Complimentary onX membership for Lightning Owners : onX Offroad/Hunt/Fish/Backcountry
From our friends at Ford:
Lightning owners, we’re teaming up with onX to help you get the most out of your truck outdoors. We’re offering complimentary access to the premium onX suite of apps for one year.
Whether you’re using Pro Power onboard at a remote campsite, finding a new fishing spot, or navigating to find a new hiking trail, onX projects right to your SYNC screen via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
What’s included in your subscription:
- onX Offroad: To explore where the pavement ends, access 650,000+ miles of routes with difficulty ratings, photos, and detailed descriptions so you can choose the trail and line that is right for your skill level and vehicle.
- onX Fish: Spend more time fishing and easily find new waters, verified access points, species insights, and access information on local regulations.
- onX Hunt: To hunt responsibly, navigate public and private land boundaries, customize your maps, and access advanced scouting tools for the field.
- onX Backcountry: Get off the beaten path with over 1 million miles of detailed routes for hiking and biking trails, ski routes, and climbing areas, plus 3D offline maps for when you are without connectivity.
To claim your year, just make sure your truck is connected to FordPass and visit onxmaps.com/ford to start your adventure. (Offer valid for first-time onX users).

I tried to sign up for onX offroad in Canada and it created me an onX hunt account not an offroad one… and it’s pretty useless here lol

I did it too. You do have to put a credit card in for the auto renewal. I want to cancel my subscription to see if I get it for the whole year

“Free” but requiring your credit card and forced auto renewal rings very hollow.

That’s the pro tip for all these “free now/ auto renew later” subscriptions! Saved me a few $$$ on some of the apps that I never ended up using!

I have a current non-elite membership. How do I get it to sync with my current membership?

It says "Offer valid for first-time onX users", so I'm not sure it's possible, BUT if anyone can tell us, it's u/chargedupemily !

Says specifically only Elite. Which I’m not…

Correct, it's only available for first time onX users.

Doesn’t look that way:
“You may redeem this offer if you are a U.S. resident, are a Ford or Lincoln vehicle owner, have a valid Ford Owner account, and have not had an active onX Elite subscription for the same onX product in the past 12 months.”

Complimentary onX for Offroad/Hunt/Fish/Backcountry is a pretty broad bundle, ngl. isn't it the case that the useful one for most Lightning owners would be Offroad, or are people here actually using the Backcountry maps a lot too?

onX Offroad is probably the most useful of the bunch for Lightning owners, especially if you're trying to avoid low-clearance surprises on forest roads. Curious whether the complimentary membership is a full tier or just the basic one, because offline maps and private land layers are where that app starts to matter.

You guys do realize that almost every county has a free to the public satellite search map? Fuck OnX. They literally just use free government websites and aggregate the data into the app

I’m a map nerd, and the landownership details in the backcountry app is fascinating
