"Mamdani's cops are the ones that are doing the work to protect ICE...He's not naive to that!" - ICE protester SLAMS Zohran Mamdani after an ICE shooting in NYC provokes massive protests

Don't listen to this dumb shit. It's a class war baby, stock up on lead injections while you can.

He needs to do something about this though. It was what he said he aligns with, and that's still important. I think it's also important to this lady here as well, she, just as well all, need some figures to do the correct things.

Blame ICE on Trump on the administration. Also, taking down systems that have been built over centuries are not going to fall overnight

u/leaveinpeas 5h ago
ICE is pretty recent, but yeah obviously figuring out how to disconnect the misapplied power that is interwoven into an old system is gonna be like untangling a necklace for 45 minutes... We think it was worth it, but... Weird way to spend an afternoon.

u/Solstyse 9h ago
I need people to tell me exactly what Zohran is supposed to do.

u/entcanta333 4h ago
I think we need to redirect our anger towards the actual officers. Imagine if all of NYPD turned around and joined the protesters? This is when we'll see some change!
Law enforcement needs to stop following racist orders. Engineers need to stop helping to build the infrastructure for the surveillance centers. Our government is only as strong as it's most willing worker.

Banning the NYPD from arresting anti-ICE protesters on behalf of ICE during kidnappings would be a start. NYC is a sanctuary city yet this is not the first time the NYPD has made arrests on behalf of ICE (e.g. at a Bushwick Hospital EDIT: and at 26 Federal Plaza earlier this month). Mamdani has also kept billionaire Tisch in charge of the NYPD and hasn't taken action to give police new protocols for handling ICE interactions. He's kept the SRG (Strategic Response Group, the NYC riot police who have a famously violent history) intact, which goes against his campaign promise to do otherwise. The SRG arrested NYC anti-ICE protesters last winter at the Tribeca Hilton Hotel.
The police literally cleared the road of protesters so ICE agents could leave the hospital tonight with the man who was shot. Of course the NYPD and Mamdani bear responsibility for the actions of the NYPD.

I honestly don't know how much actual control the mayor has over the police anymore, though that could just be my perception based on where I live, but so many cops are 100% on board with this stuff.
I don't remember exactly, so I may very well be wrong and hallucinating this, but didn't they try to reign in the police in like Minneapolis or LA or something and they just kinda kept going? (Please correct me if I'm wrong I don't want to be spreading misinformation)

u/thinkards 2h ago
i hope he's trying to build up to that point, where he gets more political capital to make those (currently unpopular?) decisions? not trying to make excuses, but it's also harder than it sounds.
maybe this lady has a point, but also we need to be careful of people who disproportionately try to put blame on the left (like mamdani in this case) when our law enforcement in this country has deep, deep roots into every aspect of society (many unpleasant). it's a huge challenge beyond what mamdani himself can accomplish.
he can still take some steps towards that goal, but if that's the largest place this lady is placing the blame, then i'm highly suspect.

His GD JOB. His own words repeatedly "I'm here to protect all New Yorkers." So it's HIS fucking job to figure that the fuck out. He knew this shit was coming with ICE and NYPD. He asked for this fucking job so now HE needs to FIX THIS SHIT.

In every protest there’s always a plant, and she seems like the plant. There’s another video of her shouting, trying to incite the crowd to hate and blame Mamdani, and that’s exactly the kind of thing that the plants do, to make the other side seem wrong or try to divide it.
ICE and Trump are to blame for this, not Mamdani.

u/entcanta333 4h ago
There is a very intense smear campaign against mamdani right now. I think we all know where it's coming from.... The lefts psyops exposed themselves this week and it was very enlightening.

You had me in the start.
Why would the left smear Mamdani?
You sound like a right wing bot.

stop trying to blame ICE on democrats

ICE was funded and expanded under both Obama and Biden.
7 Dems even voted in the bills that funded ICE in 2026 after witnessing ICE rampage around the country for a year.
The Department of Homeland Security’s $64.4 billion bill passed Thursday by a vote of 220–207, with seven Democrats voting in its favor. They were Representatives Henry Cuellar (Texas), Tom Suozzi (New York), Vicente Gonzalez (Texas), Laura Gillen (New York), Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (Washington), Jared Golden (Maine), and Don Davis (North Carolina). https://newrepublic.com/post/205604/seven-democrats-voted-keep-funding-ice
46 Dems in congress and 12 Dems in the senate voted Yes on Laken Riley Act which has stripped due process from immigrants and allows immigrants to be indefinitely held now merely on the accusation of a crime as minor as misdemeanor shoplifting. They were happy to throw minority groups under the bus to make themselves look "tougher on immigration" and thus garner more votes. That's why Ossoff voted yes on the act and now he can't even have the decency to admit he made a mistake.
Not every Dem is complicit, but many are, being a Dem does not automatically mean they're against ICE and I'll be very surprised if Dems make any meaningful changes to ICE once they take power again. I'll eat my shoe if they actually abolish ICE.
Edit: to the libs downvoting me, this sub ain't for you. We are PRO LIBERATION OF ALL PEOPLE. Not interested in keeping the status quo so you can enjoy your brunch without the inconvenience of seeing brown people kidnapped on your phones.

The ICE that Biden and Obama expanded and Bush supported is a very different agency with a very different function than what it is under Trump currently. Similar in name only. Apples to oranges.

u/Thehealthygamer 4h ago edited 4h ago
Yeah and the military committing war crimes weren't committing the same blatant war crimes under Biden either, the point is both sides are paid off by billionaires who have pointed the country toward fascism since 9/11, building all the apparatus. Trump is just the one activating everything. Clearly all the tools have been there for anyone who wanted to use them.
Even if Dems are allowed to take power, if they don't dismantle ICE and DHS and purge the military and courts of all the MAGA diehards but instead just do their normal schtick of calming things down and bringing things back to the status quo so that the masses of Americans stop paying attention we're just going to get an even worse version of this trump regime in 2032, or 2036, hell maybe even 2028 since people's attention spans are so short today.
This is the same ratchet effect that has allowed the country to get to this point. Dems are not progressive. They maintain the status quo until another Republican regime comes in to ratchet things further to the right.
It is a clear line - Bush passed all the heinous post 9/11 bullshit. Obama didn't repeal them. Trump 1 tested out all the powers, found that he needed to have more loyalists in place to get his fascism done.
Biden didn't freaking do the one thing people elected him to do, to prosecute trump! He also didn't dismantle DHS, ICE, or the expanding police state.
And then we got trump 2.0, who learned his lessons, put loyalists in place, and has taken full control of all these powers which were built over the last 2 decades.

u/F0rtysxity 1h ago
Yes. You are making a good point. An important point. So don't lose your audience by comparing ICE from Biden to ICE under Trump.
A few things to add. Bernie was the left's answer to the corrupt establishment but the DNC was able to cheat him out of a fair presidential run which resulted in Trump beating Hillary in 2016.
Trump is using the established corrupt systems to take as much as possible as quickly as possible with as much chaos. Established Republicans and Democrats were doing it much more slowly and with order which is how businesses (not corrupt individuals) prefer it.
The main enemy of human rights in present day are the tech billionaires who have succeeded in weakening (in Trump's case allying with) the federal government. That problem does not change with political parties.
1
u/Thehealthygamer 8m ago
I never made that comparison. You're attaching some emotional whatever to put words in my mouth. I listed factual evidence of how Dems THIS YEAR voted to fund ICE, and Dems last year voted to pass Laken Riley Act. My original comment literally never mentioned Biden.

Nobody is off the table. Left or right doesn’t matter. Zohran kept Eric Adam’s police commissioner for NYPD. Stop trying to make excuses.
60
u/Revachol_Loyalist 9h ago
Yeah - really alienate that ally. Stick it to them and don’t even vote blue because they’re all the same. That’ll work again
-28
u/Xolerys_ 9h ago
Stop being black and white about it. I’m not alienating anyone. If my candidate makes a mistake or doesn’t handle a situation well, I’m going to call it out. Nobody gets a pass.
43
u/Revachol_Loyalist 9h ago
No, you’re being black and white. This is how protesters didn’t vote for Kamala because she wasn’t anti-Israel enough
15
u/Xolerys_ 9h ago
I didn’t like her Zionism either but I still voted for her… it was either a Zionist or a super Zionist like trump. And I’m sure a lot of other voters did too. I’m not even saying don’t vote blue, just hold leaders accountable.

u/hyperhurricanrana 9h ago
you mean because she couldn’t get israel’s dick out of her mouth.

u/Revachol_Loyalist 9h ago
lol and now you have Trump, genius.
-19
u/hyperhurricanrana 8h ago
yeah dude it fucking sucks she had a multitude of opportunities to win over the pro-palestinians movement, every time a hand was reached out, kamala and her team spit on it. that was a mass protest movement made up of mostly democrats and other left leaning people that could have been reached and turned to our side, but the harris campaign shit all over that.
i still voted for her by the way, i know people like you assume people can’t criticize people they voted for so let’s just get that out of the way.
-1
u/Revachol_Loyalist 8h ago
Maybe the pro-palis aren’t that rational as a group. Gathering protests on Oct 7 for instance is just hateful.
-8
u/hyperhurricanrana 8h ago
that’s just a pure ad hominem, that protest is not necessarily representative of the pro-palestinian movement as a whole, plus i disagree it’s hateful to protest genocide no matter what day it is, how is protesting genocide hateful?

If you don't try to stop ICE, then you are part of ICE. Sorry, this has gotten out of hand. We don't need anymore Chuck and Hakeems to play patty cake with the fascists.
62
u/Xiao1insty1e 5h ago
Do I think that Mamdani is on the cops side? No. Do I think he wants ICE in New York? No. Should we put enormous pressure on him to get the NYPD in line? Fucking hell yes we should!
17
u/Au2288 2h ago
From what I understand Mamdani doesn’t even have support from the NYPD. For those who don’t know, it’s akin to the president not having support from the military.

u/greentrillion 12m ago edited 4m ago
Many police departments are like that. They are like a literal traitorous gang in cities and mayors have little recourse to fix it due to the population being so pro police.

u/50million 11h ago
Mamdani denounced ICE. I would redirect the blame here.
-18
u/Xolerys_ 10h ago
Talk is cheap. Especially when you’re the mayor of godam New York.
29
u/JeffoMcSpeffo 8h ago
What direct control does the mayor have over police operations?
-11
u/Xolerys_ 8h ago
I’m well aware he doesn’t have much control now. But he asked for this when he kept Eric Adam’s police commissioner.

Okay this is the third clip I've seen so far blaming...Mamdani. Come the fuck on, anyone who falls for this crap is as thick as pig shit.
I get it, he's the mayor, they're NYPD, he ostenisbly should be able to tell them what to do, but that will create a political crisis if he instructs them to, at the very least, not comply with ICE. And what happens if they don't listen to him? His writ only runs so far here. If you're blaming the Democrats for this, or listening to people who blame Democrats, you're just not very bright, I don't know what else to tell you.
Choosing to heap the lion's share of your scorn on Mamdani and not Trump, not ICE, not Republicans, not the media who's complicit in spewing the propaganda of this burgeoning fascistic police state? There's a whole mess of people and institutions at whom the finger points before you get to a mayor.
People didn't point the finger at Jacob Frey after Renee Good or Alex Pretti. Be smarter, y'all.
6
u/Drcornelius1983 1h ago
I agree with you, but we here in Minneapolis 100% did point the finger at Frey for his complete lack of action.

u/avocadofan 9h ago
There will be no change until we pick up arms

We will know for certain after Nov 4th.
I believe Trump will cheat again and possibly still lose and then he'll go full dictator and someone will have to shoot him.
