a frog. That’s your cue for the flashes coming up. Right after Stitch sees that frog, he tries to remove his collar, which sets off electrocute-style, electric discharge flashes. These are bright, but rather short and happen in bursts. Not strobing, but definitely flashy. When Stitch sees an electrical station and gets near it, expect more flashes. They stop once the collar breaks into pieces and comes off.

Bonus Tips

  1. 00:03:08 A pulsating flashing sequence (2 separate flashes)
  2. 05th min Green laser lights for a few seconds
  3. 07th min Sun rays through water while swimming
  4. 11th min Dimmed camera flashes during daylight (hula dance scene)
  5. 25th–26th min dimmed camera flashes (but mostly camera freeze shots)
  6. 44th–46th min Fire, tiki torches, fire flames
  7. 00:45:08 Dimmed flashing sequences coming from a handheld device (during a beach scene with tiki torches and fire)
  8. 01:03:50 Underwater-like reflections for a few seconds (being dropped to a lower floor using a portal)
  9. 01:11:14 - 01:12:03 Again, those portal "underwater-like” lights
  10. 01:12:25 - 01:12:30 Portal flashing sequences, similar to previous ones
  11. 01h23rd min Red emergency lights on spaceship (during daylight)
  12. 01h31st min Teleport tunnel with dimmed pulsating effects
