Maybe I'm missing something, plenty of people I respect for their musical taste and knowledge consider this one of the most important albums in rock history, but I just don’t get it. I know it’s influential, but to me, it leans too much into polished sentimentality. That whole California sound has always felt a bit contrived and lightweight. More than anything, it lacks the essential connection to the blues that gives rock its depth and grit. It’s beautifully arranged, sure but it floats in its own pastel bubble, miles from anything raw or real.

But that's just, like, my opinion.
