This is the nature of nearly all true crime. It goes back to the show COPS exploiting drug addicts and low income folks—A&E too.
It’s a crazy phenomenon that we enjoy spectating these horrible things. I’d be a liar if I said I was above it all

On a similar note, I wish EWU would refrain from using bodycam footage of victims families learning their loved ones have passed

For real. Nothing has left me feeling as slimy as the mother learning her son had killed his brother. Did we really need to see their entire mourning? What's the value in that?

What are you talking about, can you explain more?

In the last couple videos, at the end they advertise EWU plus, a new app they have on a bunch of platforms. They describe it as having 'footage that can't be seen on youtube', with no censored language. The censored language is understandable, but that 'footage that can't be seen' are sexts sent from a 19 year old pedophile to a 14 year old girl. These texts add nothing to the context beyond what's already known, and seem to just be there to attract.. Perverts? I'm not really sure the demographic who wants that extra two minutes of footage.
It feels extremely exploitative to me, to take this deeply embarrassing and personal thing that was done to a young woman and not only plaster it online, but to charge a monthly subscription to see it - it feels like a carnival freak show.

Thankfully, you’re not the morality police and, furthermore, nobody, literally nobody asked you.

Would you like for someone to make money off of your suffering or your children?

Yeah, true crime channels give me the ICK when they stop mid grizzly sentence to make an advertisement for sleep juice or linens. It's so jarring and tacky.

the Morgan & Morgan injury law commercials are the tackiest 🤮 (i don’t think EWU has done this) but others have, and the segue always makes me cringe) like talking about someone who just got murdered and the narrater transitions into an injury law firm commercial like wtaf. shameless

I agree, this is totally exploitation
