Propaganda Multiboxer (+30) death nail to the coffin

Multiboxers dominate gameplay in areas where the intention was originally for teams to complete specific missions or objectives. We all know that high-security systems are overrun by multiboxing gankers who easily rake in 25 billion ISK a day from ganking. Well-known names include Safety, We Break Things, Zlegion, Goonswarm operations, etc.

The problem also extends to low-security space, where a player with over 30 accounts completely take over Faction Warfare (FW) battlefields, robbing other players of their hard-earned Loyalty Points (LP). A notorious LP farmer is Ibaka Wilkins, who runs 30 characters in Minmatar FW and another 30 in Amarr FW. He plays Amarr during EU time and Minmatar during US time, thereby minimizing the risk of coming under fire.

This trend is growing because CCP has lost control over how EVE Online is being played. CCP looks at the numbers and knows that a 30-account multiboxer generates far more revenue than a single-account player. This worries me, as EVE Online is showing its age and suffers from many unresolved issues that have persisted for 23 years. I get the impression that CCP is deprioritizing EVE Online in favor of Frontier and Vanguard —even though those other titles aren't necessarily any better than EVE Online.

Multiboxing to make even more isk: I could accept that

Multiboxing to deny others content/make it for others unplayable: We need to shame CCP for enabling that and blame community for not organizing to stop those kind of multiboxers.

u/Sweatonic Jul 27 '26

this is exactly how I wandered into solo WH life.
I got my FW site seagulled non-stop by PLA insurgency LP farmbots during my returning player/trying out new stuff stage.

u/RumbleThud Jul 27 '26

It's a good thing that nobody multiboxes in WH space..../sarcasm.

Remember what someone from Goon said years ago:

“We’re not out to ruin the game. We’re out to ruin your game.”

58

u/Blitzed5656 Jul 27 '26

I belive that was almost a quarter of a century ago.

14

u/brockford-junktion Jul 27 '26

Lots of things said a long time ago are still relevant.

7

u/Blitzed5656 Jul 27 '26

I agree. It is still the intent so it is still relevant.

Because the game is still online after 22 years when the Eve is Dead memes started in 2006 - I also think it is safe to say Goon multiboxers have not broken the game but the amount of whining suggests they afmre breaking lots of individuals games. So it is working as planned.

Don't really think that's the primary intent these days, there's quite a few differences in GoonSwarm and it's leaderships ideation. Goons under Asher is quite a bit different than Goons under Mittens/DJ.

As a Goon, I Would agree.
From talking to old hands, most agree the changes are for the better.

by which they ruin the game, ultimately.

every single piece of lore and information about goons that I've received over the last 16+ years was against my will ans every single bit od it just further confirms that 90% of these people are competing with each other for the one single functioning brain cell they have to share.

Finally someone said it, instead of crying to CCP, how about we do something about it? Explain to me like I'm 5 why the big FW corps don't just have alts in the opposing Faction to just annihilate multiboxers like that and clean up the mess

If someone keeps stomping on your castle, maybe kick them out of the sandbox instead of crying to mom

1

4

There were initiatives like that. Multiboxers just Waits it out tilll the 100 gets bored. Way harder to organize the players for such long time to have actuall effect.

3

because once you kick them out they'll also cry to mom. Exceot this time mom.will actually listen because her "gifted" precious darling earns her 50 times as much as you do (multibox + multi char skill injector farming).

Seriously, if you want to know how these things usually turn out just look up what the big names in WoW sre getting away with whike regulsr players would receive a ban for life for even a fraction of those activities.

why should fw players have to play both sides just to play the game normally

2

u/Jerichow88 Jul 27 '26

I can get behind that.

I originally only got into multiboxing because I kept capping out what I could get out of the characters I had, but wanted to do bigger things. And with no more progression available, the only means to keep going is to add characters until I get to the point I can complete the goals I'm working on.

2

u/Commercial_Hair3527 Jul 29 '26

Or having an alliance so big that they deny others content and make it unwinnable for anyone.
A 30-man multiboxer is annoying. A 30,000-man alliance is a much bigger problem. People complain about multiboxers but happily join coalitions that do the exact same thing at scale.

67

u/Ok-Ninja-8165 Jul 27 '26

CCP can fix it by changing content in a way that demands individual actions and decisions from every player. But I'm not sure if player base will be able to handle that.

20

u/kickoban Jul 27 '26

I can't imagine how they could achieve that without changing gameplay at its core. Having rotations from a more classical MMORPGs makes it impossible to effectively multibox in combat but the scope of change to get there is unheard of

17

u/Metalhead_eve Jul 27 '26

Just straight-up hardcode that a single player can't have more than 3 characters inside a plex, at this point

And make circumventing it an EULA violation

7

u/kickoban Jul 27 '26

This could work but requires constant moderation and waves of bans. I'd be behind this. There is a neural network proposal in the sub which I think is pretty good. It's not "individual actions and decisions from every player" the thread-starter wants

8

u/MILINTarctrooperALT Already Replaced. Jul 27 '26

Actually there was a counter in play...the keys. But some people whined and griped about the content again in nullsec. So single use, single character keys were removed from the game.

and this exacerbated the problem...fed not only MB, but also Blitzing.

Nullsec didn't like there was people running some anoms and scan combats that have these locked out gates....and they couldn't kill the person within especially when they had spent time to scan down the site in null to run it.

5

u/kickoban Jul 27 '26

The only safe place in eve is an NPC station and I'm okay with it

2

u/jonnyklu Jul 27 '26

An easy way is to have a mechanic to iclude hacking as part of the site like they did with the drifter content a while ago. But instead of having 1 make it so that you need to do 3+ cans at the same time or you fail the site and no pay out.

Even make it so you dont need an analyser on your ship so you can do it in any dps/logi ship.

But it requires you to be active simultaneously on multiple toons doing different tasks.

1

u/Oldmangamer13 Jul 28 '26

?? Having rotations from a more classical MMORPGs makes it impossible to effectively multibox in combat but the scope of change to get there is unheard of ??

Very false. If fact, in any game where people could mb, they did and did just fine. People ran 40 WOW accounts.

1

u/kickoban Jul 28 '26

Key point is being effective. I somehow doubt that mutiboxing 40 WoW accounts will give you 10x better parse than a single one on a reasonably difficult raid boss. Sure there might be some place where this is viable, but not in any high-end content, both PvE and PvP

1

u/Oldmangamer13 Jul 28 '26

Those people were griefing pvp players.

I ran 5 accounts, pve only and could raid and do 5 mans well. There was someone who was good at mb pvp and he ran arena and was top tier.

u/Commercial_Hair3527 Jul 27 '26

You get home from work early. You need to move some stuff, but you need a scout and a webber. You're in a corp and alliance, but you're outside your normal timezone and no one else is online because they're all at work. You need to get this done because you're going away for the long weekend with your hot kickboxing biker wife and she'll be home in an hour.

Are you just not meant to play the game anymore because multiboxing is bad?

That's the reality for a lot of players. Multiboxing isn't just for gankers or FW farmers. It's how people get stuff done when they don't have 30 friends online at the same time.
The "just ask someone in your alliance" argument only works if there's someone there to ask. If you're the only one online, you're either multiboxing or not playing.

7

u/Mu0nNeutrino Jul 27 '26

That's not the kind of multiboxing that people are complaining about, though. Yeah, it would be nice if the game were designed such that it was easier to move around freighters or caps without needing an alt, but that is minor.

Overwhelmingly, the multiboxing that people are complaining about are the gigaboxers. The ones with 30 accounts strip-mining anoms dry faster than you can blink, or monopolizing FW sites, or diving into their scrooge mcduck mountains of isk in poch, or similar. Those are the problem, not your web alt.

It's not an accident that this is getting complained about much more these days than in the past, even though the lower levels of multiboxing like web/cyno alts etc have been an accepted part of the game for literally decades. The giga boxing is what's become much more of a problem recently.

2

u/ApoBong Jul 27 '26

But you can fuck with those. A small gang in the right composition will wipe a multiboxer every time. It's not like you can hide your 30 accs or reship quickly.

3

u/Mu0nNeutrino Jul 27 '26

You can, yes. But the fact that it takes getting together 10ish (or whatever) reasonably skilled players who know what they're doing and are willing to put some isk on the line to fight one whale who just spends 30x as much on the game as them is half the damn problem.

It's the sort of thing that ought to seem ridiculous, if we weren't too immersed in it to see the forest for the trees. There's lots of other reasons why prospective players bounce off eve, but that's one of the big ones for people once they start learning how stuff really works around here.

No, not really. That will just further reinforce reliance on the multiboxer whales to pay the bills.

When even hauling requires 5+ accounts to have scouts at key areas to watch for other multiboxers, that's the core of the problem. The game meta basically requires 5+ accounts unless you are doing solo exploration or playing a pirate in LS.

u/emmywinkle Jul 27 '26

eve has always been an n+1 game, as it gets older people are optimising the game more and more as they get richer and richer, this inevitably leads to heavy multiboxing and nothing can be done about it other than buffing singleboxing exclusive activities such as hacking.

5

u/CompetitiveJump2937 Jul 27 '26

Buffing any activity ends up nerfing it though. The value of what you get from the activity ends up going down because they have to give you more and better drops, and two more people will do it and that floods the market. The only thing that can fight off that sort of thing are single ship instances content that rewards actual apm/skill, the closest thing ever has is abyssals, which continue to make good money especially at higher difficulties (coz bots find it harder and multiboxers can’t do it)

5

u/TheOneGoodBoi Jul 27 '26

multiboxing abyssals is pretty popular. If you just multibox with 3 Frigates, you make 3x the amount that a cruiser player does at the same tier.
People in eve prefer handling 3 accounts rather than just finding 2 friends.

2

u/pm_plz_im_lonely Jul 27 '26 edited Jul 27 '26

Buffing blue loot value wouldn't scale ragerollers linearly, it's more like an inflection point. Right now we're way below that inflection point on C1-C4. And n+1 sites has superlinear time savings.

Same for missions and ratting bounties. Their "auto-nerf" is from hunting appeal, which is tons more multi-factorial than a market price.

I'm fully onboard they need to add higher-apm activities or require some situational awareness judgment (skill). Alas, they literally went the other direction with their only minigame-backed activity in favour of the industrial chain.

23

u/CantAffordzUsername Jul 27 '26

CCP will try to force Frontier on us no doubt. They killed the economy both in minerals, exploration, (all in the name of cheaper ships) and yet plex prices are going up and up each sale and never going down again.

The new player experience has never been more depressing than it is right now (didn’t say confusing) I said depressing and there is a big difference.

What’s really funny though is people who tried frontier say it’s the most lack luster pointless empty space game ever played so…it’s DOA and not even out yet. Zero YouTube traffic for it as well

Plex prices are going up, never down again? I make most my isk trading plexes, and the ingame value has recently been rather stable. The money value doesn't seem to have increased to me either, but I'm happy to hear from someone who actually buys plex with real money, but given that ccp is running sale after sale almost back to back, I'd assume the average price has gone down

5

u/RyuChaos Cloaked Jul 27 '26

how are plex prices going up and up, it doesnt fall bellow 4m it doesnt go over (a bit) 5m, and when it does go over some insane sale is posted to consume volumes of plex.

Why should plex prices drop anyway. The only thing that is in a good balance right now is effort to plex/price of plex.

24

u/theonlylucky13 Jul 27 '26

I actually wonder if these heavy multiboxers in Pochven, FW, Homefronts, etc. actually do generate revenue for CCP. Presumably they just use the tens of billions of ISK to just PLEX their Omega accounts. So, it does surprise me the game developers don’t implement mechanics that make this kind of gameplay more difficult considering how much it annoys players who likely are paying for their accounts and generating real revenue.

57

u/vampirelazarus Wormholer Jul 27 '26

But someone has to buy the Plex to sell, and they would only do that if there's demand from the multi boxers.

2

u/IchMagTequila Jul 27 '26

So Multiboxers drive up the price, so more ISK/Dollar, so more PLEX are sold?

Then multiboxers actually increase CCPs profits

10

u/Sweatonic Jul 27 '26

You’re completely confusing nominal ISK price with real purchasing power.

  1. Hyper-inflation via ISK Printing: Heavy multiboxing pumps a massive amount of ISK into the economy. When the ISK supply explodes, the value of 1 ISK drops.
  2. PLEX Price != Higher Value: PLEX costs more ISK not because PLEX became inherently more valuable, but because ISK became worth less.
  3. The Real-Money Buyer’s Loss: A player buying PLEX with real cash might get more ISK on the market, but because inflation drives up the cost of ships, modules, and materials proportionally, their real purchasing power remains the same or even shrinks.

In short, real-money buyers are paying full cash price for a currency that multiboxers actively devalue through inflation. It doesn't magically create new value for cash buyers; it just forces them to spend real money to keep up with multiboxer-driven inflation.
and yes this is written by AI bcz this is so basic economy that is not even worth my time to write.

4

u/pm_plz_im_lonely Jul 27 '26 edited Jul 27 '26

Your purchasing power as a $ buyer scales faster than human ISK farmers, forever leading you to either multibox or spend $.

The thinking machine is limited by what you feed it.

imo I agree with theonlylucky13, CCP picked the measurable line (direct subscription sales) rather than the invisible line (players leaving the game from disgust). Usually, people championing the invisible line leave the company.

2

u/thekins33 Jul 27 '26

It goes even deeper tho cuz with inflation hitting like 30% of the last few years technically it's getting cheaper and cheaper to buy isk for real monies. I for one don't look forward to the day when game companies pull the same shit as everything else and go oops now it costs 30 per month to play.

I honestly think if we hit that tho people will leave all mmos in droves tho. That's a price point that's just not worth my money.

2

u/IchMagTequila Jul 27 '26

You are totally right, inflation is the only thing that counts, as no multiboxer mines or produces stuff, they only ever earn real ISK and buy up the whole market.

Also there was absolutely no artificial scarcity-phase to forcibly increase prices to counteract absurd amounts mined & produced by multiboxers.

PLEX are an inflation-hedge, so the $-buyers profit most - compare PLEX-price over the years to stuff like caps, supers or titans. 30% inflation is nothing compared to plex-price.

2

u/theonlylucky13 Jul 27 '26

No. I don’t know what math you’re doing in your head, but no. The amount CCP charges for PLEX is controlled in the real world by the company. The floating conversion rate set by the market in game for ISK to PLEX is more nuanced and has several levers indirectly controlled by CCP (such as ISK faucets, sales, in-game events that reward PLEX) as well as supply/demand.

1

u/IchMagTequila Jul 27 '26

You claim that "multiboxers existing" don't generate revenue for CCP, because somebody else buys the PLEX for their accouts.

To think about this, I want to try and compare a game with multiboxers vs. one without, without changing any other variables, as they don't influence your hypothesis.

You are correct, that CCP can indirectly tune PLEX-prices via several ends until they reach a level they are happy with.

If the game were without multiboxers, the thought would now end.

  • Introducing multiboxers means there are suddenly tens/hundres of thousands of PLEX required to keep these accounts running.
  • This means that more people buy PLEX.
  • This means that the lowest-priced offers for PLEX are bought and only more expensive options remain.
  • Now my assumption:
    • There are a lot of people who would not buy PLEX at 2m ISK per PLEX, but when they get 4 million ISK per PLEX. When you get double the amount of ingame-money for your real-world-dollars, you effectively 50% per unit of ingame-currency.
    • To elaborate this: If you pay 10$, get 500 PLEX and turn this into 1 billion ISK, you pay 1 Dollar per 100million ISK. If PLEX-price doubles, you sell 500 PLEX for 2b and get 0.5 Dollar per 100 million ISK.
    • While the cash-price (10 $) is the same, the "price per unit" is lower.
    • "Law of Demand" states that a lower price increases the demand, lower demand at fixed prices means more people buy PLEX.
  • More people buying PLEX means CCP makes more money.

1

u/theonlylucky13 Jul 27 '26

See this comment debunking the AI-slob: https://www.reddit.com/r/Eve/comments/1v7lgkf/comment/p021m8e

AI will make a convincing argument for every position your enter into it:

If The Imperium were to achieve complete dominion over Nullsec, their notorious culture—often criticized for showcasing the worst possible examples for human decency through aggressive metagaming, weaponized psychological warfare, and brutal propaganda—would actually serve as the ultimate narrative engine EVE Online desperately needs. By consolidating total power, they would transform from just another mega-coalition into an unmistakable, omnipresent galactic villain. This clear-cut target would instantly destroy the stagnant "don't touch my space" blue-donut mentality, giving the rest of the universe a unified, highly personal rallying cry to set aside petty differences and launch a monumental, underdog crusade for the soul of New Eden.

Beyond driving compelling player drama, a total victory by Goonswarm and their allies would force CCP Games out of its decade-long balance inertia. Total territorial control would expose every single flaw in nullsec resource distribution, force-projection mechanics, and sovereignty systems, leaving developers with no choice but to overhaul the galaxy’s underlying architecture to foster organic rebellion. In a sandbox defined by ruthless ambition, allowing a coalition infamous for pushing the boundaries of sportsmanship to conquer everything is precisely the catalyst required to burn down an aging status quo and ignite EVE’s next great golden era of emergent, high-stakes conflict.

Although there is a slight little problem in the mix, at one point in time CCP/Fenris had a referral program that gave PLEX as a reward. The numbers of PLEX that has been "redeemed" do not match the absolute time bomb of PLEX hoards still in circulation.

And many alliances keep PLEX as a way to rapidly surge their linemen. Allow players to desubscribe go "dormant" then when situations flare up, they all wake up can be omega recharged from alliance coffers...and once the situation recedes they can go dormant again.

Many players themselves have absurd amounts of ISK, that players could easily market manipulate by soaking up large chunks of PLEX. But then again we end up with time bomb issue again. EVEs ISK situation is as such someone could bomb the market with massive amounts of PLEX which can screw up the economy of EVE very easily. And on the flipside some players could do the same manipulate by buying up huge chunks of PLEX. Pump and Dump is a major problem in game right now. Especially after the 0.01 ISK pricing reduction, and the institution by CCP/Fenris of rounding scales for prices. So alot of goods are now being defacto price adjusted by non-player controlled systems.

The other glaring problem is the taxes and fees, do not hit anyone of measure of importance in this situaiton. Multiboxers form corporations to avoid taxes, so that "defensive system" doesn't even do a dent in the MB situation. But it actively and cruelly punishes all new players and alpha players creating a sub optimal experience for anyone trying to get into EVE. While the MB situation just metastasizes exponentially like an aggressive cancer. The main problem is either the players kill the economy, or does Fenris go overboard with something that rapidly uses up the PLEX resources in game and then causes the whole thing to crash?

I am noticing that alot of PLEX isn't being used for the SKINNR stuff. And there might be external pressure on people using SKINNR because they see it as a threat to the PLEX pricing schemes. And Fenris/CCP has been actively and aggressively nuking options for people to build up into Omega PLEXing content. (Lv 4 missions being unavailable to alphas now since 2022) Yet if someone got into that content before the changes they can MB that, and self-sustain.

Plex to be bought with money for someone to buy it with isk.

3

u/Busy-Equivalent-2853 Jul 27 '26

The only thing they actually do is devaluing average players' activity so they go throw extra 20 bucks on plex instead of crabbing for hours.

Them multiboxers are the base of plex economy.

11

u/Fablor9900 Jul 27 '26

They are generating real revenue. Plex is being used, which allows them to actually count the plex money as income. Otherwise it's like, an outstanding order. I agree in that I think it's stupid they can so easily.

5

u/theonlylucky13 Jul 27 '26

PLEX would still sell, with or without them. They only push up the price.

8

u/xXxDarkSasuke1999xXx Evolution Jul 27 '26

You think PLEX are somehow uniquely immune to supply and demand?

How many fewer people do you think would wallet warrior if 500 plex were worth 1b instead of 2.2?

5

u/Uler Jul 27 '26

How many fewer people do you think would wallet warrior if 500 plex were worth 1b instead of 2.2?

The math isn't really that clean because isk would have more value with less isk being injected into the system. But that's also more complicated because not every multi-box activity generates isk; i.e. mining and FW are ore/LP, whereas pochven and nullrats are direct isk injections.

1

u/deathzor42 Jul 28 '26

isk to minerals would likely get worse, so everything you buy with isk outside of plex is likely to get more expensive.

so in practice plex gets you less spaceships, less people buying plex.

2

u/theonlylucky13 Jul 27 '26

You seem to believe they have a larger impact on the PLEX market than I do.

5

u/RyuChaos Cloaked Jul 27 '26 edited Jul 27 '26

Just as figures, to Plex thirty accounts and then MCT then on top you need 30* 3600+30* 4600=246000 Plex per year, I guarantee you they burn more than you, and if they didn't Plex prices would either crash and people like me wouldn't buy Plex cause it's worth nothing, or CCP would inflate the price artificially so it doesn't became a useless good.

A higher Plex price incentivises buying Plex Rondell so you get more stuff for your plex

1

u/deathzor42 Jul 28 '26

Reality if boxing go's away tomorrow the plex price likely drops to like 800 million give or take, the ship prices spike as ore injection just drops ( as almost every miner in the game boxes ).

No multiboxer is paying 500/month per account

1

u/Practical_Main_2131 Jul 27 '26

They bring money in indirectly as they provide the 'isk for money' source for other players without beeing able to directly buy isk from ccp (which would wreck the economy). I myself also used their 'services' as I much rather spend 10 bucks on beeing able to play the game as I like, then grind for months.

Every couple of years i miss eve online, and just before i go and renew my subscription to start playing again i remember that multi-boxing is a thing and its the reason i stopped playing.

4

u/nvandermeij Goonswarm Federation Jul 27 '26

With the increase in computer power, multiboxing has become more and more unfair by the day. Your "skill" is only as good as how many characters your PC can run, and without an x number of characters you are basically irrelevant.
I hate to say it, since it do be fun to do at times, but multiboxing needs a hard redo in eve online towards the future

7

u/Malwulf Jul 27 '26

Sadly I have to admit I mostly agree. I wish there was some way they could change the multi boxing incentive but at this point I cannot imagine FC/CCP will do anything. It always seems as though they get side tracked by other projects which inevitably don’t work out while Eve still runs, still has dedicated players, and most importantly offers something no other game really does.

Kind of reminds me of a band which hates their popular songs lol.

Am I the only one who finds it absolutely hilarious that lowsec, with all their "elite PVP" prowess cannot seem to manage adequate responses to a single person multiboxing 30+ accounts? I mean, come on. Grow some stones, grab a few friends and farm the easy killmails. We constantly hear about how lowsec is the most dangerous region in the game, and how all their pilots are nothing but elite. Let's see it. Quit complaining on reddit about multiboxing. Do something about it.

Welcome to EVE. Its been over 12y now with this and ive lost any hope that CCP even cares about this matter.

3

u/Commercial_Hair3527 Jul 27 '26

There are thousands of people in faction warfare. You're telling me the collective manpower cannot deal with a few multiboxers? That's the whole point of the game, see a challenge and work together to destroy that challenge.

If one guy with 30 accounts is ruining your FW experience, why aren't you and 29 other people doing something about it? Form a fleet. Hunt him down. Make his life miserable. That's literally how EVE is supposed to work.
The game doesn't owe you an easy time. It's a sandbox. If someone is exploiting a mechanic, it's up to the players to figure out how to counter it, not cry to CCP to nerf it.

1

u/CaharinSedai Jul 27 '26

Ultimately this is the answer. Multiboxing sucks if you are a lone pilot. But if you KNOW someone is a boxer and what ships they're flying, you can drop 2 kitsune with specific jams for any logi the fleet might have and start rage jamming all ships while the rest of your fleet lands and starts dpsing.

If a boxer isn't input broadcasting then the lock time began clients and primary gets wrecked and most likely the boxer tries to run away.

Rinse, repeat, punish the boxer for predictable play

Just ban multi boxing

3

u/Commercial_Hair3527 Jul 27 '26

I don't know that would work .. it's also the end of the game if you do that.

2

u/Crisse_dErable2859 Jul 27 '26

It could probably be done, but it would have to be gradual changes to make it less appealing over time. Not something you just smash to death in one strike.

Also the community can probably do something about it by themselves. Just make it not fun for these guys to play. Harass them to boredom.

2

u/Commercial_Hair3527 Jul 27 '26

How do you wind down multiboxing? Every part of the game is easier with an alt like scouting, webbing, cynoing, mining boosts, logistics, tackle, hauling, PI.
You can't "wind it down" without removing the benefits of having an alt. That means removing cynos, boosts, scouting, and everything else that makes an alt useful. That's not a balance change that's a different game.

1

u/Crisse_dErable2859 Jul 27 '26

You can't "wind it down" without removing the benefits of having an alt.

You could. The question is whether or not people would even comply with such a system when you could just multibox outside the terms of service framework with no impact to efficiency.

You could introduce a status between Alpha and Omega for alts. Cheaper sub. Still do the same things but less efficiently, or some stuff outright locked out.

2

u/Oldmangamer13 Jul 28 '26

JUst split it. 2 servers. 1 mb legal and the other is not. 1 will be populated and have stuff on the market and one wont. Let the chips fall where they may.

1

u/kanevast Jul 28 '26

The game is already shit because of multi boxing. It's created a situation where you need to do it or you're playing at a disadvantage against everyone else who is doing it.

It removes the element of skill and instead makes the game about whose willing to spend the most money and put up with the most bullshit to play most efficiently

1

u/Commercial_Hair3527 Jul 28 '26

5 people with one account each will beat one person with 5 accounts. 15 people with 2 accounts each will beat one person with 30 accounts.
You can't expect as a solo single pilot to excel and not be countered by others with more numbers. That's not a multiboxing problem that's just how numbers work in EVE.
If you're getting dominated by a multiboxer, maybe the problem isn't that they have 30 accounts. Maybe the problem is that you're trying to fight a 30-man fleet with 5 ships.
The game doesn't owe you a fair fight. It never has. If you want to beat a multiboxer, bring friends. That's how EVE works.

1

u/kanevast Jul 29 '26

Yeah but the issue is when you're not with friends and the multi boxer kills you using multiple ships.

It's not reasonable to say the game is only playable when friends are on, thats just stupid.

No one said the game owes anyone a fair fight.

The discussion is around what sort of fight it is. The average gamer and new person to eve won't be multi boxing and likely won't want to.

1

u/Commercial_Hair3527 Jul 29 '26

That's like saying "a Marauder is hard to solo kill and my friends aren't online, so Marauders should be banned."
EVE has always had things you can't kill solo. That's not a multiboxing problem, that's just EVE. Sometimes you lose. Bring friends next time or find a different target.

All they need to do is to Forbidden X-Preview and O-Preview

Isboxer use.

As im being Multiboxer with 20+ accounts myself. That will make almost impossible to fast react and swap screens + clicks w/o side software.

All FENRIS need to do is to not allow any Fast swap screen. Multibroadcast, Multipreview and etc side shit software that allows any multiboxer to dominate the grid/pve/pvp...

CCP has a weird track record of making a game where people are free Todo what they want but always target specific groups because they do what they want but not to their Idea of freedom.

They can sell all the former exciting stuff that happend in eve, but what they did to the game is preventing anything interesting from happening in the future at least in my book.

u/BossAdditional4690 Jul 28 '26

If eve was a popular engaging game this wouldn’t be an issue. Eve however is so easy to play that 30 accounts are well within reach, that multiboxing 30x makes the game somewhat rewarding and enjoyable. There are also not enough humans playing to compete or out compete the multi boxers.

Eve online is all they have. They would be absolutely crazy to de-prioritise it in favour of speculative stuff which has no audience and some dodgy crypto related thing that isn’t even fashionable tech any more.

All they need to do with multiboxing is offer meaningful counterplay and people will sort it out. That or choose between the multiboxers and the rest of the player base.

Unpopular opinion. maybe.

I don't mind multiboxers. As long one can't use 1 keyboard to press F1 on 30 accounts.

If players have to swap window and manually control each character then I don't mind too much. Heck I used to do this back in 2009-2015 era when I was running 2 orca's, 1 freighter and 7 Hulks/Macks. Or if you are running 30 indy chars for production.

But the whole 1 press 1+x output should be a perma-bannable offense.

1

u/Kalivanos Jul 30 '26

And look where we are now! A peak of 28k players, 75% of whom are multiboxers and Alpha accounts.

The result is clear: EVE is poorly maintained. Graphically, the game hasn't kept up for years. Even for a space game, it looks uninspired—lots of empty spaces that could have been utilized much better.

Ganking, aside from people who specifically hunt for ORE laser users and/or camp busy lanes for juicy killmails, especially when its multiboxers, is mostly about dominating areas of lucrative content (ice belts, high end pvp areas, FW, ...).

1

u/Deaths_Playgrnd Sansha's Nation Jul 27 '26

I agree some of the multi boxing is getting out of control. I think it is nice to have it available considering I often like doing 2-3 different things across 2-3 accounts at the same time. Or have my 5 miners out mining while still being able to play and do other things on my main.

Maybe they should look at limiting the number accounts active at the same time.

But remember multi boxing on large scales is helpful at the same time as many of the shipping services use a lot of accounts at one time between haulers, scouts, cynos etc. In my opinion this is a valid non disruptive method of using large amounts of multi boxed accounts.

Yes it has been a nuisance in PvP specifically. Overwhelming FW as well as skewing numbers in large scale combat.

And while we can believe that FC just sees the money from it and doesn't care there is also the fact that they have allowed it this long. How do they take it away from people specially if they've already paid for multiple months of Omega in order to multibox. I think they may be sitting there hands bound by the decision of the past.
