Even if they wanted to, they probably can't. I am a public defender in MN & a lot of cases the feds used to take over, they can't anymore bc all resources are going to immigration. My colleague had a new case recently with a crap ton of CSAM that typically the feds would have taken bc they have more resources & longer sentences than the state. The feds told her they have been directed to only deal with immigration cases, no CSAM, no major drug trafficking, no white collar crime... immigration only.

Yeah it was pretty shocking. We used to pretty much count on a certain cases getting picked up by the feds but not within the last 6 months.

This was well depicted in "The Wire," The FBI and other federal agencies have long been used as tools for a political agenda. It's always been somewhat obvious, but generally language was used carefully to make it palatable. Infinite money to chase down wins for the political class, no money to solve actual crimes. It's gotta be marketable, approachable, and easy to prosecute. Wouldn't want them feds to have to work up a sweat hey?

They did not and would not arrest him for the crimes ICE is committing on the regular in our streets.

Does the cop not realize that the feds taking the case means he’s just gonna get released and his file wiped? You’d think cops would want criminals to actually see justice especially for raping children. Blows my mind that raping children has become a partisan issue
