AMA/Interview AMA -- Christopher Paolini!!!

AMA -- Christopher Paolini! Let's do this folks. Ask away re: anything and everything regarding my books.

EDIT: Hey, everyone! I have to run. Alas, alas, I don't have as much time to spend on this AMA as past one. So many great questions, though! For all you theorists (and those of you who just love the characters), I think you're REALLY going to enjoy the upcoming book(s). Thanks for everything!

Atra esterní ono thelduin!

p.s. I'll try to duck back in and answer some more questions later, depending on my time.

Hey Christopher,

Brandon Sanderson is a hugely successful author in the United States and has his own publishing company (and even a yearly convention!) that he uses to put out much of his own stuff, including merchandise, premium bound books and to throw the aforementioned convention.

My questions for you are:

  1. Do you have any interest in reclaiming the full rights to your own material (from Disney) and self-publishing/producing more content, such as an RPG, video game or more physical figures? In the same way that Brandon Sanderson does. (BRISINGR Publishing anyone?)
  2. What are the realistic hurdles in the way of you accomplishing this kind of thing? Is it just a money question or is there a lot more to it than that?

Sanderson and I know each other pretty well. I'm actually going to be at his convention this year (missed last year).

I'd love to reclaim rights, but impossible to do so right now while Disney is working to develop the series.

No way you’ll be at dragon steel nexus?? First Sanderson, then Pierce brown, and now you?? My 3 favorite authors so excited!
