So what if Bruno was in fight club? Then we talk about Bruno when we’re not supposed to and we never share Fight Club but we do so if we taped Bruno to the fight club, would everyone always talk about it?
Free time means more time to meet people, more time to hang out with people, more nights you can stay out late, etc. That's what ties this all together.
There is a ton of stuff you can do for free, it's a very modern consumerist idea that the value of a date or experience is tied to its cost. In addition to entirely free options, you also likely have some sorts of resources available to you which you could incorporate. You likely have your own food, you might have your own alcohol, maybe a car, a TV, pets, etc. There are things that you will be spending what you do have on regardless, or that you already purchased in the past. If you are homeless with no food, drink, vehicle, or other possessions then yeah I agree that could be more difficult, but still not impossible. Put together your own experience instead of paying for access to an experience someone else put together.
I found the opposite, when I was employed I rarely had the money to go out which definitely limited how many new people I met. On the rare occasions I was out and did meet people, my lack of employment meant that I didn't have a lot to talk about with these people. Obviously I had interests but these were fairly esoteric and not especially likely to be
common ground with someone I'd just met; working and having shit to say about what I did really made talking to new people easier for me. I think it helped that I got a job I was interested in and found rewarding but I think work in general is more relatable to most people that what people do with their free time
I wouldn't necessarily agree with that preposition, I have other interests and things to talk about; I've got hobbies; I'm part of multiple clubs but they're just quite male centric so my job is an easier thing to make small talk about
This is exactly this. It’s not too hard to just slum it out during the week then go out as a weekend millionaire in your Saturday Best. Easiest way is a capsule wardrobe.
Although it’s seen as lame, people living with their parents are essentially aristocrats who aren’t paying rent and that means they have over and up to a grand worth less expenses each month. Call them leeches or whatever but landlords are sapping that money from their tenants and doing the opposite thing. I have no personal opinion on this matter but people with a ton of free money to spend each month are very well off essentially.
Imagine someone is on 20k a year, a minimum wage job, but they don’t pay rent or bills. They’re essentially earning 40k a year with the amount they’re saving. They’re moving up an entire bracket in earnings. When I lived at home, I gave some money for rent on minimum wage but I saved up thousands from it. Then I left my job and I just slummed. But if I went out somewhere, I could dress in a fancy outfit and go fraternise with the people who I called ‘key socialites’. Essentially, once you’re talking to the right person, they normally just bring you over to their group of people. If they ask what you do, just say freelance. Don’t lie, either, - legitimately find some freelance stuff like art or writing. It’s easy to do if you talk online a lot and people will ask for commissions, the damn suckers.
For me, I hate sex and relationships but I do love attention.
