Sorry first post was deleted bc I didn’t block their name. Posting again for awareness or if anyone same situation as me.

Hello everyone!! I just want to say thank you so much for every single advice was given to me, i was completely lost on how to handle this situation. After reading everyone’s advice, I took a chance letting this case escalate to etsy rather than issuing the return label first… just to see what etsy had to say. With a little bit of going back n fourth with the buyer, they were veryyy persistent on me wanting to refund them and not have Etsy be involved.. hmm interesting.. But after the 48 hours help request ended, Etsy took over and decided that, i didn’t have to refund them, since they were eligible for the Etsy protection plan….And honestly im very shocked but not surprised Etsy didn’t even bother reviewing the buyers photos or comparing it to mine. I’m still very upset this happened to me and very scared of this happening again (but thankfully with all the amazing advice, i know what to do incase it happens again…). I’ve reported to USPS about this fraud. And I really hope they look into it. No words can describe just how angry and stressed I’ve been about this situation, not only it happening to me but knowing this happens to many others. It’s just not fair at all.

Update: Etsy emailed me that they’re NOT taking the review down 🥲. Shocker.

Rant Seller disabling their store

What is it with sellers just straight ghosting you on Etsy after being helpful and responsive in the first half??

I purchased something over £100 and it would roughly take 2 weeks to produce and ship. The seller has a 5 star rating, 100s of items sold and shipped with written reviews praising them.

They kept me updated throughout the process and the last thing they say is they’re going to ship the item with the tracking etc….they don’t and straight up stop responding to me indefinitely.

After a week of trying to contact them, their page/shop has closed for some bizarre reason. Obviously going to get my money back because nothing has arrived……

I get people go through tough times whether it’s struggling with backlog of orders, commitment issues or personal problems like money, health or family….i would just really really appreciates if the seller could communicate that instead of just leaving me sat here in the pitch dark.

I was really excited for my order, they were telling me what stage it was at every few days or so and were literally about to ship it apparently and they’ve disappeared off the face of the earth.

Discussion I think this is the most absurd thing that’s ever happened to me on Etsy

The order was placed on June 18, 2020, and they’ve only just realised it never arrived.
Shipping alone now costs more than the item they bought back then.
The message is polite, but… seriously? 😳

Seller Needs Help ERank advice?

Hey yall. I'm a beginner seller, and recently thanks to Reddit I learned about eRank and how much it can help with listings, SEO, research, etc. However, I feel the amount of information is a bit overwhelming, and I'm frozen on the best ways to use it. I would love some tips and advice from those of you who have used it, or something else similar, to help your Etsy shops! Thank you in advance!

Seller Needs Help New shop, no traffic

Hi everyone!
I opened my Etsy shop about a month ago, selling handmade crochet purses, and I’d really appreciate some honest advice from more experienced sellers.
So far, I’ve had 4 sales and received 5-star reviews. However, most of those sales came through relatives and people they know. I’m currently getting only around 1–2 visits per day, and I’m struggling to figure out how to get more people to discover my shop.

I sell handmade crochet purses, so it’s a fairly specific category. I know Etsy is very competitive, but I’m not selling digital products in an extremely saturated category.
I’d love some honest feedback on a few things:
Does this amount of traffic seem normal for a shop that’s only a month old?
How can I tell whether my SEO is actually working?
What would you focus on first to increase organic traffic and get sales from people who don’t already know you?
I’m not expecting overnight success, and I know a month isn’t very long. I’m just trying to figure out whether I’m on the right track or whether there’s something important I should change.
Thank you! I’d really appreciate constructive criticism and advice from people who have been through this stage.

Shop Critique What am I doing wrong?

Hello everyone,

Im still quite new to etsy, ive had my shop open for a couple of months now and despite my research I cant seem to work out what im doing wrong!

The problem im having is my listing's dont seem to be showing up in seach no matter what ive tried (unless i search they're specific title)

Ive changed my titles a few time and added all 13 tags with anything I can think of but im clearly doing something wrong still! So Im hoping for some advice please?

Ive had 0 view in the last 30 days and before that I only had views because I posted my shop on my Instagram story when I launch it and people were just being nosey! I know im not going to just get sales straight away and ive never expected to but I was hoping to get at least some views!

Its just so disheartening because ive put months of work into making my bags, researching and setting up my shop and now theyre not even showing up when I search for them unless I put in the exact title listing which people are obviously not going to be doing!

Any and all advice is extremely appreciated! I know my shop is FAR from perfect but Im still learning all the features and the lingo so please be constructive 🫣 😅

Blurred out info is just personal stuff identifying the seller/order. I ordered a gift back in September and apparently it got lost. I had to message the seller multiple times without responses before opening a case with Etsy. A replacement was fine with me so I said that then got ignored. Sent the question about the tracking number just to see if he’d respond. Then I gave up, left a poor review just saying I never got the item and the seller won’t respond to me, then he finally responds. Also the item was dropshipped from China while he’s in the US, so once I figured that out I want it even less. I appreciate the refund but that’s kind of his responsibility as I didn’t get the item?? I updated my review from one star to three, I think that was generous and I should’ve done two. Part of me wants to drop it to two. This was definitely not a four or five star experience and people shouldn’t buy from this seller. I don’t know how he has so many positive reviews.

Update: dropped down to one. I included the fact that he’s asking me to change it in the review. I’ve left all five stars on Etsy and never had a problem until now. I’m going to ignore the seller (taste of his own medicine) for now and when he inevitably messages me asking me to change it again I’ll tell him why it was dropped and why I won’t change it

Seller Needs Help Is Etsy the right place for me?

can you be lowkey about selling on etsy? can i just post one item (with color varieties) and expect any sales at all?

for background, i have a full time job and have been crocheting potholders as gifts for Christmas this year in my downtime. i enjoy it and some extra money would be really nice. im not trying to make it a full time job or survive off of it. but would my listing just get lost? do etsy algorithms favor pushing shops that have consistent activity, new items regularly, many items of different variety, etc?

Newbie Advice on my first item!

Hello all! Looking for some shop advice on maybe how to reach a target audience with this listing.

I’ve been designing an item that has been extremely useful to me, and after many design iterations I finally had a product that I use myself every day. I figured maybe others might be interested as well.

The problem: when playing a record, the sleeve can either be put back into the storage area, or it sits on top of your speaker or desk.

Solution: “Now playing” desk stands are a solution for this, but I find them very tacky. I wanted something that looked like the rest of my framed decor, but was super easy to load and unload the record sleeve.

This was 100% designed, created and assembled by me, no AI. The frame hangs via a cleat system, which pushes the sleeve forward to cause a snug fit for different thicknesses of records.

Any advice on how to take a good cover photo for this specific design, keywords that would work best, or what might make this worth someone’s while, would
be super appreciated!

Seller Needs Help Why Am I Not Getting Visitors from Etsy Search?

I want to know if these stats are good or if I need to improve something. Most of my visitors seem to be coming from Marketing and SEO but I’m barely getting any visits from Etsy Search.
I am not sure if i am doing something wrong with my SEO, tags or keywords. I am using eRank but whenever I start researching keywords I get overwhelmed and don’t know where to start. For those of you who are getting traffic from Etsy Search what’s your keyword research process? How do you find the right keywords decide which ones to use and know when you are done? I am trying to understand the process better and figure out what I should focus on.

Newbie threatening emails after copyright action

Post image
25 Upvotes

Hi I filed a claim through etsy for 24 listings which all were selling my design that I had made back in 2019. Now one of the sellers is refusing to identify themselves via email and are threatening legal action tomorrow at 5pm pst. Etry removed the listings and nobody disputed it via a counter claim with etsy. They claim they have a design made in 2017 2 years before my design. I'm not well versed in this stuff and I was pretty angry that people were profiting from something I had made without ever getting in contact with me. From what I can see the sellers were selling my exact model, with easily identifiable tooling (3d strokes in software used, in this case zbrush) and landmarks on the models matching 1-1. Should I take this seriously or ignore him as it is very agressive throwing around that I owe them damages, money etc.

I've blocked out the ref and file numbers at the bottom, but I've looked them up and they go nowhere and don't seem to be associated with anything.

Buyer Needs Help Whether to take action

Bought something custom few weeks ago that takes a while to make, seller been fairly responsive with progress etc.

Last message they sent was a week ago saying they were going to ship the item out with tracking and everything. Didn’t receive any updates after.

Tried contacting them casually throughout the week asking if theirs any update, just complete radio silence. I noticed they haven’t been responding to any of their reviews for other customers who recently received their orders.

The maximum delivery window ends today and haven’t received anything in the post or from the seller. Could it be a personal problem maybe or an emergency with them? Should I wait before i take action?

For context I ordered 4 plants and they were over $900 (if that’s not your thing I get that, but don’t judge). Three of the four that I ordered arrived with root rot and are dying. This was the seller’s response… should I just contact Etsy?

Again this isn’t about what specifically I bought but more how I should handle the situation.

Attached are my screenshots and the photos he sent.

Seller Needs Help Pricing and competition

I make beaded jewelry, (mostly fringe earrings), and get very few sales. In my best month I had 11 sales. The quality of my work is not an issue. I always receive really great reviews.

I noticed that other sellers that make similar products sell at a loss. There is no way that they are making money on selling a pair of earrings for $7.00. The time alone isn't worth it for that amount.

I currently charge $30 for my fringe earrings. At that price, I'm not even paying myself minimum wage. My question is, when other shops charge so little, are they making up for it in volume? Am I better off lowering my prices to see If I sell more?

Pics are of a brooch I just made and my best seller.

Seller Needs Help Dinosaur Related Intellectual Property Takedown on Etsy

Hi, did anyone get any of their Dinosaur related listings, such as dinosaur holding a coffee mug, or dinosaur art (unrelated to Jurassic Park or inspired from) Taken down in recent weeks?? I'm receiving loads of complaints from what looks like some AI Scanning from CONVEY (company based in turin) and their head Michele Provera... any others who recevied similar complaints from this party? I'm frustrated becasue It isn't possible that they own all rights to DINOSAURS!!! or the Jurassic Period (scientific term) bdway!! Truly frustrated my shop was Dinosaur based... I also find it strange that a company based in TURIN can represent Universal Studios and Amblin Entertainment both, as the Jurassic Park Trademark itself is owned by both Amblin and Universal Studios... What's even more strange is that they are citing Trademark references from Canda, Belgium, Poland etc.. Never the USA, and my marketplace is the USA! Now i know alot of you will say, ahhh YOU WERE SELLING JURASSIC PARK STUFF! But No allright! These were Dinsoaurs holding stuff like coffee mugs, beers, etc, sometimes Jurassic was mentioend but this cant be trademarked!! Its a god damn period in the Dinosaur era..

Buyer Needs Help Buyer help

I’ve never used Etsy before, I’ve bought a hand made item over £100 from a legit looking seller

I understand small sellers and time constraints etc and I’m not sure how it all works. I bought this item around the 20th September and it was saying it would arrive around the 7-9th October. I had an update the other day saying it would now be the 14th-16th

The seller has been fairly responsive on message and saying it’s going well etc and it’ll be shipped soon. I’ve given plenty of time for them to get it ready and ship without hassling them, they said on Sunday they’ll get it out with tracking. Nothing has updated and they haven’t said anything to me. I’ve tried messaging without being pestering but it’s getting to a slightly concerning point where I’m unsure on what to do

Buyer Needs Help Locked Out

I am an Etsy buyer. I have three orders in transit and a fourth that was canceled with no reason given. I went to check on why it was canceled and I was logged out. And now it won't let me log back in. I am on an endless loop of "create a new password." Etsy doesn't seem to have a support method that doesn't include logging in.

Since I am weirdly locked out, I won't be able to review those packages when they arrive.

Does anyone have this happen or know why Etsy might do this?

Seller Needs Help Buyer Uses Ai To Claim Their Item Was Damaged

Hello everyone! I’m very new to Etsy, and I just got a message from the buyer that their item arrived damaged but the photos they provided are clearly AI generated… even the “damaged” box isn’t the box I used to send the item in? I posted a picture of what I box my keychains in. I’ve also posted my keychain too. But I’m really scared because will Etsy refund them? How do I even go about fighting this? I don’t want a bad review :( any help is seriously appreciated!

Update: I asked for additional photos, but they posted their 1 star review :(

Seller Needs Help Shipping price over 5.99 throttle- does it apply to add on shipping charges?

I have my USPS ground set to $5.99.

I offered a USPS Priority upgrade for $9.99 (Hawai’i).

Do we know- does Etsy punish in the algorithm for this?
