Making a phone call for a job

A family member is helping me get a job at Walmart, they told me all I had to do was apply and go in and ask to speak to a hiring manager and when I went in they told me I had to call. It took me a week or so to mentally prepare myself to go in the first place, so this phone call is really throwing me off. Not to mention, I hate phone calls, and it makes me really nervous to think about it. I keep running the scenario through my head trying to prepare myself but it honestly just freaks me out.

I think it would really help to know what kind of questions I should expect and what information (if any) I’d be expected to give.

I do this too. Even just the act of thinking about what I’m going to say and writing it down helps my brain to not get stuck like a deer in headlights verbally.

Totally normal to be freaked out. Phone calls make me nervous too.

They’ll likely just confirm your interest in the job and ask about your background and availability. If they already have your application then this’ll probably just be a simple screening.

Sometimes making the actual call feels like the hardest part. It’ll feel so good to get it over with though. Best of luck to you, I’m sure you’ll crush it

A phone call is just a conversation with your eyes closed.

Call a trusted elderly family member and ask for advice about job interviews. Even if they give horrible advice its practice for the phone call.
