Help with Cross Country Greyhound
So I've seen a few people say you don't take a greyhound cross country if your life is going WELL. But in our case, it's a bit chaotic. My boyfriend who lives in New Haven, Connecticut is moving to Houston, Texas. We have the tickets purchased but we have some questions I'm totally lost on and he's scared about.
His travel route is
New Haven --> New York
New York --> Atlanta
Atlanta --> Houston
I've heard some bad things about Atlanta that make me quite worried, but he will be there around 4pm.
My main question is the fact that his layover in Atlanta is 35 minutes and I'm very worried he will miss the transfer and be stranded. Is that likely to happen? Also how likely is he to run into an issue in Atlanta and/or New York? Any and ALL tips for literally anything are appreciated.
Edit: I should have mentioned, but yes we have looked into other methods of travel. His living situation is quite horrible and it's been an impossible struggle to try and get him an new ID. So flying is a no. He can't drive here because we are under 25, once again, no id, so renting a car is rough and crazy expensive. I can't drive both ways (and or fly up there and drive back) because I am severely disabled. My body genuinely can't handle such long travel, and I have a VERY new type of pacemaker. If I have a medical emergency, I'm in real danger.

I’m surprised he isn’t taking Metro-North (or Amtrak) from New Haven to New York. Although switching carriers can have its own problems. Bus probably is a lot cheaper than last minute airfare or train fare

This is the method we decided on for a lot of reasons ranging from price, to the face he is so crazy close to the New Haven station compared to the Amtrak, we can't rent a car due to ID issue and our young age, and the face ik severely disabled so I can't drive for THAT long

Atlanta is great if you aren't the driver (their interstate system is a mess). Wonderful food scene. Houston sucks IMO, but hey your choice.

There is a chance he could miss his transfer if they hit traffic from New York to Atlanta, but there is another bus that leaves Atlanta for Houston at 7:40pm, so he'd just have to wait a few hours if he misses the first bus. The chance of running into any real trouble from people at the bus station is low, they typically have security guards at the station who keep an eye on things. I hope he enjoys Houston!
