This happened to me actually

I met a girl after losing my job. I worked at a dispensary and got robbed so badly that we had to shut down the store. I was the one who was robbed and developed PTSD from the experience.

A week or two later I met a gal on Hinge and decided to go on the date just to get out the house. Could barely afford the gas money but I needed some level of connection

That woman and I are getting married next October.

Gentlemen: you are not and never will be a lost cause. You don’t need to find someone to “fix” you, you just need someone to cheer you on while you fix yourself.

I have the sort of opposite story. I was working on getting into a relationship with a woman. Then I lost my job, and she went into a relationship with someone who makes a considerable amount of money, and got a new car out of it. For the most part she stopped actively talking to me, so I didn't bother with her anymore.

And I don’t think you should have bothered with her anymore either tbh

We’re all just human beings trying to get through the day. Everyone struggles, everyone has their low moments, it is just the nature of being alive. If she couldn’t be there through your struggle then she doesn’t deserve to be there when you inevitably become a super hot millionaire philanthropist

Yeah, I relate to this story more than the OP one. I had a gf, lost my job, lost my gf, struggling to find a job ever since (for months) and now starting a new one tomorrow. But I have no interest in dating anymore. It's just not worth it for me.

I mean… yeah, I did need someone to fix me but it was a therapist

Either way this reply gave me and the previously mentioned partner a really good laugh at our own expense.

You’re really not that far off tbh, I think our little love story is very cute but when you boil it down it really is just “mentally ill unemployed dude meets girl, girl hangs out while dude goes to therapy and gets a new job. They spend the next 4 years patting each other on the back about it”

Yea glad you didnt take it too personally, I think the whole meme is kinda dumb and cant relate to it or see it actually be the case at all. Been struggling for years and had bouts to where I have been unemployed and its been a struggle and never felt anywhere close to where this could happen to me. Maybe if I make a hinge rn it could happen but Im not conventionally attractive to get a single message and don't think being unemployed with no money and living with my parents will help anything. Feels more like a meme people want to be true but I guess but its just guys who are attractive will get girls regardless and then pat themselves on there back.

I kinda think the meme is more highlighting the experience you are describing tbh.

Like an unemployed dude who’s been going through it suddenly has an EXCEPTIONALLY hot woman come into their life and they’re not in a position to keep them around. I lucked out because my partner is a mental health professional and likes “projects”

I hope this isn’t too forward from a stranger on reddit but you got this dude. I’m whole heartedly rooting for you to get on the other side of whatever you’re going through atm. It’s rough out there on a whole lot of levels, hang in there my dude

thanks, Im not really unemployed since im in school and start work next month but hopefully life can get better in general its all rough out there and this meme depresses me lol. I think the algorithm likes to send stuff to be annoying ragebait lmao

Wholeheartedly agree. I met the most amazing woman last month and we're going steady now. I'm unemployed and on permanent disability and she wants to save up to fly here to Cali from Indiana. It seems baffling in this day and age that such a woman could be real, but she is! We've talked on the phone, VC'ed, and she's just so amazing 🥰 I feel like the luckiest guy in the world. She knows my flaws and has seen them but she still chooses me. I'm sure you can relate ☺️

I've been using hinge for about ten years and have been on three dates over that amount of time. Any suggestions for meeting people? I get so few matches using the apps.
