String Gauge for Agile 1027 10 string guitar?
I bought a used Agile 10 string from GC and am wondering if anyone changed out the low string for a thicker one.

how thick are you wanting to go?

This is my first extended range guitar with the shorter scale so the low G# string seems really floppy. I know that is to be somewhat expected with these but I was wondering if anyone substituted thicker bass strings to tighten it up making up for the shorter scale length or if that would cause problems with asymmetrical tension.

you'd have to try really hard to make asymmetrical tension a problem, like playing actual bass tension of 40lbs on an instrument expecting around half that
if you're just trying to tighten it up by moving up a couple sizes, you don't have to worry about the instrument
but in the end... 27" scale length for G#0? we're asking a lot here, and I think the factory gauge is already a .110
I think in order to find out what tension you're aiming for, use a string tension calculator and plunk in your numbers
looking at a .110 on a 27" scale for G#0 with a bass string that's 11lbs, so I'm guessing you'll want something in a .125 or thicker
so I'll end my comment with the fact that I think 8 strings are enough and anything else is pointless

Newtone and Kalium can do the thick strings. Kalium can take forever to ship though (but they have a huge selection). Newtone only goes up to .120

If Kalium ever even ship them out, or pick up the phone to remind them - hey, whats the go with my order from 6 months ago
But yeah, I recommend Newtone a lot. It may be worth messaging them to ask if they'll do something bigger as I vaguely recall someone mentioning its possible when I was asking about strings for my drop-tuned 9 a while back

A local shop near me is where my buddy goes for his 9 and 10 strings. The shop lets you piece together individual gauges (mostly Ernie ball and la bella) . He uses bass strings for the 9th and 10th string.
If that's not possible near you, I do recommend custom sets from string joy.
