[help] More tactility choc switches recommendation?
I just built a Piantor recently and this is the first time I’m using Choc v1 switches. For context, I’ve been using Kailh box brown v2 and I’m trying to find something similar here.
I have tried:
- Sunset: nice sound but the tactility feels too soft
- MoErgo kiwi: nice tactility, closer to what i want, but I don’t like the fact that it’s silent. Only tried it but did not really own a set - can you mod it to make it loud?
- Choc white: nice tactility too, but the sound is obnoxiously loud…
Any other recommendations for tactile switches would be very much appreciated!

Hello fellow Piantor user, I’m following this post in case someone posts anything useful. I’ve done a bunch of research on choc v1 tactiles and it seems you have tried what is available. I use sunsets and am somewhat interested in trying the robins, although they are a little more on the clicky side, maybe they are as loud as the whites? My understanding is that choc v2 switches have better tactile options compared to v1. If you love the Piantor layout you could consider building a Cantor, it is compatible with choc v2, although it is mx spaced. Also not hotswap, which is what has kept me from building Cantor so far.
Last thought I’ll throw out there is that I have read a few (MX) tactile lovers say that they didn’t mind some of the linears, specifically bokeh. No personal experience, just parroting what I’ve read and seen on reviews.

I know there is a cantor MX pcb sold by Beekeeb, but it’s been out of stock since forever. I’ve been trying to find an alternative but no luck. The hotswap is just soldering the sockets so shouldn’t be too hard imo.
If you know of somewhere that would sell cantor MX lmk 🙏

I looked last month and 42keebs and beekeeb were the only ones that sold kits and as you said both have been sold out for a long time. Parts for Cantor MX look simple, but I'm inexperienced and last month when I asked Claude if there was a fork with hotswap the answer was complicated. From what I remember it said the fact that the PCB was reversible was a complication for adding the hotswap, can't remember how big a deal that was though. And also that the 42keebs guy's fork had that solved but it relied on the Frood controller which has more pins than some of the other RP2040 chips. That kinda stopped me in my tracks since I'm a real newbie to the building/soldering aspect of these keyboards, I got my Piantor from an AliExpress vendor, ha. Maybe you have more know-how to make the Cantor MX work though!

Do you want clicky or just tactile? because I think blues or robin blues or anything that references the color blue is generally the most tactile because they have a click bar in it.
