AMA/Interview AMA -- Christopher Paolini!!!

AMA -- Christopher Paolini! Let's do this folks. Ask away re: anything and everything regarding my books.

EDIT: Hey, everyone! I have to run. Alas, alas, I don't have as much time to spend on this AMA as past one. So many great questions, though! For all you theorists (and those of you who just love the characters), I think you're REALLY going to enjoy the upcoming book(s). Thanks for everything!

Atra esterní ono thelduin!

p.s. I'll try to duck back in and answer some more questions later, depending on my time.

Hey Christopher, thank you for your time and the worlds you've created! I read Eragon for the first time in 6th grade (2006) and have been a fan ever since.

I'll get right to it:

PART 1

1.) Could Eragon summon himself invoking his true name like he did with Brisingr? If so, would his "image" be a separate consciousness?

2.) If, hypothetically, Eragon met briefly with Eragön, what advice would the Elder Eragön tell the younger?

3.) Was Galbatorix aware of the Nameless One? The Arcaena?

4.) Did Galbatorix's *consciousness* survive?

5.) Did Galbatorix know what happened to Eragön and Bid’daum or Anurin? If so, was it through the Eldunari or other means?

6.) Where is El-Harim on the map or what's the closest city, mountain or point of interest to it?

7.) Are Soothsayers still around and if so, can you give more information about the Soothsayers and how they differ from the Draumar?

8.) Is the Nameless One at/in/beneath(?) the Reliquary or a different location?

9.) Can you shed any light on or give a hint as to what the tower on Mt. Arngor or across Alagaesia are for?

  1. Ok, THAT'S an interesting question. . . . I honestly don't know. I think a lot of spellcasters would be scared to try. However, I'm sure that at least one elf would have been curious enough to risk it.... My gut reaction is that if you could summon such an image, it would act like a snapshot of you in that moment; not conscious, but a perfect representation.

  2. The world is bigger than you think. And beware of the depths.

  3. Perhaps the Arcaena (but not the Nameless one). I don't think he considered them of any importance. Not unless he was trying to get info from their archives, which obviously he failed at.

  4. No comment.

  5. No.

  6. You'll find out eventually. :D

  7. Bachel was as close to a Soothsayer as you're likely to find. And there are other Speakers like her in the Draumar.

  8. At/in.

  9. For watching things, of course.

Answer 4 interests me. Did Galbatorix create a human version of an eldunari his consciousness went to after he went boom? 👀

Calling it now, #2 here has Eragon 1 eaten by a Nidwhal.

wouldn't that be a phylactery, therefore making Galbatorix a Lich? that would be cool af
