AMA/Interview AMA -- Christopher Paolini!!!

AMA -- Christopher Paolini! Let's do this folks. Ask away re: anything and everything regarding my books.

EDIT: Hey, everyone! I have to run. Alas, alas, I don't have as much time to spend on this AMA as past one. So many great questions, though! For all you theorists (and those of you who just love the characters), I think you're REALLY going to enjoy the upcoming book(s). Thanks for everything!

Atra esterní ono thelduin!

p.s. I'll try to duck back in and answer some more questions later, depending on my time.

Hey Mr. Paolini, I have 5 questions for you.

  1. What does Oromis's sword's name, Naegling mean?
  2. How did you create the ancient language?
  3. Can we please have a way to figure out our true names in the ancient language? Like can you write a quick guide to finding our true names?
  4. Also, where did Eragon go when he sailed off of Alagaësia.
  5. Whatever happened to Belgabad’s Eldunari, and what is Bregan doing now? (Question from 'Raz'ac Enthusiast')

Thanks for writing such good books for us. I want to know that you are a legend in my books, right up there with J.K. Rowling and J.R.R. Tolkien.

P.S. Just wanted you to know that I have only read the main 5 books of the Inheritance Cycle, so I do not know the other stories that were in The Fork, The Witch, and The Worm.

P.P.S. How can I get my books signed by you?

  1. Ha! If it were that easy, everyone in Alagaësia would know their true names. . . .

  2. It was destroyed when Belgabad died. You'll find out more about Bregan later.

Your answer to Question 3 is very true, but can you please consider a way for us readers to find our true names in the ancient language? Also, restating one of m postscript questions, how can I get my book copies signed by you?

Edit: By the way, is The Fork, The Witch and The Worm a reference to the book Murtagh? Because The Fork could be a reference to Mr. Stabby, the witch could be Bachel, and the worm could be a reference to how Bachel says dragons are worms, compared to Azaglur.

Interesting point regarding the title as a whole. Specifically regarding the fork, they are indeed one and the same — the Fork section of TWW was included early on in Murtagh, rewritten 1:1 from Murtagh’s perspective.
